Ariel was feeling irritated with how the make up artists were applying so many things on her face. But she couldn't complain. Ines had paid her to bear all this.
So she could only comply silently.
Almost half an hour later, when her makeup was done, she was given the wedding dress and was asked to go and wear it.
When she stepped out wearing the dress, she was looking down at herself. Her eyes were filled with frustration as she looked at the extra cloth of the dress that was being dragged on the ground.
"Is it supposed to be like this only?"
She asked to no one in particular but on not getting any response, she raised her head only to find the girls looking at herself with huge smiles on their lips and brightness in their eyes.
"Miss Ariel, you are looking so beautiful."
When Ariel had stepped inside the room, she had been wearing baggy T-shirt and loose pants. She had long bangs on her forehead and her hair were messy.
Even though her features were beautiful, no one could properly see her beautiful eyes and slender figure properly.
Ariel herself had never heard such compliments in her life. So she didn't really know how to respond to.
Fortunately, someone entered the room and it save her from saying anything. However, the person who entered....Ariel didn't recognise her.
It was a girl of her own age. She had a glass in her hands and was sucking the cold coffee through the straw. She herself was wearing a long light blue gown. Her eyes didn't really have anything as she stared at completely ready Ariel.
"So you are my step sister."
She said more like a statement than a question.
Ariel finally recognized the girl.
It was Adele, Ines' daughter.
Adele looked at Ariel with narrowed eyes when she noticed her indifferent attitude. A moment later, without looking at the makeup artists, she ordered
"You all...leave."
The makeup artists could sense the tension but they knew that they were supposed to follow orders only so they left.
After they left, the room was completely silent.
Adele silently sucked on the straw as she stared at Ariel while Ariel walked to the chair and sat there. The dress was quite annoying to her. She looked as if she didn't even care about Adele's presence. However, this fact seemed to annoy Adele more.
A few moments later, Adele finally spoke up.
"I can help you in running away from here."
Ariel finally paid some attention to her. Looking at Adele's serious face, she raised her eyebrows and asked
"And why would you do that?"
Adele frowned at the question. She suddenly dragged the nearest chair and sat next to Ariel as she asked
"Don't you want to run away? I know my mother made you agree with this marriage because she wanted to save me. But you don't need to do this. I can look out for myself."
Ariel was silent for some time absorbing whatever Adele said. A few moments later, she finally spoke up
"I can also look out for myself."
Adele rolled her eyes when she heard this and said indifferently
"As if I was worried about you."
Ariel didn't say anything to these words and hence there was again silence for a long time.
But Adele seemed to be the kind of person who can't stay silent so she spoke up again
"Why are you doing this?"
"You mother gave me a lot of money for doing it."
"Of course, she did. That stupid woman..."
Ariel raised her eyebrows and looked at Adele with curiosity for the first time. The latter however seemed to be lost in her own world.
By the time, Adele focused on Ariel again, the latter had already looked away.
"The Millers don't seem to be ordinary people."
Millers....Ariel found it familiar. She frowned as she tried to remember but Adele continued speaking and she focused on what Adele was saying.
"Leon Miller...your groom, he has spent most of his life abroad. First because of studies and after his grandfather's death, he managed most of his business from Europe only. They say he returned like three months ago and then this sudden marriage....No one has seen him before. Doesn't all this sound fishy to you?"
Ariel nodded her head.
It did.
But...
"It's just a six months marriage."
Adele looked at Ariel who was so nonchalant and said seriously
"You think nothing can happen in six months?"
Ariel looked at Adele without any chance in her expression and asked in return
"What can happen?"
Adele opened and closed her mouth wondering how she should reply to such a question. In the end, she blurted out whatever came inside her heart
"What if he tried to seduce you?"
Ariel blinked as she asked with a face that carried a little surprise
"Seduce me?"
Adele nodded her head again and again as she said
"I tried to ask some of my friends abroad before who have met him. They told me he is quite a beauty."
"Beauty?"
Ariel had never talked about such things to anyone. It was a first time for her but Adele was unaware to all this so she continued
"Yes, you must not fall into his or his family trap. It has been specified clearly that they can't force you to produce an heir. They can't..."
Adele wanted to say more but a knock sounded on the door she stopped abruptly.
When she saw the person standing on the door, her eyes narrowed again and she leaned down towards Ariel as she whispered
"She is his paternal Aunt, Vista Miller."
Ariel looked at the woman standing at the door carefully. She had a very beautiful smile on her lips. If she was Leon's paternal aunt she must be a middle aged woman but her looks couldn't predict her age.
She looked quite young.
"Beautiful ladies, can I accompany you in your gossips?"
Vista Miller asked gently as she stepped inside the room. It seemed that she didn't hear anything Adele was saying.
But she didn't even need to because Adele herself told her answering her question.
"Sure. You would do much better actually because we were gossiping about your family only."
