BARBECUE DAY

Chris reached his home after twenty minutes. As he entered the house, he saw his mom standing there with a slight smile on her face. He looked at her for a few moments and sighed as he went to sit on the sofa and told her about the day. "After I picked her up, we went to the pier and got on ELISA. Then we toured around, after which we went to the lagoon for scuba diving. We spent an hour diving and then we went to the pioneer."

"You took her to the Pioneer." Mom asked with a raised brow

"Hmm…" Chris hummed

"And then?" Mom asked

"Then we ate and spend some time there and came back after I send her home." Chris replied

"Nothing else happened." Mom asked playfully

"Ohm… I invited her for tomorrow 's barbecue. Did Isaac bring the fish I caught?" Chris replied as if he didn't notice what she was insinuating

"Yes." Mom replied ruefully

"Ok mom, I am tired and want to sleep. So, Goodnight." Chris said

"Goodnight" Mom replied

Chris got up from the sofa and walked to his room. After freshening up, he went to check on his siblings. He reached Mathew's room and knocked on the door. After a few seconds, he opened the door and asked

"What is it, brother?"

"Just checking on you" Chris replied

"Hmm… how was the date?" Mathew asked

"It was good. She liked it." Chris replied proudly and happily

He gave me a thumbs up and a goofy smile. Seeing this, I kneaded his head and put my arms around his neck said

"We are doing Barbecue day tomorrow, don't forget to inform your friends"

"Ok" Mathew replied

"Goodnight. Don't stay late playing games" Chris chided him and walked out

Then I went to Diane's room and knocked on the door. I heard a 'coming' from the room as I waited outside. With a creak sound, the door opened and Diane jumped to my arms and hugged me saying

"Big brother you are back"

"Yes, how was your day?" Chris asked back

When she heard the question, she pouted and said "Nothing fun happened today"

"Well, didn't Mathew take you to the park to meet with your friends?" Chris asked

"No, they didn't come as their parents were not free to bring them today. And Mathew didn't take me to play with him." Diane replied

"Well, let's do this then. Call your friends and ask if they want to come to our house to play tomorrow. Even if their parents are not free tomorrow, we will go and pick them up and drop them off."

"Yay" she said lifting her hands happily

"Let's go and talk to mom about our plan." Chris said

"Okay" Diane said

She released her hug on me and started to dash down the stairs as I followed her. By the time, I reached downstairs she started to excitedly ask mom to call her friends. I saw mom with a confused face thinking 'what was Diane?' excited about, so, I explained to her the reason for her excitement. Then mom took her phone and called Diane's friends mom and spoke about it. After the call she gave an ok gesture as Diane jumped up and down. Seeing this, we both smiled. Then I took her to her room and tucked her in. as Diane started to get sleepy, I left the room and went back to my room as well to sleep.

NEXT DAY MORNING

I got up early in the morning as usual and did my morning routine. As I freshened up, and came downstairs I heard a 'Ding Dong' sound, confused who came this early. I opened the door and saw George standing outside with a big smile. I sighed and said " You are early, Popeye."

"You know I thought you could use my help." He replied smugly

I led him in as I closed the door behind me and asked

"Did you have breakfast?"

"Yeah but more couldn't hurt" he said with a goofy smile.

"Good Morning, Mom, Dad. We have a guest."

I said as I walked into the hall.

"Good Morning Aunt Uncle"

"Good Morning George."

"Have you had breakfast?"

"Yeah but I would never want to miss the food you make, aunt." He said flattering

"Fawner" Chris murmured as he sat down.

After sometime Dad, Mathew and Diane came to eat breakfast. After breakfast George and Chris along with Diane went out to buy all the groceries as well pick up her friends. After an hour of shopping, we picked her friends and went back home. By the time, we reached home Susan and Richard was already arrived. Along with them we saw two more people, Benjamin and Johnny, their brothers were also there. Benjamin came to drop him while Susan brought her brother as he was alone at home.

