Guardian of the Pacific: The Incredible Adventures of the Giant Turtle

The boy woke up as a giant turtle in the Pacific Rim. This is a story about a guy with a good moral compass. If you want to read how MC destroys cities and sinks ships, then this fanfic is not for you. There will be no magical transformation back into a human. This is my first fanfic. English is not my native language, so I used a translator. In the first chapters, I used GPT for some paragraphs of text, but the result is not satisfactory. Then everything is manual work. I do not own the rights to the universe and characters in this story.

Some Events

In the middle of the desert you could see a huge beast lying on the sand. Next to him was a small tent in which one person lived. In the evenings, he left the tent and continued to teach Torterra sign language. The day was too hot for him to do anything.

The man's name was Harry. So he introduced himself to the giant. He didn't want to talk about himself anymore, and Torterra didn't ask. In those few weeks, he was able to speak in simple sentences, combining the words he had already learned. But it was quite difficult to study. It was necessary to memorize the movements of the hands, and each word required its own movement.

Torterra didn't have a photographic memory and his memory was generally mediocre. He had to repeat each word many times to remember it, and then repeat each day what he had already learned. It kind of annoyed him, but he tried his best.

Harry was not angry at such a slow process and continued to help as best he could. The smile on his face never faded as he taught. They didn't talk much, only words they had already learned. This was because Harry did not know that Torterra understood human language, and he in turn did not reveal this detail.

Because of the recent events that happened to him, he often has paranoid thoughts. What if this Harry is actually an agent of one of the countries and he is trying to gain confidence? Seriously! Nothing is known about him? Who is he? Why does he do this? And it doesn't matter what country he was from. Torterra knew that the governments of all countries were conspiring against the Jaeger program and would start building, instead of weapons, a wall around the Pacific Ocean! Such people cannot be trusted. It felt like they just wanted to give up and stop fighting.

After a few days, various plants began to grow around Torterra. It was a success of his experiment! Gray plants began to grow right out of the sand. The color was strange, but it was a desert, so it was to be expected that he wouldn't see green leaves right away.

"Not bad, friend! You brought life to the desert. I'm proud of you!" Harry spoke to him. He knew the effect of Torterra's presence. Seeing something start to grow in the desert, he was delighted. Of course, deserts have a lot of different vegetation and oases, but when you see the sand dunes covered with vegetation, it was special and unique.

After a couple of days, the plants were big enough to start growing leaves, some flowers, or a new type of fruit. But instead, the gray plants continued to grow and expand, sending out very long and sharp thorns in all directions. There were all kinds of plants: grass, bushes, and trees, but they were all gray and sharp.

When the plants grew up to 3 meters, the entire area around them turned into a kind of torture zone for anyone who gets there. There was no way out of this zone, and Torterra and Harry were trapped in the middle of a nightmare forest.

"HA-HA-HA! Great job my friend! This is now an impenetrable forest of death!" Harry laughed at him.

Torterra covered his face with his hand in shame. It was a fiasco. "This is not me! I didn't do anything!" Torterra answered him. It's true, he didn't do anything but just sleep here. He didn't lose a single drop of sweat to grow this monstrous forest. The whole process happened independently and did not depend on him or even on his wishes.

"Let's get out of here," said Torterra using sign language. His movements were clumsy, but Harry understood him, so he began to gather his things.

Harry climbed onto Torterra's arm along with his belongings and he stood up and walked towards the Mediterranean Sea. Every step he took through the forest made a crunch, telling of his failure.

"Don't worry, even such a forest will be useful in the desert," Harry encouraged him. He sat on Torterra's giant hand and enjoyed the view of the desert and the breeze.

It was difficult for Torterry to carry Harry because the human body is too fragile for him. Even a small sudden movement can cause injury. Imagine that you were hit by a car at a speed of 10 km per hour. It may be low speed, but you will definitely have a bruised leg. Now imagine how you are standing in the middle of a skyscraper elevator and it suddenly descends. At this time, you lose contact with the floor, and then at a speed of 100 km per hour, the elevator begins to rise upwards. Moreover, the elevator did not accelerate, but immediately hit you at such a speed, as if it had been launched with the help of a railgun.

Harry was in such a situation now. Every careless movement will break his legs or his back. Even a careless free fall from a height of 2 meters can break his bone. Therefore, when they reached the sea and decided to stop there, Torterra breathed a sigh of relief.

Torterra and Harry didn't know it, but as soon as they left the desert, tens and hundreds of botanists from different countries immediately flew there. They had noticed a long time ago that new plants were growing in this area due to Torterra's influence, but the military had not given them permission to enter there. The military always patrolled such resting places of the giant. Even if it cost a lot of money and resources, they had to do it for many reasons.

POV: Marshal

My fears about other portals were not justified. Torterra was simply looking for illegal radioactive waste disposal sites. To find out, we spent a lot of resources checking every corner of the rest of the world's oceans. But I think this work had to be done to make sure that there is really only one portal on our planet.

