CHAPTER 2

The sun rays fell on a girl who looked to be about fifteen or sixteen years. Her black silk-like hair fell over her fair skin covering her face.

Wendy Xie groaned as she opened her eyes to a setting she couldn't be more familiar with.

It was sher old home. The place where she lived with her mother before her father took her away. Before her mother passed on.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Although the girl she saw looked full of life with her flushed cheeks and bright black eyes.

Her bird nest hair fell on her shoulders and she was covered in sweat. She glanced at the calendar she had placed by her mirror and was stunned when she saw the date.

It was 4th July of the year XXXX. It was the exact date she was separated from her mother for life.

She remembered clearly that the last time she saw her mother, in spite of her mother's cries for her to stay, she walked into her father's arms without taking a second look at her.

Wendy knew very well the trouble that would soon face her mother at exactly 8pm sharp that evening. As she was not strong enough, she knew that she could not stay with her mother but she also wanted to stay away from those people who had hurt her.

Her ultimate plan for this life was to keep her mother company and stay away from the scumbag couple and family.

Biting her lower lip, she knew she had to think of a way to leave the house with her mother. Then her phone rang, it was an old friend of hers, Shen Rou who invited her to a show that her family had invested in.

Shen Rou was from an influencial family. Her family could have been considered to be a super rich family and although they didn't interact with each other much they both had a good impression of each other.

Wendy also realised that in her previous life she hadn't interacted with Shen Rou much. So she picked an outfit for herself and rushed to her mom, coyly trying to convince her to go her for the show. After what seemed like forever her mother reluctantly accepted to go with her.

'Let's see how you'll find our whereabouts' she thought to herself.

Wendy and her mom wandered about the streets for more than an hour as they knew the show was not starting for another hour.
