Chapter 2

When you came down from the slight high that absorbing the Beowolf put you on, you noticed it was eerily quiet around you. Well, you could still hear many Grimm roaring in the distance, not to mention tons of gunfire and screams.

But in your immediate vicinity, it was much quieter.

You hesitantly turned away from where the corpse of your killed foe was and looked around you. Grimm stared back at you. Mostly a bunch of Beowolves. Dozens of them, and there was one big ass Alpha at the front of them all. It positively towered over you, was easily over ten feet in height.

But just the same, there were a few Goliath's looking you over and even a few small Nevermore had stopped to roost and look you over.

'Oh shit!' you panicked internally. Grimm weren't the smartest thing out there. And sometimes they did fight amongst each other. The reason why wasn't really known, but they were known to.

So, what were these things going to do after seeing you jump and kill one of your apparent brethren just because it bumped into you?

Yeah fuck this! No way you're sticking around as you are against a bunch of Goliath's and a fucking Alpha Beowolf! You turned on your four legs and flapped your wings hard. This was your first time doing this, but for the life of you, you weren't nervous at all.

You launched yourself up into the hair with a quick and powerful jump and flew up above the building had taken the chance to look into the window of.

Most of the Grimm seemed to stunned to react to your sudden murder of another and attempt to flee. So you shot up into the sky before any of them could attempt to attack you.

Except one.

A squawk erupted from your left and your instincts flared hard. You dipped your head, just in time for an arm sized quill to shoot past your head. A snarl left your throat and you turned to see one of the small nevermore zooming through the air towards you.

What a brave little thing.

"Squa-" it flapped its wings rapidly and descended towards your face with its talons primed to gouge your eyes. The raging squawk it made was cut off as your claw lashed out and grasped the small bird tightly as you flew. It struggled in your grip, but for naught as your claws gouged into it hard. You felt its blood seep into your furred paw, before it went limp and began to turn into smoke and just like the Beowolf before, it quickly began to dissolve into black smoke and get absorbed into your body due to what you assume has to be your semblance.

Just like before, that light bit of euphoria filled you, but this time it was much easier to shake it off since you had experienced it before and were expecting it.

Moments later, you found yourself flapping your wings to keep afloat while high in the sky. No grimm or anything were around you, but this high up, you could see the many, many more that were assaulting Beacon at the core.

'What the hell am I even meant to do here?' you wondered. That was your school, the place you lived and trained. And while you weren't close to your team at all, they were still people you knew.

And you had at least one friend in amongst all that chaos...if she was even still alive that is.

But really, what could you do? You're pitifully weak in this body in comparison to your old one, and even in your old body you wouldn't be that big a help at all with what is going on here. And even if you tried to help, people would just see a Grimm and try to kill you.

Anger filled you once again at the shitty situation you found yourself in. You roared, releasing all your frustration and flappeed your wings hard. and something just clicked.

Multiple quill shot from your wings, piercing through the air like arrows and launched off into the horizon.

It was enough to make you blink and drain you off your anger for the moment, clearing your mind.

You sighed internally. That was new, did you get that ability from that Nevermore? You know Griffon's can't fire quill's like them, you'd fought plenty in the past to know that much.

You shook your head. You could think on it later. For now, you had to decide what to do. You really only had two options. Try to help, or flee.

'Fuck it!' you decided. You may be a Grimm now, and you me be way weaker than you were before and lack your weapons, but you were a fucking hunter! A hero that trained for years to protect humanity from the threat of the Grimm!

Just because you died and became one, didn't change who you are!

The biggest roar you had yet to produce resounded from your throat. In comparison to the massive beasts tearing the city of Vale and Beacon apart, it was pitiful thing, but it was your battle cry, your pride as a Cobalt Stone.

You beat your wings hard and took off, zipping through the air towards the city of Vale. Beacon had all the students and everyone else gathered there, but what about the city? They were defenceless.

You'd show your pride as a hunter and save as many as you could!

___________

It took you a few minutes to fly the distance between the bridge of Beacon and the city of Vale. And for all the problems that plagued you right now, you had to be thankful at least for the speed that flight gave you for crossing distances.

You soared into the city easily, there were very few flying Grimm at all around, most of them having concentrated around Beacon Academy.

You grimaced as you took in the state of the streets from an aerial view. The streets were absolutely teeming with inky black Grimm roaming all around, destroying everything in sight. Beowolves tore homes apart and Goliath's crushed the streets underfoot.

Just as you were deciding what to do, a scream split the air. The scream of a child. You flapped your wings hard and about turned, looking in the direction of you heard the scream coming from.

Your eyesight, now much improved from when you were a human allowed you to pick up on things from much greater distances. You saw the form of a little girl running down a relatively empty, but utterly decimated street filled with craters and gore all over.

And behind that little girl, you caught sight of no less than seven large adult lupine grimm chasing her down and rapidly gaining on her. A pack of average beowolves.

Shit!
