Danger Rising

Just as Mallory was starting to alleviate some of the pressure on her, the feeling of danger began to spike back up once again.

She was kept busy dodging all kinds of attacks from every angle while trying to find an opening to remove a single person at a time.

After hearing the warning being given by the leader of the group, Mallory reached into her bag and picked up a handful of talismans before throwing them back towards the direction of those that were poisoned.

With the warning being given, they stopped for a moment and looked for the antidote they were carrying in case of emergencies.

It made them excellent targets who were standing still and were not fully concentrating on the battle.

Mallory was further away so their main priority was to solve the main issue which was the poison.

They did not think that Mallory would have enough free time to come back or to turn back to target them.

She did not have the time to do so but that did not stop her from throwing a handful of talismans in their direction without looking back.

"Wind blade!"

"Wind blade!"

"Wind blade!"

"Wind blade!"

One by one the scattered talismans lit up as the magic power travelled along the ink before brightening further.

Once enough magic power had formed in the ink, the talisman ripped apart and a single wind blade was released that went flying in the direction the talismans were thrown.

One wind blade became two then they kept being released as they flew in the same direction but with slightly different angles and targets.

They were not aimed well enough and each one had their trajectory changed slightly after being carried by the wind when they were thrown out.

Many wind blades flew towards the group but there were quite a few that passed by them and missed.

Others were able to avoid the wind blade in time to avoid damage or were only hit somewhere that there was armour on their body.

Among them was a couple of wind blades that were more on target and hit their target causing a deep wound to form on their body.

Their previous worries about the poison were then replaced with the sudden large wound and the possibility of others near them being in a more critical condition that needed a healing potion to heal.

One unlucky man stood holding his throat as blood spilled down from the wound left there then he fell down to the ground.

Mallory kept running forward not looking back but a figure caught up to her and appeared to her left.

An arrow was fired at a close range causing a barrier to automatically form to protect her from harm.

The arrow bounced off the barrier leaving it in tact then the figure who shot it leapt up into the air firing several arrows at once down towards Mallory.

It seemed like the leader of the group had figured out how her barriers worked and had found a simple way to let his shots not be blocked by every barrier.

Once the barrier was triggered, he jumped up to a height where the barrier was able to reach giving him a betted angle to fire upon Mallory over where the barrier formed.

Mallory rolled across the ground and quickly climbed back to her feet zig zagging to avoid his arrows but it was becoming much more dangerous every second.

More pressure was coming upon her from the leader and it made it easier for the others to get close enough to corner her again.

The leader leapt up close after firing enough arrows to lead her towards where he wanted her to go then ran closed the distance in an instant.

Mallory's emerald green eyes widened as she saw the dog person appear so close to her despite them being mainly an archer.

The metallic bow was swung towards her and Mallory raised Valis to block it.

The two weapons clashed several times when they were both still on the move then something unexpected happened.

The hooked part of the metallic bow caught hold of Valis and was strongly tugged and twisted away from her hands leaving her without her weapon.

Valis was left lying on the ground further behind and Mallory was unable to turn back to retrieve it.

The danger Mallory felt at that moment began to spike up dramatically as she was lead further and further into the trap designed by the enemy.

Her stamina was not unlimited and her main means of attacking from further away was gone.

All that was left was the remaining talismans she brought with her and even those would not last that long with how often she was using them.

They were being used more often after she lost Valis and it was looking a lot like she would run out soon.

She did her best to make use of some small opportunities to take out someone but the group still outnumbered her enough to cause her problems even after killing some with the offensive talismans she possessed.
