Chapter 14: Yuki's new Bodyguard

"Hey you!" An officer's voice boomed across the street, drawing Yuki's attention. With a playful grin, he turned to face the officer, amused by the serious look on the man's face. "Stop at once," the officer commanded, likely bewildered by Yuki, who suddenly appeared out of thin air.

Stopping in his tracks, Yuki couldn't help but find the situation rather entertaining. He had grown accustomed to people's reactions when he teleported, and this officer was no exception.

"Could I see your Hero License?" The officer's smile was warm and friendly, but Yuki knew what the man was thinking. A child like him wouldn't have a hero license.

Just as the officer expected, Yuki indeed had no license to use his quirk, yet here he was, teleporting through the city. "I don't have one," Yuki replied with a hint of uncertainty, anticipating the usual scolding he received from others when they discovered his quirk usage without a license.

However, to his surprise, the police officer's response was different. "Illegal Quirk Usage? Then I will require you to accompany me to the police station," the officer declared firmly, his expression serious.

Yuki blinked in disbelief, not expecting this turn of events. He had always managed to talk his way out of similar encounters before, but it seemed this officer was not willing to let him off easily.

Without hesitation, the officer snapped a picture of Yuki and quickly sent a message through his communication device, alerting the authorities to the situation. "I have captured a kid that illegally used his quirk, find out his ID," he relayed, his tone decisive.

"Get in the car!" the officer commanded, motioning to the police vehicle parked nearby. Yuki weighed his options for a split second, assessing the situation. Running away was tempting, but he knew that wouldn't solve anything. Instead, he chose to comply, stepping into the backseat of the patrol car.

As they drove towards the police station, Yuki could hear the officer muttering under his breath, his words sending shivers down his spine. "Finally, I got another kid," the officer said with a sinister tone.

"Today I will once again be able to make a fortune," the officer continued, revealing his vile plan to blackmail Yuki's family. This officer was determined to tarnish Yuki's reputation and use it as a means to extort money from his family.

Yet, the truth was that cases like this weren't that rare in this world. Corruption ran deep in some parts of society, and rogue officers often took advantage of their positions for personal gain. The officer who had captured Yuki was just one among many, tainted by the allure of easy money and power.

In this world where heroes were celebrated and idolized, the police force had taken a backseat, facing financial struggles and budget cuts. Many officers found themselves underpaid and disillusioned, leading some to resort to unscrupulous means to make ends meet.

The law, unfortunately, provided little protection against such corruption. Instead, it seemed to turn a blind eye, allowing these rogue officers to roam freely, preying on unsuspecting families. The heavy fines imposed on quirk usage only added fuel to their schemes, pushing desperate families towards compliance.

The threat of branding a child as a villain, even if they were just a baby, was a terrifying prospect for parents. After all, once declared a villain, their child could be judged as an adult in court, forcing them to consider giving in to blackmail. But little did these corrupt officers know that they had chosen the wrong target this time.

After arriving at the police station, the officer wasted no time, immediately dragging Yuki into a dimly lit interrogation room. The officer then began to recite Yuki's rights with a threatening tone. "You have the right to remain silent, but anything you say can and will be used against you!" The officer's gaze bore into Yuki, an unsettling smile playing on his lips. "But personally, I suggest you talk, or else I might lose my patience and declare your illegal quirk usage as a villainous act and therefore brand you as a villain."

As the interrogation continued inside the dimly lit room, two more officers lurked outside, their intentions equally corrupt as their colleague who had captured Yuki. They chatted casually, their voices filled with sinister intentions.

"Have you already found out his parents' number?" one officer asked the other, a sly grin forming on his face.

"Yes, should we request a generous sponsorship of 1 million yen like usual?" Another replied.

"Sure, you know the way," the first officer said, a dark glint in his eye. "Perhaps the boss can get even more blackmail content out of him."

Meanwhile, inside the interrogation room the officer continued his relentless questioning of Yuki. "Can I make a call to my lawyer?" Yuki's voice cut through the heavy air, surprising the corrupt officer for a moment.

The officer, taken aback by the audacity of a mere child making such a request, burst into mocking laughter. "You dimwit have a lawyer, as if," he sneered, dismissing Yuki's plea as nothing more than childish delusions. Nevertheless, he handed over a phone, thinking there could be no harm in letting the boy pretend to seek help.

Unbeknownst to the corrupt officer, Yuki had more tricks up his sleeve than he could ever imagine. With a sense of urgency, he dialed his parents' number.

"Dad, can you interrogate XX police. They want to declare me a villain," Yuki said into the phone, his voice steady.

As his words echoed through the receiver, the officer's laughter echoed in response. He saw it as nothing more than a desperate attempt from a child, believing that Yuki's father held no sway in this corrupt world.

Sure enough, a minute later, the door to the interrogation room swung open, and another police officer rushed in, addressing the one conducting the interrogation. "Yes, Sir. One moment, Sir. He is here, Sir," he said, handing over a communication device to the officer in charge, who just also happened to be the one interrogating Yuki.

"Who am I talking to?" The police officer responded with an annoyed tone, clearly unaware of the imminent storm about to descend upon him.

Yuki's acute senses allowed him to hear the response from the phone clearly. "Do you know who you are talking to?" The voice on the other end dripped with authority, making the corrupt officer's blood run cold.

"Yes Sir," the officer stammered, his arrogance melting away as he quickly realized the grave mistake he had made.

"I JUST GOT A CALL FROM THE POLICE CHIEF, IMMEDIATELY RELEASE WHO YOU JUST TRIED TO APPREHEND, YOU ARE FIRED!" A booming voice echoed through the phone, sending shivers down the corrupt officer's spine. He knew he had crossed a line that should never have been approached.

