"We couldn't get the membership to the Cosmopolitan because of you," Angelo spat through gritted teeth. If it weren't for his son being held at gunpoint, he would have thrown himself at Morpheus and fought him to the death.
Morpheus lowered his head, his bangs covering his eyes. "I see…. It was my own reckless behavior that day at the Cosmopolitan that made you wanna kill me, huh?"
Angelo remained silent. He looked at his son, who was still looking at Martha's corpse with disbelief etched all over his face. When Angelo saw that, he felt like someone had viciously twisted his heart and ripped it out of his chest.
No child should ever have to witness their parent killed in front of them. But more than that…. No parent should ever have to witness their child killed in front of them. And that was what Angelo feared the most.
