Chapter 9

The walk to the school didn't take long and soon enough Arthur could see the front gates of Forks Highschool.

Looking at the high schoolers with backpacks on their backs heading inside the school grounds, Arthur felt envy.

He never delved deep into these emotions, always thinking that he should love what he has and not envy others for their things.

However Arthur was still human, he still had times where he would feel jealous of what others had that he didn't.

He however didn't let these emotions control him.

Be it Anger, Envy, or Hate, instead, he used them all as fuel.

Anger at having to live in this shitty world, anger at having to deal with supernaturals who could sever his life in an instant.

Envy of others who did nothing yet lived their lives so much better than he did.

And lastly, Hate, hate at the fact that even in this second lease on life that he got, he still was treated as nothing but trash by those who gave birth to him.

Hate at his birth mother who had abandoned him.

'It doesn't matter, in the end, hard work always pays off. I may be worse off now but I will be much higher than everyone else in the end.' Arthur thought as he felt his motivation to reach even higher in this social organism that humans had created.

People said that money wasn't everything and that people shouldn't be materialistic.

However, the only people who had such thoughts were those who had money, it was only the people with a good roof on their heads and as much food as they needed on their tables.

Heading inside the school and walking through the hallways, Arthur quickly arrived at his first classroom.

Walking inside he saw that he was a bit early and that the entire class was there yet, the teacher was probably still in the teacher's staff room.

'Guess I'll read some more.' Arthur thought as he opened the Chemistry book and read the last topic they had learned during the previous class.

Minutes passed by and soon the teacher came inside, and the lesson started fully.

During his past life, Arthur had never lifted his hand and answered the professor's questions. He had thought that only losers did so and that his so-called friends would judge him as some kind of nerd.

Only to later realize that when he grew up and that when he entered the real world.

Those so called 'friends' would just move on.

He remembered vividly how he had texted, had called them to go out and drink a simple coffee, do anything together and all he had received had been fake yes's.

After a time, they hadn't even answered his texts or calls, some had even straight-up blocked him.

'Everyone else's opinions don't matter, will they be there when I'm in need of money? Will they be there when I have to stay and do extracurricular lessons? No of course they won't be there.' Arthur thought to himself before he released a chuckle causing the other students around him to turn and look at him.

Arthur never showed a real smile or chuckled, he was the so-called handsome mysterious boy at school.

'I'm getting in my feelings today, am I sick?' Arthur thought before his mind wandered back to his previous thoughts once more.

'I don't hate them or judge them though, that's just how life goes. People outgrow the friends who can't keep up with them. It was my fault for basing my entire personality on being the funny guy in class who didn't learn.' Arthur though.

'I was the dumb one'

Hours passed, each class ending and with a short five-minute break in between before the next class started.

After three hours, the bell rang once more.

It was time for a lunch break.

The students got up from their seats as they joyously got together with their friends and classmates and headed to the cafeteria.

Arthur headed there alone, he could have waited for Jacob and the rest, and he did sometimes but today he most certainly wasn't in the mood to play friends with anyone.

Walking through the halls with a book in his hand, Arthur kept reading as he carefully walked past the crowd.

It was a skill he had developed, he was actually quite proud of it.

Being able to read whilst avoiding the incoming traffic of students who were on lunch break.

Arriving at the cafeteria, he quickly headed inside before directly heading to one of the tables and plopping his book down.

Sometimes he would get someone to pay for him or he would steal some change and buy some food at the cafeteria however that was only on rare occasions where he hadn't managed to get any successful hunts for a while.

The school cafeteria only served food for free to those in poverty and considering Arthur wanted to keep this image of the perfect student, he never showed that he was poor.

Even if he did, he wouldn't be able to get the food from the cafeteria, he would instead be ousted as a homeless person and would be taken into government centers for adoption almost immediately.

That was certainly not something he wanted for himself.

Flipping through the book pages, Arthur's concentration allowed him to ignore the loud noises around him.

However, he still noticed when these loud noises coming from the students chattering loudly with each other stopped.

Lifting his head from his book, Arthur already knew the reason even without seeing it.

There at the doors were the Cullen's.

Immediately whispers started all around as the students tried to look at the discreetly.

Failing completely in the process, even Arthur could hear what they were saying, and if he could then the vampires most certainly could as well, and much more clearly than him at that too.

First was Edward Cullen.

Then it was Emmet Cullen.

Rosalie Hale was third.

Jasper Hale was fourth.

And finally through the doors and into the classroom came the last Cullen.

Alice Cullen.

Who looked to be heading directly towards Arthur.

*Sigh*

'What does she want now?'