"Release him!" The officer stammered, his arrogance now replaced with panic as he fumbled to undo the restraints holding Yuki. The weight of his actions bore down on him heavily, and he understood the gravity of the situation he had foolishly created.

The other officer standing beside him couldn't believe his ears. "What?" he questioned, bewildered by the sudden turn of events.

"Damn! Release him!" The officer repeated, fear now evident in his voice. The weight of the consequences pressed down on him heavily, and he knew he had to salvage what was left of him.

"Do you want to survive this day?" he continued, his voice shaking. "If you want to, then do what I tell you to do! AND I SAY RELEASE HIM!"

Yuki, however, remained unfazed by the officer's frantic attempts to rectify his blunder. He simply smiled, a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. The once-arrogant police officers now became incredibly polite, their tone submissive.

After being released Yuki activated his teleportation magic, teleporting himself away from the police station and back to the safety of his home. As he materialized in his living room, he was immediately greeted by his father.

Shinji's expression was a mixture of satisfaction and pride, his eyes locking onto Yuki's. 'Got you this time,' his father's unspoken words seemed to echo in the room.

"Looks like getting rid of all your bodyguards was not that good of an idea," Shinji remarked.

Yuki, well aware that his father had something in mind, took a seat, mentally preparing himself for the conversation that lay ahead. "Yes," he replied simply, ready to hear what his father had to say.

"Since you always escape from your bodyguards, I have another proposition for you," Shinji continued. With a snap of his fingers, a woman stepped gracefully into the room, her presence commanding attention.

Yuki's gaze met the woman's indigo-colored hair, highlighted by delicate pink streaks that added a touch of vibrancy to her appearance. Her ponytail cascaded down her back with elegance, complementing her striking purple eyes, tinged with a captivating mauve hue. The two shoulder-length strands framing her face accentuated her intense gaze, while her deep blue eyebrows exuded an air of authority and confidence.

Upon seeing her, Yuki immediately recognized her. Lady Nagant, a character he had admired in the anime, stood right before him. As she approached Yuki, she held out her hand and gently touched Yuki's arm for a moment, just as Shinji had instructed her to do before Yuki arrived.

"From this day onward, she will serve you as both your attendant and bodyguard," his father declared with a touch of satisfaction in his voice.

As Yuki's eyes met Lady Nagant's, he couldn't deny the allure she possessed. A beautiful and skilled woman like her seemed like an intriguing choice compared to the other bodyguards he had reluctantly dealt with before. Yet, his independent spirit couldn't help but seek a way to escape this arrangement.

He looked at his father with a sly grin, seizing the opportunity to question the decision. "Isn't she a criminal? Are you sure you can entrust my safety to someone like her?"

"No. Turn on the TV and watch the news, then you will understand," Shinji said to his son, a knowing glint in his eyes, as he reached for the remote to switch on the television.

As the screen flickered, Yuki's curiosity peaked. The news anchor's urgent voice filled the room, delivering a bombshell that left Yuki stunned.

"We just got breaking news. Ex-Hero Lady Nagant was judged with false charges. The Hero Public Safety Commission bribed the judge. Any charges against her were dropped, and the new president of the Hero Public Safety Commission made a public apology!" The message echoed through the room.

'Sure enough, father once again used his influence,' Yuki thought, marveling at the way his father operated behind the scenes. He could already imagine how Shinji had orchestrated the chain of events, leveraging his connections and resources to secure Lady Nagant's loyalty.

"I accept, under the condition that she can catch me!" Yuki declared to his father. With those words, he activated his teleportation quirk, vanishing before anyone could react. He was confident that Lady Nagant would never be able to catch up to him.

"You heard him, bring him back," Shinji commanded, unfazed by his son's challenge.

Lady Nagant nodded, as she activated the artificial quirk implanted within her not long ago. The artificial quirk granted her the power to teleport to any location she marked. For instance, she had marked Yuki the moment she touched him earlier, precisely as Shinji had commanded her to do, because he already expected Yuki to make a move like that.

With a fierce determination, she honed in on Yuki's mark and initiated the teleportation sequence. In an instant, she vanished from the room.

Yuki's mind raced as he tried to comprehend Lady Nagant's teleportation ability. 'This is cheating!' he grumbled inwardly. But as his thoughts settled, his mind began concocting various plausible scenarios for this unknown teleportation quirk.

'Maybe it's just a difference from the anime, something I didn't anticipate,' he considered. That explanation seemed plausible enough, but his instincts told him there was more to it. The Takehara family's resources were vast, and they had the means to acquire rare abilities. 'Could they have bought the quirk using dubious sources tied to All For One?' he pondered.

However, a more intriguing and likely possibility surfaced in Yuki's mind. 'Doctor Garaki's work on quirk duplication has been groundbreaking. What if my family has its own tech team with similar capabilities?' he mused, his curiosity piqued.

'Caught…' Yuki's thought as Lady Nagant's teleportation prowess got the better of him. In that fleeting moment, he had underestimated her abilities, and she capitalized on his lapse in focus. "Impressive..." he grudgingly admitted, both frustrated and fascinated by the turn of events.

Returning to Shinji, Lady Nagant's presence felt like a silent reminder of his momentary defeat. "Do you accept your loss!" his father declared with a hint of playful triumph in his voice.

Yuki, on the other hand, grappled with conflicting emotions. His stubborn desire for independence clashed with the understanding that he had indeed been outmaneuvered this time. A part of him resented the idea of having a bodyguard. But pride whispered that he shouldn't let his ego get the better of him. In the end, Yuki's sense of honor won over his reluctance.

"Fine," he conceded, his voice laced with annoyance. He knew he could not get rid of her because she could just follow him anyway, so he might as well give in and accept her. At least that would get him some bonus points with his father, or so Yuki thought.