There was a message about the appearance of a new Kaiju. He was on his way to Australia. The Australian branch already had one Jaeger with two pilots and a couple of old Horizon Braves. The Kaiju was given the name Scissure. This Kaiju could not be allowed into the city of Sydney, so they decided to meet him on one of the islands on the way to the city.

Three Jaegers were put out at the same time to fight. But only Romeo Blue struggled. It was another victory of Jaeger technology over the enemy. The island was destroyed, but there was no big city and no people, reports evacuated people in advance. Everyone celebrated this victory, but I was not in the mood for these entertainments. I knew that the attacks would happen more and more often.

Torterra was found in the Mediterranean, so I sent our guest Gary to it. All this time he occupied one of the pilots' rooms at the base. He was quite impatient, and every day he reminded me of our agreement, and finally I get rid of him.

New pilots were sent to us, among whom were two promising brother pilots - Yancy and Raleigh Becket. Their performance in simulations was the best and their drift was very good. They will certainly become pilots for the new Jaegers currently under construction. But they are very undisciplined. After the first day of working with them, I sent them to clean the island of Torterra.

POV: Raleigh

My brother and I were sent to Alaska. We had the best connection rates with Jaeger while drifting, so we had a good chance of controlling our robot. Many of those we knew from the academy did not make it into the Jaeger program and were forced to return to normal life. We were lucky, my brother and I had a good drift.

At the very first training session, we quarreled with our new commander. We had a fight with Kaiju category 2 on the simulator. We were in our suits and controlling the virtual Jaeger. The simulation room fully recreated the Jaeger Romeo Blue interior. We even felt pain when our Jaeger took damage. We wanted to rescue people from under the rubble of the building, but the commander said to said not to be distracted from the Kaiju. As a result, we were sent to the "island of slavery".

"Island of Slavery" - this is the name given to this island by those who got there. Even in the academy we were scared that those who were the worst would be sent to work there on a permanent basis.

"You missed a bush there!" My brother Yancy told me when we were cleaning this damn island together.

"Are you kidding me? WE missed that bush!" When the pilots control the Jaeger, their minds are connected as one and they know what each of them is thinking, they even move in sync.

"Yancy! Raleigh! Get ready, the Kaiju is coming!" the message blared into the brothers' headphones, and they immediately became serious. How did the Kaiju get here? To make matters worse, their Jaeger was not designed for combat.

"Where is he? What category?" Asked Yancy base.

"Don't worry, you can handle him!" Marshall answered. "Your task is to capture him alive."

"What? Alive? Are you out of your mind? This is a Kaiju, and we have a Jaeger-Gardener without a weapon!"

"Follow the order or stay on that island for a whole year!"

The brothers looked at each other, they knew what each of them was thinking. It was their first real fight and they were scared. "Just like in the simulations, bro!" Yancy tried to calm himself and his brother down.

They turned in the direction the Kaiju was supposed to come from and took up a fighting stance. After some time, the ocean lost its usual calm appearance, and the water began to spread violently in all directions. Splashes of water flew as if something was struggling under the water.

The first thing the brothers saw were giant horns, one of which was broken. The creature slumped heavily onto the stone floor of the island and looked at the Jaeger in front of him.

SCREEEEEE

The Kaiju snarled and began to close the distance, crawling across the floor like a worm.

"What is this thing?" The brothers asked in unison.

"Focus! I want you not to kill him, keep him alive and subdue him. Be careful, although he has no legs or arms, he can spit webs. You fought him in the simulations," Marshall replied.

"Exactly! This is the one that bypassed our detection systems, why is he still alive? What's going on here?" Yancy remembered.

The Kaiju, coming closer to the Jaeger, spat a web, but the brothers, as in training, were able to dodge. Although this Jaeger was slower than the combat versions, they managed to dodge. They took a few steps forward and were about to strike with their fists, but the next shot of webbing pinned their feet to the ground and their Jaeger began to fall forward by inertia.

They were falling right at the Kaiju. The brothers put their arms forward and caught the Kaiju's horns as they fell. The Jaeger pressed the Kaiju's head to the ground with his weight.

SCREEEEERRR

Kaiju yelled and spat out the web once more as he raised his head. With this shot, he sealed Jaeger's chest and head. The brothers did not give up and continued to press Kaiju against land, despite the web. They couldn't see anything on the monitors, but they could feel that the Kaiju couldn't get their horns out of the Jaeger's grasp. They fought and stuck to each other with a web.

From the outside, it looked like two worms were fighting on the asphalt. The web became more and more and after a while Jaeger and Kaiju were completely glued to each other.

"It's so humiliating!" Raleigh complained.

"Good job! I'll send a Jaeger over to you to help re-imprison this Kaiju. Keep holding him." Marshall said.

"It seems to me that he is holding us, and not us him." Raleigh said. "Sir! What's going on here? Why is this Kaiju still alive?"

"It's none of your business, keep holding it."
