Chapter 54

  Lilo was dumbstruck by the question Ruth and her nosey daughter Anabelle asked, she just didn't think before saying anything earlier. The entire family including Ruben stared at her waiting for an answer. "Ruth what a wonderful party you have here!" A elegant woman in a purple dress walked in. 

Her red hair was styled beautifully and neatly arranged. She looked like someone in her late forties or early fifties. Ruben siezed the opportunity to take Lilo out of there. He knew what his mother and sister were up to, thank God his aunt Mandy came just in time.

"Come with me, I have something wonderful to show you!" Ruben held Lilo's wrist and took her away and Ruth frowned. She wasn't done with the girl, not when Antonio was involved but her sister had to come now and ruin everything. "Anabelle!" Mandy greeted and the little girl rolled her eyes. She's a rebellious kid not a cute princess even if she was one.

"Wow!" Lilo's exclamation came as a whisper, this was no garden, it was a green house and it was massive and beautiful. An intruder could get missing if they ever come this way. They walked into the green house with Ruben holding her wrist. "You know when I was a kid, I and and my elder brother Jude love to play in this garden with our dog charlie!" He started.

"Where's Jude?" She asked. "He must be in another country, handling the family's business now!" He chuckled. "Isn't it crazy I have a business tycoons as a brother, and then I'm a model?" He met her gaze, her blue eyes shown under the bright light, which stirred something up in him.

"There's nothing wierd in being a model, besides you're comfortable and happy doing that!" She smiled. "You're right, when I was a kid, I used to talk about running my dad's business and Jude didn't decide what he wanted then!" Ruben paused.

"What made you change? She asked. "I just stopped loving it cause of it's dirty ways. To get to the top, you have to play dirty!" He took her further in and they got to a wooden bench, that had a long dim light just above it.

"Is that why your family don't really like you?" Lilo wasn't dumb not to notice, they all frowned the moment he walked in like he was not invited to their family. "My mum said I'm not man enough cause I couldn't handle our businesses like my brother!" He tched.

"That's not a crime everyone has their purpose in life. Maybe yours is not business, but at least you're an A least model!" She started. "I hate businesses too, that's why my father asked me to get married to Antonio, so his hard work won't be in vain!" She added.

"Is that why you ran away from your wedding? I wonder why your parents would force you on Antonio, that demon!" Said Ruben. "And why's that?" Lilo found the conversation about Antonio quite interesting. "His ex, the only woman he loved was my cousin, but she died with his unborn child!"