Seeing them, Chris and George introduced themselves as well as invited them to stay. Benjamin declined first but we insisted so he accepted it at last. While we were all setting up the grill and table's outside, the doorbell rang again. Mathew ran to open the door and saw Katherine outside.

"Hi, is this Chris's house?" She asked

"Yes. Who are you?" Mathew replied

"I am his friend and he invited me for a party here." Kat asked

"Okay, come on in, he is in the backyard" Mathew replied

Mathew walked to the backyard as he led her. When he reached the backyard, he shouted

"Brother, your friend Katherine is here."

When I heard that I stopped what I was doing and hurriedly went to greet her.

"Hi, did you have any difficulty finding the house." Chris asked

"Nope. Am I late?" she asked awkwardly

"No, you are right on time." Chris replied

Then they both walked to grill as he introduced everyone to her. While I was setting up the grill, she and Susan started to speak and I don't know how but they hit off instantly and were like best friends after two minutes. Diane also went to her looking curiously and made Kat and Sue laugh all with her antics. Seeing this, I also smiled.

Soon, Benjamin approached me and said

"Do you need any help, Christopher?"

"No need Benjamin and please call me Chris."

"Ok. Everyone calls me ben."

"Ok ben."

"Thanks for helping Richard. He can be a dork sometimes."

"Never mind and I don't like bullies either. Do you go to our school?"

"Yes, I am your senior."

"Ohm…"

Then we talked for few more moments and he went to help others. After the grill was heated up, Firstly, I grilled the fishes I caught yesterday. Soon Mathew's friends came and they started to talk and play. Diane and her friends were running here and there while Sue and Kat were talking about the gossips in school. Johnny and Mathew along with his friends went off to somewhere while Ben was helping George.

It was lively. After grilling the fish, I put some sausages and kebabs to grill. I put a chair near it while cutting some vegetables and turning the meats when necessary. Seeing me doing the work, the girls came to help. We talked, laughed and prepared the food.

"Diane, don't play near the grill" I scolded her and she put her tongue out and ran away. After sometime, the boys came back and I asked them to help. That's Diane ran up to me and said

"Big brother, can you sing a song for me?"

"You can sing" Kat asked surprised

"Well, little bit" Chris replied awkwardly

"Can you? Can you?" Diane asked again shaking me

"Why do you want to sing all of sudden?" Chris asked back

"Well, my friends don't believe that you can sing." Diane pouted and said while her friends giggled in the back

"So, you want to show off and you are using me." Chris asked back

Diane giggled and nodded her head alongside sue and Kat. Chris shakes his head and sighed as he couldn't say no when he saw her puppy eyes and shouted

"Mathew bring my guitar"

When he heard me ask for my guitar, Mathew ran inside the house excitedly. He came back in lightning speed with the guitar and gave it to me. Seeing this, everyone was looking at me curiously, I said

"I am will sing a song for livening up the atmosphere. Please bear with it if there is any mistake." Chris said as everyone nodded while I could see stars in my sister's and brother's and excitement in George's eyes.

I took the guitar and played with it for a few seconds as a warm up and then I sat upright as I slowly started playing it.

After I slowly stopped the song, everybody clapped and praised me. Then I kept the guitar to the side and started to tend to the food as everybody went to back what they were doing.

By the time for lunch, the food was prepared and was put on the table. They were sausages, kebabs, grilled fish with tartar sauce, salad, rice and soups. We all sat around the table, chatted and ate the food. After having a sumptuous lunch, we all together cleaned up. After it was cleaned up, we all sat outside and talked while watching the children playing.

In the evening, me and George dropped Diane's friends at their house. We confirmed that the girls safely reached in the hands of their parents after only which we left their place. Ben and Richard gave the lift for Sue and Johnny to their home. Mathew's friends went by themselves while I went to personally sent away Kat to her house.

When I came back home mom and dad had already reached back from their outing and enquired about the day and about Diane's friends. I told them I personally handed the girls to their mother after which only they relaxed. We also spoke about each other's day.

In the night, after dinner I tucked in Diane and told her a story for her to sleep. After she fell asleep, I went back to the room and changed the dress and went to sleep.
