The Big Picture

When everything was decided, suddenly a growling sound came from many cages. Karmal was also feeling hungry and asked Shank if the feeding time was over. Shank let out a sigh (😔) and said " Hey kid, you remember the human kid that used to come and feed us and show us the little bit of love that we have now right? " Karmal remembered the gentle and warm feeling he had and replied "Yeaaaa.... 😌". Shank with a sad and shivering voice that seemed to be from and furious and yet helpless person" That kid didn't come to feed us from the day you were taken away and we heard a loud cry from a kid just a few hours before you were brought back" shank gritted his teeth and continued " I think it's the guard bastard that always treats the kid badly, we think he did something and I don't think we can see the kid again too(🤬)" When shank was done explaining he sensed a sharp rise in magic flow from the side of Karmal's cage. Even though the cage was made of barrier magic to make them unable to escape and use any magic there will still be a slight flow of magic. But the flow that he is sensing is far more than the slight amount he feels usually. Slowly the air around them felt hard to breathe and there is a poisonous mist spreading in the room.

Karmal was angry beyond hope to the point he could kill anyone that is responsible for hurting the kid. It is the primal instinct of an animal that makes them save or die for their loved ones. Without even noticing he started releasing his magic and absorbing at rapid speed and emitting poisonous and acidic mists. Marjal immediately started shouting to make Karmal snap out of his anger and make him think rationally. Luckily his voice broke through and Karmal was back to his senses. Marjal intending to change the topic immediately called out the shank and asked- " Brother's senior! You just talked as if Brother was away... For how long was he actually away?" Shank gave a serious look towards Marjal's cage and said "(tsk) he was away for almost 2 days"

"What!?" exclaimed Karmal saying " But I thought I was away for only a few hours." Karmal understood that they were trying to change the topic and said

"You guys don't need to try and change the topic. I am not going to do anything reckless but, mark my words! I am going to make sure that bastard suffers for what he did!"

Shank and Marjal were relieved to hear him be confident and in his right mind. They too decided to go out of there without any hesitation. First, they decided to discuss the security and defense systems present in the lab and so Marjal started to explain what they saw when they were being brought in. He said that they had come across 3 main obstacles that are a pressure barrier, an arrow trap, and finally a golem field. Above all this, the lab itself is built using temporal and space magical arts and there are many diverting routes in the lab as if it is a dungeon. After hearing this, Karmal got a doubt and asked Marjal where is the pressure barrier that he told about cause he didn't feel any pressure barrier but he did observe some strange magic runes on the walls. Marjal was in a confused state as he thought that the pressure barrier was quite strong to the point it made him unable to breathe. He was amazed and asked, "Brother, you didn't feel any pressure when we entered the lab through!?". Scratching his head in confusion, Karmal answered"Well, as I said. I didn't feel anything and I only saw some runes on the wall."

"What runes? I didn't see any runes though! " said Marjal. Shank asked Karmal "Hey, Junior!. The runes that you said about.....did you mean to say that you some weird signs on the wall that are able to control or say utilize the essence of maatras or the magic as the humans say?". "Ya! Ya!. That's what am saying!." said Karmal. Shank did a deep thought and said "Hmmm.....Seems like you are special after all kid!. Because the runes you said are something that will only affect the beasts below the superior EVOLVED BEAST stage and it will not affect the humans, Elves of all species, Dwarfs, and beasts that are above EVOLVED Beast stage. But seeing as you are also not affected by the field and was also able to see and sense the runes, you might be having some specialty in either your blood or in your soul that allowed you to do so". Hearing this Karmal thought to himself(Well,I am a human in my past life and my soul got to this world after all so it may be because of that I was able to see them and also not affected by the field. By the way, he just mentioned Elves and Dwarfs right!!! HEHEHEHEHE.... so this is really a world that is similar to the Fantasy works that I read in my previous life. SO COOL~~!) After thinking to himself he asked "What are these Evolved beasts you mentioned now? " Marjal answered his question even though it was directed towards Shank saying "Evolved beasts and the beast that reached the final stage of their evolution. It is said that after a beast crossed that stage it will be able to change its form as it wishes to at least once a month. Wonder if it really is true..well, even after crossing that stage their overall body mass stays constant they can only change the shape but not the mass instead they should fill the required mass with the magic essence present in the air." After he is done with his explanation, Karmal was in a daze with an amazed look on his face. But there was someone who is very angry and is giving off some serious amounts of killing intent. It was Shank because Marjal intervened in the talk between Shank and Karmal, Shank was furious and in that rage, he attained a breakthrough and reached the initial Dominant stage.
