Chapter 83: Firing out excuses

3rd person POV

Alice is in her room organizing papers on her desk as she snacked on some biscuits. It looks like as if she hasn't slept for days because her face is paler than usual and her eyes are a bit sunken.

She has a servant on stand by to come in and pour her coffee every time she wants it by pressing a button.

"Those 2 really are a mystery, it seems like those 2 siblings appeared out of nowhere and they were poor and homeless from the get go. All their initial documents were fake before the Lagunas helped them." Alice mumbled "Now, are they secret children of the admins or are they from worlds other than the human race?"

Alice is extremely curious about their true origins, they could be some man made homunculus and if they are, she wants to know who they are. The 2 siblings are too powerful for their own good and no excuses can explain it.

Richard is also an anomaly, a human whose age is past his prime and yet he's still that powerful, but it's strange that despite his strength and ability to retain it, he has never risen to first place even once. he was amongst the top before even she joined.

But she has done proper research, he is nothing but a normal powerful human raider.

And if such an organization exist, that means she must ally with them no matter the cost, there is a high chance that monsters like Perseus will be born again and could even be more superior.

Cordelia POV

As we were given a tour, there are some people chattering the arrival of the famous Silver siblings who were spotted several times near the world tree and people seems to want to check them out.

It make sense, those 2 are amongst the strongest people amongst all the races and now that I learned that they're demigods whose ranks are even higher than what's shown the list, well I pity anyone who gets on their bad side.

Despite being first years, we're supposed to be training and dueling against students of the nearby prestigious raider prep school and no rules have been said that doesn't allow Perseus to participate in such events for the first time in forever.

Perseus has been waiting to, in his words, 'school some rich losers in their place'. Let's hope he goes a bit easy on them. But we were then led to this nearby barracks.

"Well this trip isn't all fun and games, hope that you're prepared because today, you're going to train with the royal guards." Craig announced "They are a very popular career option for graduates or dropouts or someone who chose to no longer climb the tower."

Of course we have some sudden training. The guards in there looks like they were expecting it from the looks on their faces. As for my class, well...as much as they look devasted...they half expected this.

We are now in tower academy, an academy where potential raiders study so that they can survive past the tutorial floors, you are pushed to your limits every single training and force you to surpass your own limits.

And once you graduate, no matter what class you are, you are battle ready, and if you choose to climb the tower, you are then force to meet life and death situations where everyday you spend in there might just be your last, that will then catapult you further until you stagnate after a few years.

"Luckily Perseus told me to bring my equipment with me at all times, let's get this over with, might as well get knocked out like usual and enjoy a good night sleep."

"The fact that we're normalizing this kind of attitude and expectations both irritates me and bothers me." Alvis commented

Perseus POV

"How? We made made used of Perseus ability to run super fast like a superhero to checked every spot near this stupid tr-" Struan stopped himself before he offended his own race "Oh I almost offended my own race. Damn it."

"I'm a duke of this race too, so count me in the people who will be offended."

"Oh shut up, the only reason you're a duke is cuz the queen likes you."

Too much back then, but he doesn't need to know. And he's being quite rude to a duke right now, if it wasn't the easygoing me, he might be in trouble if it's with other nobles, they value rank and status here as a really great thing.

"Well Struan, I got an idea, can you use your position to talk with some local law enforcements to check to see all the guards that are stationed here and anyone of high status that has been allowed inside the tree while I'll head to request the directory from the queen."

"Oh that's a good idea, someone might have already taken the jade piece ahead of time." Diana commented "Alright, I'll go with you."

"Can you not? I don't want you to see me put on my stupid duke act."

"It's not like I'll torture the woman like I did with Emma and what I plan to do with your new partner in order to test her resolve." she replied "Besides it'll be funny to see you act like that in your current kimono, did you give up and just went with trainers today?"

"Some Japanese do it as well, albeit rare and besides, this is more comfortable. And this is just the usual nagagi, it's for informal purposes and to make me look really cool."

Even though it's somewhat true, my brain is just firing out excuses right now, us siblings are protective of each other and same thing for her, if she finds a partner, that partner will need my approval by passing a test of some sorts.

And despite me and Valentina no longer being with each other, we're friendly and it might be too friendly by some people's standard, I would love to date every women at once, but I'm not a harem protagonist, I want just one, taking care of one relationship is already hard, don't want to have any more stress.
