Evolution

On a beach, a young boy was swimming inside the water, he looked to be ten or so.

"Leo don't go to far." A woman who was sitting on the sand shouted out to the kid.

"Don't worry mom." The boy shouted back.

The young Leo kept splashing in the water without a care in the world. When his head came out of the water he saw a black tentacle in front of him. The woman on the beach saw the tentacle, she shot of the ground, running towards the water.

"Leo get out now." The woman screamed as she got into the water. The tentacle shot for Leo, but before it could reach him, a bluish like shield intercepted the tentacle. The woman had used her awakened ability. She got to Leo, and pushed him out of the water.

"Go get help." She said while facing the Terror.

Leo ran through the whole beach as fast as his legs could, asking for help from anyone, but anyone who listened to him immediately began running, no one wanted to risk their life against a terror.

When Leo found no one to help, he ran back to the place, only to see his mother being carried into the mouth of the terror. When the terror ate the woman, it went back underwater.

On that beach, Leo made a vow to destroy anything that would touch anyone dear to him. A foolish promise indeed, but Leo never forgot it. That promise was the reason Leo always found a way to pull Josh out of trouble whenever he fell into one, which was often, and the promise was the reason his body had subconsciously moved on the day Sarah almost got eaten. Though he did not awaken like his mother, but he did all he could to protect those he cared for, but now that he had the system, he can destroy those things that want to hurt those dear to him, starting with Luke.

Leo stood in front of the bathroom mirror.

'Why did you never join an academy to train your abilities mum?' Leo thought to himself.

Leo stepped out of the bathroom.

"Okay, time to hit level ten."

Leo began his daily task, and an hour later.

"Wait what?" that was all Leo could say before passing out.

Two hours later.

"Damn, you should at least warn me first." Leo complained as he got up from the ground.

Leo looked at the list of notifications, he could barely wait to check them out, but before that, he decided to ask.

"System how come I have not been able to upgrade my skills until now, I have been using them constantly?"

[Host has been using them in a virtual world, as such, system does not count it as usage.]

"So the only thing I can gain from the pods is exp, well since the all leveled up, it's still a win.

Leo decided it was best to let the 4 stat points stay for now, seeing he had gained an increase if two across-the-board.

"Let's check out the new skills and I got, before checking out the shop."

[Phantom clone (level 1)]: A demon should be known for his deceptive abilities. Phantom steps creates ethereal clones of host, to confuse the enemy. Current clone count: three. Consumes 10 DP per minute.

"This is technique is simply awesome." Leo could not hide his excitement when he saw this technique. He quickly calmed down, he wanted to see the remaining skills he got.

[Drain (level 1)]: A demon feeds of his enemies, to get stronger. Drain absorbs the life force of a being and converts it to Exp, consumes 1DP per minute. Current drain 25 exp per second, Number of targets allowed: 2, effective range: 10 meters.

Leo could already feel how much he would grow with this ability in hand, it had a very low DP consumption rate, so he could run it for long periods.

[Fear eater ( no-upgrade)]: PASSIVE. A demon consumes the fear of those around him. Convert fear to Exp. Fear absorbed is relative to the amount arround host. No DP consumed. Effective range 100 meters, increases with host's level.

"Isn't this too OP? This means if I walk into one of those hunted houses at festivals, my exp would just keep rising." Leo could almost taste the exp already.

Finally the last thing to check out, the one he waited for so long to get, the shop.

Leo opened the shop, they were menus for different things, pricing settings and a materials swap platform. Leo looked through the shop, he saw a lot of things, ranging from weapons to techniques and even battle suits, most if the where far of his budget. Leo was about to leave the shop, when he saw an item that didn't have a price tag.

Though it did not have a tag, leo could not access it.

"System can you give me details on this item."

[Host clearance is not high enough]

From the answer alone, Leo could ascertain that this item was special, but he couldn't access it so he left the shop. He did not want to purchase anything yet, he wanted to get information from Grey concerning the mid-term test, so he could use the shop effectively to get back at Luke. Yes he was going to splurge all his SP to ruin Luke.

Leo decided to look at his stats to see how much it had changed.
