"Really Asher?" James says

"Fine whatever," James says

"I really don't understand what you find so intriguing about two guys sleeping in a stable," James says

"You both are human right?" the girl says

"Yeah, why do you ask?" James says

"Well most humans don't really like us, so it's surprising to see two of them sleeping in one of our stables," the girl says

"I suppose it would be," James says

"What's your name anyway kid?" James says

"I don't have one," the girl says

"You don't!?" James says

(I wonder if that's a cultural thing?) James thinks

"Yeah it's pretty normal for that to happen," the girl says

"You have to earn your name," the girl says

"I see," James says

"Well my name is James," James says

"Ja...me...s," the girl says

"That's a weird name," the girl says

"Actually it's a fairly common one," James says

"Anyway, how old are you kids?" James says

"I'm 6," she says

"What's your 6?" James says

"Then shouldn't you be at home doing chores or something?" James says

"OH HECK I FORGET!!!" the girl says

"Mr you gotta help me!" the girl says

"With what exactly," James says

"With my chores of course!" the girl says

"Umm sure why not," James says

"I've got nothing better to do," James says

"You're the best Ja...mes," the girl says

"It's James," James says

"Jame...s," the girl says

"I'm sure you'll get it eventually," James says

Sometime later

James walks alongside the beast-kin girl with two buckets of water in each of their hands.

"What are you using the water for," James says

"Cooking, cleaning, baths, and farming," the girl says

"Why don't you dig a trail to lead the water to the crops?" James says

"It doesn't work like that," the girl says

"It kinda does actually it's called irrigation," James says

"Wait, why I'm I trying to explain this to a kid?" James says

A group of beast-kin stands in the path before the two.

"Hey what's a human doing here?" one of them says

"Probably visiting his kid," another says

James looks at the Beast-kin girl next to him.

"Nope she's not my child," James says

"Though I don't see why it's any of your business," James says

"A human in a Beast-kin village is everyone's business," one of them says

"It's just like a human to expect to be treated like a king in a Beast-kin village," another says

"What the hell are you talking about?" James says

"Maybe we should teach him some manners," one of them says

(I know where this is going) James thinks

James puts both of the bucks of water on the ground.

"This is so ridiculous," James says

(I only know like one combat spell, and I can't even use that) James thinks

"We'll give you the first hit," one of them says

"It's not gonna help," another says

(Damn my luck) James thinks

James not knowing anything about how to fight is feeling pretty uneasy about this event.

James throws a right hook at one of the Beast-kin men.

"Is that all you got?" he says

James is punched in the gut and knocked to the ground.

"That's not very nice," James says

The group kicks him while he's down and soon James passes out.
