City of Torris
(Night)
The sun shone high in the sky and the slightly cold wind blew making even the bright day soothing.
Summer was yet to come in Torris.
A car drove across the vacant roads of the city. The main part of the city was yet to start.
Sitting inside the car a handsome man was driving. His hair blew slightly because of the wind coming from the window. His grey eyes focused on the road. That sharp chin, perfect jawline and the perfectly carved out collarbones peeking from his white shirt only made him look more handsome.
They say true in the end that men busy in something looked only more beautiful.
His phone rang and he couldn't help but smile when he glanced at the name.
He touched his bluetooth earphone slightly and the call was connected in an instant.
"Leon! Where are you? I have been waiting for so long. I have prepared such a great surprise for you."
Leon chuckled deeply when he heard the excited voice of his paternal aunt. He lost his mother in childhood. It was his aunt only who had raised him.
"Just on my way. It should take around half an hour to reach Miller Mansion."
"Half an hour! Do you wish to kill your aunt with so much waiting?"
"Aunt!"
Leon scolded sharply.
"Don't say such things."
After that, he was silent for a long time. The past few months had not been easy for him. He didn't wish to lose any of his loved ones anymore.
The woman on the other side also sensed that Leon was upset and she said in an apologising tone.
"Alright, I am sorry. My Leon will forgive me, right? Otherwise aunt would stay restless. Doesn't Leon love aunt the most? Leon should forgive aunt for everything she does."
Leon still had a frown on his forehead. But on hearing his aunt's words, he sighed and opened his mouth to comfort her.
"How can I even stay angry at you! You and Adrian are my everything after grandfather. I would do anything for you two."
Leon had just finished these words when a truck suddenly collided with his car from behind at a great speed.
His car was dragged to a long distance until it flipped upside down.
The glass of the windows broke down.
A few moments later, Leon looked at his surroundings with blurry eyes. His head had collided with something and blood was flowing out continuously. His face had scratches.
A part of glass was stuck inside his stomach.
His phone lied slightly far away from him and its screen was completely broken.
Still, he somehow forwarded his hand and touched it with trembling hands. He didn't even know where he was clicking and what he was doing but with his slight memory, he tried to call someone.
However, his body didn't coordinate with him for long.
Soon everything faded away and he closed his eyes.
--------
Three Months Later
"Hey, Stop!"
The chubby policeman, named Joeff shouted as he tried his best to run behind the figure that was running ahead of him.
The figure, of course, didn't listen to the policeman and continued to run away.
Joeff took a deep breath before he started running again.
That one was the most wanted thief of Torris since a year now. God knew that he has been trying his best to catch this one since the first incident but every single time he was unsuccessful.
This was actually the first time he could at least see the figure of the thief in the sight and he didn't wish to miss this chance.
However, his quite good health didn't seem to help him.
For the first time in his life, Joeff regretted not listening to his wife whenever she asked him to exercise more or reduce his junk food eating.
"Ha!"
Joeff had to stop finally. Putting his hands on his knees, he took deep breaths. Sweat dripped down his forehead drop by drop.
"Sir!"
Joeff was immediately alerted by the shout and raised his head to see his subordinates running towards him from the other end of the street.
"Sir, where is he?"
Joeff immediately turned around to look in the direction where the thief had run into but utter disappointment marred his eyes when he saw no sign of the figure.
A moment later, he had a very serious expression on his face and ordered
"Surround the entire area. Stop every vehicle and even a walking person. Check each and every bag. I want to catch him today at any cost."
The two subordinates nodded their heads furiously.
"Yes, Sir"
As Joeff looked at the other end of the street, he had a very grim face.
This man...he must catch if he wanted to save his job.

.
On the other hand, a figure walked down the streets of Torris. The area basically housed the most crowded slums of Torris.
"Ariel!"
A shout sounded in the almost silent street. An almost six year old boy ran down the street.
The figure stopped walking and turned around slowly. It had its face covered with a mask. Only a pair of brown eyes could be seen. Seeing the young boy, it removed the mask.
"Ariel, where did you go? My grandmother says that ghosts roams in the street at this time."
The boy said in almost a hushed whisper trying to imitate his grandmother.
Ariel chuckled on hearing the boy's words and ruffled his hair with a smile on her lips. The boy also laughed out loud.
"She thinks I will believe in all this."
Ariel shook her head and adjusted her bag a little before holding the boy by her shoulders and then both of them started walking.
"She wants you to stay at home and not roam around at night. You should listen to her."
She told the boy. The boy clicked his tongue and made a face that showed that he was unwilling.
Ariel stopped speaking.
They stopped in front of a hut and Ariel then knelt down in front of the boy. She looked in his eyes as she spoke
"Ivan, there might not be ghosts out there but there are people scarier than ghosts. They will abduct you and sell you somewhere you can't come back from. They will cut your legs so that you won't be able to run away. They will make you work day and night. Do you want that to happen to yourself?"
Ivan was looking at Ariel with wide eyes. He gulped hard as he processed whatever Ariel said.
"Is that true....or you are just trying to scare me like my Grandmother and Mother?"
Ariel smiled and asked in return
"Have I ever lied to you before?"
"No! Never."
Ivan shook his head firmly. Ariel never lied to him. Ariel was his bestest friend. He bragged about her to his friends. After all, she was so awesome.
"I won't go out like this again."
Ariel was satisfied with this response. She knew very well what kind of child Ivan was. You couldn't fool him by ghost stories. So it was better to beware him by the truth.
"Good"
"Go and sleep now."
Ariel said to the boy.
"Alright."
Ivan said behaving like a good boy. He then turned to walk towards the hut but turned around a moment later.
"Ariel..."
Ariel who had just walked towards her own small hut turned to look at Ivan again.
"You too....don't roam around at night. What if they kidnapped you?"
Ivan asked in hushed whisper. His eyes were already filled with fear as if Ariel was being kidnapped right now.
Ariel raised her eyebrows but then silently nodded her head.
"Alright. I will listen to Ivan."
"Good girl."
Ivan said like an elder making Ariel's lips twitch.
Finally he walked back to his hut.
