From A Loser To What?

''Arthur, my son... Are you a slave to others or are you a slave to your life?'' ''I... I am not a slave, mother.'' ''Good answer.'' Arthur is a boy that has a nickname, loser. He got bullied by his ''friends'' for more than 10 years. But one day... Everything changed for him. A change that made his life unimaginable. ----------------- This is my first book and I hope you love it and criticize it freely. There will be harem at the end of the story but because it will take a little place in story, I didn't add the 'Harem' tag. It will look like a cherry on top of a cake. Thank you for reading my book.

A Newbie Hunter (Chapter-03)

Birds were making noises, trees were embracing the sun as they always did.

Babies were crying, animals were hunting as they always did.

People were working and people were talking as they always did.

The world was continuing to whirl around as it always did.

''Please Arthur. Please take everything you need. I don't want the things I protected to turn out meaningless.''

Arthur opened his eyes. He was breathing fast. It was a dream but it felt so real. Maybe it was a message from Hennen since he wasn't sure about taking her father's sword and her money. But he didn't want to be disrespectful to Hennen.

He got up from the bed and came next to the table. Looked at the table for a few seconds. The book was still there.

''Storage.'' he said. A blue window appeared in front of him. At the window, there were endless slots for items and a weight calculator at the window's bottom-right corner. He grabbed the book and put it in his storage. The weight calculator changed from 0 to 1.4 kilos. ''Storage.'' he said once again and the window closed.

He pushed the table aside and saw the secret stairs. He went down those stairs slowly and he saw a wooden door.

He opened it slowly. When he opened the door he saw a small simple room made of some rocks and wood colons. There was a table at the center of the room and there was a bag and a sword on the table.

He took the bag first. It was full of copper, silver, and a few golden coins.

He put them in his storage and took a look at the sword.

The sword was a simple old knight sword. The sword wasn't rusty at all. Its length was around 50 cm and it was light but it looked solid. Easy to swing and carry.

''It seems you cared much about this sword, Hennen.'' he said with a sad tone.

There was a brown belt under the sword. The belt was for carrying the sword easily.

He put on the belt and put the sword at the section of the belt that's made for a sword.

He left the room and climbed up the stairs. He wanted to look around the house a little more.

So he walked to the kitchen.

The kitchen was small and mostly empty. Some washed plates, spoons, and forks. A kitchen knife and a bucket of water.

He saw a box of matches at the corner of the counter and he took it.

He left the kitchen, took the sheet that was on the bed, and left the house.

He looked at the house one last time. Even if it wasn't a happy meeting, it was beautiful for Arthur. Hennen was the first person that trusted Arthur and she was the first person who didn't make fun of him.

''Goodbye, Hennen. Even if the time that we spent together was short I enjoyed it to the fullest. You gave me a reason to keep going. You put your trust in me and I promise I will make you proud. Farewell.'' he said.

He ignited the sheets and threw them into the house. Soon after the house was burning fast. Arthur felt a pain in his heart. Like the memories were burning with the house. But it wasn't. Arthur felt the warmness of life with a warm wind that came from his behind.

He turned around and started walking with the hope of finding the little town that Hennen mentioned.

After walking for an hour he saw the little town from a cliff. The town was bigger than a regular village and it was looking more modern.

Roofs are made of tiles, a security wall is made of stone, and colorful houses are made of different kinds of stones.

He looked around to see if there was a path that goes to the town. And he found one.

After some walking, he got pretty close to the town. A guardian stopped him right before he went in.

''Hey! Stop! Show us your ID!'' the guardian said.

The guardian had brown eyes and brown short hair. The guardian's height was around Arthur's but the guardian was a little more muscular.

''ID?'' Arthur said with a confused look.

''Don't you have an ID?'' the guardian said.

''N-no I don't. What should I do?'' Arthur said.

''Wait here for a second.'' the guardian said.

The guardian turned around and yelled.

''Cily! Bring the glass sphere and a registration paper!''

After the guardian yelled, a girl came behind from the security wall. It was a female knight that had blue eyes, pink long hair, and her height was around 160 cm. She looked a little clumsy.

