"NO MORE!"
Seraphine and Solaire, both were the first to drop exhausted out of their minds literally. Fighting like that would get them hurt and tire out their mental fortitude that they needed more rest. Even Adrian was exhausted as he was leaning against the wall in the Bonefire room.
Outside the room, Sif and Russ had fallen asleep while his inventory was surging with the armor, weapons, and shields of giants. Good thing he did not have a carry limit, but he would need to throw out a lot.
They had all run the giant run about 15 times which resulted in Adrian having about 4,500,000 souls for all of them. He had not actually used his soul, but now it was time to do it.
<Level ups: 74.>
Adrian looked at the vast amount of souls he had acquired, but it reminded him that it was just a drop in the tank if he wanted to get to max level. Still, the system gave him a message.
<Khorne is watching you. He is impressed with your bloodbath and harvest of skulls.>
<Mission Offered: Erect Alter for Khorne in this world. Reward: Blessing of Khorne. Offer Skulls to the Skull Throne?>
'HELL NO!'
<Offer Denied. Khorne has branded you as a blood enemy. You have made an enemy of Khrone, God of Blood and Skulls?>
Adrian felt a bit of fear and he asked the system for the most important fact.
'Can he get to me?'
<No. When the host enters Warhammer, Khorne will know, and his followers will hunt the host down.>
'Ok, that's fine. For now, I won't think about him. Time to Level up. I will use 70 of my level-ups and use the remainder of the souls to buy material. 20 to Vitality, 23 to Endurance, 20 to Dexterity, 7 to strength.
-Vitality: 30(50)
-Attunement: 20
-Endurance: 27(50)
-Strength: 50(57)
-Dexterity: 40(60)
-Resistance: 25
-Intelligence: 20
-Faith: 20
Once that was done his huge amount of souls was reduced to a meager 500,000 compared to the former 4 million souls. Most ouls he ever saw in one sitting though. At that moment when the giant amount of souls entered his lord's soul, he felt pure pleasure.
When his vitality went up he got healthier and could heal from injuries better, when his strength went up he could out more power, when endurance increased his stamina and endurance, when dexterity went up it made him more nimble and faster.
He also was going to learn how to use pyromancy and sorcery, but for that, he needed actually magic training. When he finished off Ornstein and returned went to the treasury of Anor Londo he would be happy.
Once he was up he popped his neck as he felt everything was better than ever. He looked at Solaire and Seraphine who prayed that he did not ask them to do it all over again.
"We will not go after the giants now."
They fell to their knees and thanks to the all mighty which was Gwyn in this case. However, they remembered that he was the one who possibly ordered the Fume Knights to die so they stopped.
"Sorry."
Adrian shook his head as he walked out of the building as it was time to meet his old friend. He was kind of confident but at the same time kind of worried as Ornstein was one of the strongest characters in the lore.
Sure he was strong, but who knew how many souls Ornstein had harvested in his eons of battle.
"Time to find out."
When he came out he saw Sif and Russ were already up and they looked to be keeping an eye out. The giant sword was back in the sheath on his right side. Adrian looked all around as he was going to fight Ornstein while Solaire and Seraphine fought Smough.
He looked at Seraphine and Solaire who used the souls they got to boost themselves up just as much as him.
"Time to find Ornstein and fuck him up. I got to find my dragon too."
Seraphine and Solaire nodded.
"Fine by us, fighting a Knight of Gwyn will be legendary."
Solaire was even giddier.
"May the sun guide our blades and keep us alive in this battle."
Adrian looked at his weapons and wanted to upgrade them, but both required the dragon forge in heart of Anor Londo underground. He also wanted his dragon back and if she was alive, she would be down there. They began the trip up into the actual castle of Anor Londo.
As they did they were fired upon by the silver knights who were just as numerous as the giants. If it was before it would have been much harder as they were the elite guards of Anor Londo.
Hundreds rushed out and it made Solaire sigh.
"Why? Why must we always fight armies of them?"
Seraphine nodded as she gazed at the hundreds of bows aimed at them.
"Well, this is the home of the gods so it is what it is."
Adrian had to agree.
"Well, time to put our army training to the test."
Solaire dodged a giant arrow going for his head easily. Even Sif and Russ had gotten stronger from the number of souls they had eaten. They might not level up, but their own form of power was still just as good.
Arrows rained down on them from the sky, but Solaire was ready. He stepped forward and used Wrath of Gods which caused a giant force that blasted the arrows out of the way. At that same time, Russ blasted the knights with dragon fire.
They simply raised their shields as they were used to this. They fought the true dragons and as such, they were much, much stronger than the giants. They did not speak, for speaking was useless on the battlefield.
Most switched over to their swords and spears as they charged forward to the traitors. The Fume Knights were dead and they should have stayed dead. A sword swing from one of them was answered by a kick to the face from a very angry Fume Knight.
He did not know why he hated the silver knights so much, but he did. He wanted to know what they did to his men and he would do everything to figure it out. A good thing was that after his last level up, he moved like an agile ninja with the strength of a berserk.
A swing of his sword freed the heads of the Knights in front of him. Losses were nothing to them, as in the Age of War for every dragon killed cost them many. His every swing would cleave the head of one, or smash their shields.
His strength and dexterity were not just for show as he was slaughtering them. He was not the only one who was hard at work as Solaire and Seraphine were holding their own in this battle of attrition.
