Mallory the unfortunate child born from a human among a tribe of leopard demihumans was bullied and shunned since young due to her being slightly weaker, being a bearer of bad luck and because she was an easy target. Even when she kept trying to overcome her trials and difficulties, she still ended up in a poor situation and that is when her previous life’s memories returned along with a skill which had been awakened. How will she survive in the Danmachi world? I do not claim to own Danmachi, its plot or characters but there are some changes I may make to the original story and add my own characters. It felt like she was burning through her talismans very quickly and there was a limit to what types she could make use of in different situations.
It was not like she could make use of her fire based talismans since they were far too destructive for the environment so she had to rely on others.
A fire spreading in a forest environment would not only cause too much unwanted destruction but it could endanger her life and others too who would be trapped within the spreading forest fire.
The only option was to make use of the talismans she had unless she was able to contain the fire talismans to stop them from spreading.
The main issue was that there was a risk of the fire being spread out even if she contained it within a barrier since there were others with enough power to break out.
It was not very efficient to make use of her barrier talismans in a large number to contain a small number of enemies within just to allow that strategy to succeed.
A lot of her barriers were still being used to protect herself so they could not be spared for a strategy that used more than four to contain a person inside.
It required too much preparation and strategy to be able to get it to work and if the enemy caught on to what her plan was then it would waste them reducing the amount she could use to protect herself.
More arrows came at her on target which were difficult to dodge all the time especially when she was focussed on avoiding harm from others.
She killed one breaking through the encirclement then stabbed someone to her left while they were still trying to recover rom the strong gust of wind that blew everyone close by back or to the ground.
Valis stabbed accurately towards their throat and was taken back quickly allowing there to be little delay in her movements.
Her legs leapt forward clearing more distance and she was safe from being surrounded.
Another enemy came from her right all of a sudden and threw something towards her.
It looked like a small pouch which would do her no harm but once it opened a little, the contents spilled out around Mallory.
A strange powder was released that scattered all around where Mallory was located.
Even with her attempts to not breathe it in or let it into her system, Mallory had begun to feel strange.
The effects of whatever poison was used had begun to spread through her body quickly which caused her body to feel weird.
Her throat and nose started to feel irritated along with some slight stinging pain spreading through her body that had begun to heat up.
Just as that was happening to her body, a white light enveloped her body.
It was one of the talismans that would respond to harm being done to her and was the type that would respond to poisons.
The cleansing and purifying talismans were great to use for their effects but they had one fatal problem.
If the user could not call out the chant then they would be in big trouble and would be unable to rid themselves of what was harming them.
In order to overcome that fatal flaw, Mallory worked hard to make one that activated the moment someone was afflicted something that would be harmful.
It would not deal with the problem in the surroundings but during the time that it was active and working, it would cure the body of its ailment and provide it enough time to be able to avoid taking on any more of the harmful effects once again.
Mallory was wrapped up in the light as it invaded her body and spread within.
It was warm and gentle within her and encountered the substance that was harming her.
The poison powder that entered her body was met with the light and was unable to resist as a lot of it was destroyed.
Anything else that remained was pushed out of her body whether it was released through her pores or some other method.
Mallory coughed spitting up some black substance as she kept moving, she reached towards another talisman then spoke. "Wind gust."
The talisman was pointed towards her right side so once it was activated, a weak gust of wind was released sending some of the poisonous powder back towards the original owner.
The dog person who was firing arrows from further away was starting to show some irritation as he saw his allies being dealt with one at a time. "Damn.."
The bow he held in his hand had a very unique design, unlike most bows that curved one way, the front of it had sharp hooks designed on them.
It did not look like an average weapon that was to be used only for ranged combat.
His grip on it became tighter as he finally left the protection of his shield wall joining those on the front lines of the battle.
The gaze that he had shown towards Mallory was full of annoyance and his determination to put an end to everything.
It was like the previous events were just him playing around with Mallory but his patience had ran out.
So many chances slipped away to kill her and he was losing more lives to her so he could no longer watch from far away.
He leapt into action shooting off another arrow while quickly pulling back his bow again to rapidly fire off another.
Each one came flying toward Mallory who had just escaped the area affected by the poisonous powder.
His eyes rested upon the allies of his that were clutching their throats and had tears coming from their eyes then shouted. "Hurry and pass out the antidote you damn fools!"
It was not just one person who was affected by the counterattack of Mallory and many of them were poisoned after the weaker gust of wind carried the poisonous powder towards them.
If it was not for the warning of their leader then they may still have reacted in time to cure themselves but they were still grateful for the reminder since they were able to snap back into action once again.