''S-sorry Jake! Here!'' she said. She extended the registration paper and glass sphere. She was out of breath and a little scared of the male guardian.

''Name?'' the male guardian asked to the Arthur.

''A-Arthur Blade.'' he said.

''Age?'' the male guardian asked once again.

''18.'' Arthur said.

''Okay... Your class is a swordsman I guess.'' the male guardian asked while looking at Arthur's sword.

''Class?'' Arthur said with a confused voice.

''You are carrying a sword so you must be a swordsman.'' the guardian said.

''I... I don't think I have a class yet.'' Arthur said.

''Oh!.. I get it so you are just a beginner! What's your level?'' the guardian said and smiled.

''T-two...'' Arthur said.

''Good... (He wrote all the information he got) Now please touch the sphere and we'll see if you are telling the truth or not. And don't worry it won't tell us about your skills. We'll just see the things I asked.'' the guardian said and extended the glass sphere.

Arthur was hesitating a little but grabbed the sphere in the end.

A window appeared in front of the guardian.

''Okay, the window is here... Age... Correct. Name... Correct. Level... Correct. And class... Correct! It's all as you said, Mr. Arthur. (The guardian signed the paper that he noted Arthur's information and gave it to Arthur) This is an approval from the guardians of Cacot, The City of Hunters. This approval's validity lasts just for today so I'll give you my friend, Cily (The guardian put his hand on Cily's shoulder) to guide you to the center of Cacot. There is a guild center that will give you an ID that you can use permanently in every city of this kingdom.'' the male guardian said.

Arthur took the approval.

''Thanks... And Cily, I'm pleased to meet you.'' Arthur said and extended his hand to make a handshake with Cily.

Cily didn't shake hands with Arthur and ignored him.

''Sorry for her bad personality. She does this most of the time when she meets with someone new.'' the male guardian said.

''Come on! I don't have much time for this!'' Cily said with a furious tone and started walking through the entrance of the Gate of Cacot.

Arthur followed her without saying a word.

They passed through crowded places but Cily didn't even bother herself about looking to Arthur if he could follow her.

After 50 minutes of walking, they finally arrived.

''Okay. I'm saying this just one time. You'll go in, and tell the secretary that you want to sign up for an ID. If you want you can have a regular ID or (she snapped her fingers and a window appeared in front of Arthur. It was showing some information about Cily. Information like age, name, gender, and level.) a hunter ID like I have. The difference is simple, with a regular ID you can live as a normal citizen but with a hunter ID, you can go on monster hunting missions or gathering item missions. Most of the citizens that live or come here are hunters.'' she said. She wasn't happy to be with Arthur.

''O-okay. Thanks.'' Arthur said.

''And they will give you a guidebook about hunting and being a hunter.'' she said with the same tone.

''Okay, that's all. I'm going now, and I hope we won't come across again.'' she said and walked away.

Arthur was in front of a big building that had a monster head emblem on it. The building was white and had some blue lines on it.

''Okay... I guess I'm going to be a hunter. I need to level up more to make sure I won't be weak when the time comes.'' he said to himself and entered to the building.

The hall of the building where most of the hunters sit, talk, take missions, and take their payments was huge. There were all kinds of people.

Arthur was amazed by the architecture.

''Can I help you, sir?'' a thin bald man that's wearing a black suit came near to him.

''Uh... Hello. I got approval from the guardians of Cacot and I want to sign up for a hunter ID.'' Arthur said.

The bald man smiled kindly to him.

''Sure. Let me lead you to the secretary.'' the man said and he led the way for Arthur.

Arthur followed him while looking around the hall. There were plenty of flags with different colors and emblems on them but one of them was different. Its vibe was different from the other. That different flag had a golden rearing horse. And except the horse the flag was full of white.

''That flag... (Arthur points to that flag) It gives a different vibe from others.'' Arthur said.

''Ah! That's normal because that flag represents the royal family's guild, the Warriors of Aliela. It's like the core army of this kingdom.'' the bald man said.