Even though they were killing many of the knights it did not mean that it was easy as these were not just random human knights. They were Silver Knights and only the top of the top was alive now and they showed it.
They worked as a unit and one would take the blow of another so one could attack. It made so they reduced casualties against the invaders. Still, they also had to deal with Sif and Russ who used blitz tactics to hit them hard and fast.
As such the silver knights were forced to split in two to deal with Seraphine, Solaire, and Adrian along with the drake and wolf. Doing them sentenced them to death as their formation was broken and the 3 berserkers got in the thick of it.
After an entire hour of battle, the walkways were littered with the destroyed bodies of the silver knights who were put down temporarily. It reminded him of Demons from 40k as they were nearly impossible to kill.
He took a deep breath as he finally got his souls.
<250 Silver Knights killed. Souls: 500,000 souls.>
Compared to the giants it was more, but the effort for it was off the charts. Even with the levels, they got from the giants this was still brutal. Even now Adrian had several spears in his body.
He started to pull them out which caused him to begin to bleed. He spat out some blood and chuckled at how hard this was. He was kind of regretting asking for this world to become harder now.
Seraphine looked at the holes in her armor and his and was not so sure about this.
"It took us all that to just get through the Silver Knights and we are still not there?"
Adrian shook his head.
"I know someone who will help us?"
Solaire looked at him confused.
"Who?"
Adrian removed his helmet that needed some real maintenance.
"A giant."
They took the elevator contraption and with the Silver Knights dead for now, they were more a less good. They even found the Bonefire, but they did not dare rest at it yet. Adrian led them to the giant Blacksmith who was still hammering away at a tiny dagger.
When he heard footsteps he looked up and froze. He stood up and walked to Adrian and picked him up in a giant bear hug. Adrian hugged him back and patted him on the back.
"I am glad to see you big guy, but you're crushing my organs."
He put down Adrian and wiped his teary eyes.
"Alive you are. Dead you were."
Adrian needed to know.
"What happened to me? Us? Where are my knights? August?"
The giant got silent as he looked down.
"Dungeon. Dead most. Mad most of rest is. August, don't know."
Adrian felt the worst memory of all as he found himself on a giant battlefield where he and the Fume Knights were being attacked by even more giants and silver knights. His Fume Knights were fighting tooth and nail and took down scores of them.
It was Ornstein who was leading the attack as even though Gwyn was long gone and had ordered them to protect Anor Londo his pride refused to accept the Fume Knights. They were traitors and had to be dealt with.
Most of the Silver Knights and Giants agreed with this as they did not view dragons in any good way. Many of their comrades were massacred by the dragons and so bad blood stuck around. For every Fume Knight killed, they took over a hundred with them.
He and August were at the front lines as they led the knights in a counterattack. Both of them slaughter any who came near them as August used a sword spear just like the Nameless king.
"Captain, you need to go. We will fight for your escape."
Adrian ignored his words and cut down 10 giants on his own. It was obvious why there were only about 200 silver knights and giants left here as the Fume Knights killed most of them.
"No, we fight together, we die together."
He raised his giant flaming sword in the air and pointed It forward.
"WE MAY DIE! BUT THEY DIE WITH US! NO PRISONERS! NO MERCY! NO RESPITE!"
The Fume Knights numbered about 200 before this, but now only 110 remained. Still, those last ones would not go down without a price of blood. All o them were drenched in blood, both theirs and the enemies.
"HURRA! HURRA! HURRA! HURRA! FOR THE FIRSTBORN!"
Adrian and August whistled and from the sky over three true flew down behind them. Two of them were bred from drakes and wyverns to increase the purity of dragon blood in them through the ages.
They were mostly successful except they were both dwarfed by Adrian's genuine Ancient Dragon in the middle. The three took giant breaths and were blasted genuine dragon fire that turned many giants and silver knights to ash. Seeing the dragons made Ornstein step in personally.
These were the last three as the rest were littering the battlefield. It cost the lives of thousands to end them, but that was fine in the eyes of Ornstein. As long as dragon kind died he was pleased.
He still had over 5,000 remainings, but after this battle, he would regret his choise. Only 200 giants and silver knights would remain and the three dragons were sealed by the final spell of the Fume Knight's God. Dragon Sanctuary.
(Nameless King when he was a God. My own addition.)
It placed the dragons in the heart of Anor Londo until the one who placed the seal undid it. The whole battle went wrong for Ornstein, and he nearly died as well. Only 10 Fume Knights survived along with August.
As for Adrian, he was killed by swarm tactics and Ornstein. The survivors were imprisoned in the deepest pit of the dungeon with no hope to escape. At that moment when the memory ended Adrian was the most enraged he had ever been.
He calmed down as it was not his memory, but it still pissed him off. He experienced it and he knew he would have to kill the fucker himself.
"Giant, fire up your forge. I need some work done."
The giant nodded and got to work. At that moment Adrian bought some Twinkling Titanite Ingots which were not in the game. They were better than chunks, but each one cost him 25,000 souls. More than worth it as he was going to go all out for this.
He bought some more for Seraphine's armor and sword, but Solaire needed regular Titanite which they had in droves. The giant nodded and did not ask. His forge was ready for whatever they needed.
It was time to kill Ornstein, and as painful as possible.
Last Chapter of the Day. Ornstein will be a real treat. No cake walk and will push Adrian to his limits. A real fight. I the most excited about it I think.
