Lyra met those familiar eyes and sobbed in his embrace.
Brian looked down to the lady crying in his arms and held her tightly he didn't know why she was crying but she definitely needed comfort now.
So he lead her out of the restaurant ignoring the glances and business deal he had in there right now.
He guided her into his car and instructed the driver to take them away from there.
Brian didn't stop her from crying her heart out but he did offer her a napkin which she accepted.
When she was done she faced him "what kind of a person are you? don't you have a girlfriend?" Lyra asked making Brian's brow creased.
He didn't know where this was going but at least she wasn't crying anymore."what do you mean?" Brian asked confused by her questions.
"I was crying my eyes out and what did you do? Nothing, you couldn't even console me instead you offered me a napkin to keep on crying" lyra said making Brian raise a brow.
"Hey don't give me that attitude, you should be grateful to me for saving you in there" Brian stated, he couldn't believe this girl.
"Grateful to you my butt" lyra scoffed before relaxing on the comfy seat, she had no idea where they were heading to but she didn't care as far as she is not thinking about Cole.
After a few minute of silence, Brian watched her side profile for a while.
"I'm not your girlfriend" she spoke suddenly making Brian chuckle.
He knew something was wrong with her, she was angry at something he couldn't pinpoint.
"Tell me what's bothering you, maybe I could be of help" Brian suggested.
Lyra stared into his eyes to find any sarcasm but she found sincerity in them.
'what are you doing lyra, don't stare into his eyes you fool' she mentally scolded herself.
He heard her sigh."my boyfriend and I broke up last night" she started.
"That's the reason you were drunk last night" he commented for lyra to nod.
"I saw him at the clubhouse with another lady in a compromising state" lyra added.
"Is that why you are so down?" Brian asked, even if he didn't know her well he was sure that she is one who would never cry over a guy.
"But he fired from his company today, that was the only source of our income" she added.
Brian thought for a while before he ordered his driver to stop at an eatery.
Lyra made sure to fix herself before coming out of the car, she was closely followed by Brian.
Immediately she stepped into the eatery, she spotted her ex boyfriend with the same lady from last night in there.
She turned to leave but was stopped by Brian. "Where are you off to" he asked since she claimed to be famished.
"Cole is in there, I don't want to go in there" lyra said in a low tone.
Brian placed his hands on her shoulder before guiding her in.
" If you leave now, he might think you haven't moved on yet, so act like you don't care and show him no importance" Brian said and drew out a seat for her and guided her to sit.
They were currently seated opposite Cole.
Cole smirked seeing her walk in dejected but became upset seeing her with another guy.
Lyra looked at Brian. "Why do you always come to my rescue" lyra suddenly asked.
"That's just what we call coincidence"Brian mumbled.
Lyra's eyes met Cole's and she could see clear anger in them.
A waiter approached their table to take their orders and left after taking them.
When there meals arrived Brian did what most boyfriend would do, he helped her blow her meals and fed her when necessary that it provoked Cole so much.
Cole got up and left the restaurant leaving his girlfriend behind.
Lyra gazed at Brian "thanks a lot" lyra smiled.
She suddenly remembered Racheal and checked the time, it was past two in the afternoon.
"I'm sorry but I have to go now, thanks for the meal" she got up and picked her purse.
"I'll drop you off" Brian stood up and accompanied her out.
His car pulled over in front of their building, he watched her get off the car.
Lyra smiled at him before turning going in.
As if remembering something he called out to her"hey I never got your name"
Lyra turned back to him "lyra" she said.
"Brian".
Racheal fondled with the address that old man gave to her, she didn't know why but she felt a strange connection to him.
She noticed how shocked he was to see her and now he invited her over to his house for lunch tomorrow.
It's not like she isn't free but tomorrow was a Saturday, she always spend her Saturdays indoors because her parents died on a Saturday.
So she dedicated Saturdays to mourn their death.
She closed her eyes tightly when the thought of her dying soon popped into her mind.
At least she would reunite with her parents once more.
Her eyes opened when she heard a knock, she hurried to the door and opened it, she was quite surprised to see lyra back so early.
"Lyra? I thought you close by four it's just few minutes to three" Racheal asked as she checked the clock.
Lyra turned to her friend "Cole fired me" she replied calmly drinking water from a bottle.
The word 'fired' echoed in Racheal's ears, this was what she was scared of and now it came true.
"Why would he do that? this isn't fair at all" Racheal replied grumpily.
Lyra saw her friend getting worked up and embraced her."don't worry about that I will find a new work" lyra comforted her like an elder sister....