''It's gorgeous... My name is Arthur by the way.'' Arthur said.

The bald man laughed. ''My name is Gery, young man. It seems like you came from far lands.'' Gery said.

''Y-yeah... I lost my precious things on my way here but yeah... I came from far lands.'' Arthur said.

''In this world danger is a big part of life. Especially when it comes to monsters. You can get strong and feel like everything is in your hands but when you take a second look if you keep that attitude, you'll see that maybe you even lost your life. Life is a race that everyone can experience for once. Some people's roads are shorter than others but in the end, everyone passes through the finish line. I'm sure the people you lost are supporting you from the place they are waiting for you.'' Gery said.

Arthur smiled... The idea of getting support from his mother, his father, and Hennen made him happy.

''Thanks, Gery... Right now, my path seems more clear than before.'' Arthur said.

''I'm happy that I can help.'' Gery said.

Then they arrived at the secretary.

''See you later Arthur. I wish you the best.'' Gery said and walked away to help other people.

''How can I help you?'' the secretary man said.

''Uh, hello. I'm here to sign up for a hunter ID.'' Arthur said.

''Okay. Do you have a regular ID?'' the secretary man said.

''No, but the guardian gave me a registration paper.'' Arthur said and gave the paper to the secretary man.

''Okay, that's valid too... (He started to check the paper) Okay, sir, everything seems good. Do you want to use a nickname or will you use your real name?'' the secretary man said.

''What do you mean?'' Arthur said.

''Some hunters want to use nicknames and some want to use their real names. So what do you want to use, sir?'' the secretary man said.

''Then... I'd like to use just my name, Arthur.'' he said.

''Okay then... Please extend your right hand.'' the secretary said.

Arthur extended his right hand and the secretary man picked up a brush that seemed similar to a paint brush and the secretary man drew a circle to the back of Arthur's hand. The circle shined blue for a second and disappeared.

''Okay... With this, it ends now. You'll be able to show your information to the other people now.'' the secretary man said with a smile on his face.

''How do I show it?'' Arthur asked.

''Just think about the thing you want to see or show with the intention of opening the Aliel system. That's all.'' the secretary man said.

''But the girl that led the way for me to here snapped her fingers to show her information.'' Arthur said.

''That means she is just stupid. (The secretary man laughed.) Don't think about it that much. Probably, she was just putting on airs. Thinking about showing your information is enough.'' the secretary man said.

Arthur giggled a little.

''Thanks. Can I take a mission right now?'' Arthur asked.

''Yeah, sure! Since you are a newbie your first mission will be finding about something or gathering up some herbs.'' the secretary said.

''When I can be able to take monster hunting missions?'' Arthur asked.

''You are F rank now... And your ranking will go up over time. But even if you are an F rank you'll be able to get some easy monster hunting or monster peeking missions after your first 5 missions I guess.'' the secretary said.

''By the way, we call it Aliel System.'' the secretary said.

''The information window?'' Arthur asked.

''Yeah. And... (Arthur heard a notification sound) Your first mission was sent. The Aliel System is not just for showing information. We can give you a mission with it or you can pick a mission from the Aliela's Guild Center section and you can send messages to people that accepted being friends with you.'' the secretary said.

''It's like a telephone...'' Arthur said while looking at his right hand.

''What?..'' the secretary said with a confused face.

''Oh... Nothing! How can I add someone as a friend to Aliel System?''

Arthur asked.

''Just say that you want to be friends. It goes the same with making a party too. In short, if you wanna be friends just say it, if you wanna make a party with someone or join people's party just say it.'' the secretary said.

''It's simple. Thanks for the help.'' Arthur said.

''We wish you luck.'' the secretary said.

Arthur thought about his mission and the window opened.

[Mission]

[Gather 4 stingers, and 3 blue roses. After gathering all of them, bring them back to the guild center. You can find them in the Babylon Forest.]

''Okay... Let's finish it quickly.'' Arthur said.

Arthur left the Cacot and started walking to the Babylon Forest.
