Chapter 8: Glance

[Time check--- 2:00 pm Friday]

When I open my eyes what I have seen is my classroom once again, then my eyes check the clock and I confirm that I have an hour left before the call came

'1 hour huh'

I clench my fist and feel that coldness from back then, her hand is as cold as ice, her face is not having any emotion as if shes been in a deep sleep. A never ending sleep.

'This time...'

I resolved myself as I check my surroundings, my eyes are searching for the white hooded fairy but cannot find her.

'Thank you Dyne, though I have many questions but it can be done later, what I need to do is-'

I stand up and I took all the attention of my classmates

'Of course, this is not easy'

I felt nervous and sweat is pouring from my forehead.

"What is the matter Kiro'

The teacher called my name and I felt more nervous

'What should I do? Did I need to say that I need to go out and save my mother? But they will brandish me as weird and brush it off'

As I panic in my thoughts, the teacher is now standing at my front.

'Darn it, speak time is running'

When I decided to open my mouth someone shouted instead

"Sir, Kiro has an emergency to be taken care of," Hirai shouted and the whole class look at her including me and the professor.

"Is that true? Mr. Yougaza"

"Yes, Sir. If you may excuse me" I bowed and get my things and wince at Hirai and whispered a thank you as I passed by.

'Make sure to explain it to me after this'

Hirai whispered back, her eyes like always are seeping through the inner soul of mine. As if she knows what is happening yet still wanted me to speak it beforehand.

'What a great best friend I have'

I smiled and left the classroom.

I immediately went to the secret passage outside that I use if I am late.

Now that I am outside, I analyse my situation first.

'The time my mother dies is exactly 3pm, right now I have less than 1 hour and from here to the hospital will take an hour too. Now what!'

I tried to plan what shall I should do now but nothing is coming to mind yet so I decided to take the short route as I can but the moment I leave the school premise I felt an indescribable feeling and nervousness.

"Really, Does the world hate me or so"

I chuckled but I resolved myself and left the school premises as fast as I can.

When I do so, countless accidents almost put me in danger but I ignored it for now and focused on going to my mother first.

'I don't know why Dyne is not here might be it's one of the rules she said'

Time check--- 2:20,

Time is ticking and I find myself in a very crowded street and now in the middle of traffic

I felt anxious and hurried and there is something that is bothering me

'Dyne said that I must follow the old pattern but what I am doing is against it but I don't care'

Once again I determined to myself, that whenever what happens I'll save my mother yet even though I cannot do anything with this traffic.

'I will not achieve anything if I continue this route. Is there something that can make me move faster'

I brainstormed my thoughts for ways I am stumble to motorcycle

I look at it carefully,

'I am not licensed and moreover I am very young to drive this but there's no other choice, God has given me the chance to change my fate and others and I will grab it no matter what. That's right, even death can't stop me I've already come back to life twice that's why I am not afraid to die if that will save my mother I am willing to do it'

I ride the motor in my front, and luckily it is not locked or anything, so I put the helmet hanging on it and put it to my head. Come on, let's do this.

The engine started and I suddenly dashed out in the open and went to the forest to make my way more convenient. Though it is not safe I have no choice but to take this route.

This zigzag pattern will kill me, but I can't worry about that now. I need to get there before 3:10, that's right I need to beat time at all cost. I pull the lever to its maximum speed and drive like crazy, though it is forest there are still some people living or inside of it and they almost get hit by me.

"Sorry!"

I shouted and continued going like this, I am getting closer and I can't stop to feel nervous and frightened,

"Will I make it? No, I must make it"

I pulled the lever once again and dashed to her office with the motor.

The wheel screeched as it stop before it clash in the office of my Mom. I put off my helmet and went inside her office. I can see there are still no people around, maybe they are in the break I look at the time

[Time check--- 2:50]

'Only 10 minutes left, yes.. I've managed to make it'

I hurriedly went to her room and looked around. But she is not here, moreover her work here is not done yet.

'I am getting a bad feeling about this'

I looked around every corner and I found a door going to a new room of her office.

'I think this is where she works'

I grab the doorknob but it is not locked. I open it and was surprised by what I've seen.

My mother is lying on the ground and can't breathe. I immediately went to her aid and helped her but her chest is aching too. In my panic, I get out in the room and find a payphone and call for an ambulance. After making the call, I went beside her and ease the pain,

"Mother, hang in there the ambulance is coming ..." I said and she just smile and look at me.

'Don't look at me like that as if you're going already. I've travelled time in order to save you so please, be strong'

"K.... k..Kiro" she said and put her hands to my head, brushing my hair

"Mother, don't speak.. the ambulance is coming"

"kiro..." she coughed and I tried to help her breath normally yet she me and smile at me

"Mother!!... please be strong!" I shouted and hugged her tight.

"K..iro" she cling and look at me

I can hear the ambulance they are near so I look outside and signaled them that we are here, they take my mother and I hold her hand while I am in the ambulance.

As I watch my mother laying in the bed she suddenly said something that gives me a shock

"You know...—I've seen a beautiful fairy with golden wings. Haha.. I thought I am having illusion she is real. She said that she is taking care of you... and I said thank you"

"Yes ... we can thank her together, I also know her. Her name is Dyne"

I answered and hold her hands, her fair skin is suddenly getting paler.

"Mother, don't die"

I beg and tears are falling from my eyes.

'Ahh there you are miss fairy, I'll leave Kiro to your hands now, Though I am reluctant to leave him suddenly, but Death is inevitable right'

The fairy that reflects in her eyes look and sad as it nods

"Kiro, I love you. My son"

"I love you too... MOM!"

I replied and put her hands to my chest, I want to feel her warmth once last time, her warm touch, her soothing voice when she is happy, her scary voice when I've done something bad.

As her warmth fades I found myself crying

That's how I face the second death of my mother
