Episode 29: Flycatcher

Leon's group finishes off the last of the gym trainers before confronting Erika herself.

Erika: Welcome to Celadon City's gym. This gym is the 4th one so I assume you understand how this works so let's begin. Tangela, go.

First up is Una, versus Erika's Tangela. Una uses Poison Sting to put the vine Pokemon on a timer. It tries to retaliate with Giga Drain and regain some of the health it lost but Una simply moves to the side and attacks it, knocking out the first Pokemon.

Una: Otto, your turn.

Otto: Okay!

Otto against a Parasect. Though she originally thought a battle between a Flying type and a Grass-Bug type but soons the tables turn as Otto is put to sleep by Spore. The Parasect can't do much damage but it starts to build up as she doesn't wake up and soon faints. Leon comes out and knocks out the Parasect with one Fire Punch.

Leon: Good, but not good enough. Send out your strongest!

Erika: Oh, you sure are excited, if you get through my next Pokemon, then you can go against my ace. I do warn you though. Victreebel's a bit, violent.

She sends out Victreebel, and even though the repeated Leaf Tornadoes and Vine Whips starts chipping away at Leon. He keeps his distance, unable to get close and use Fire Punch, forcing him to use the weaker Ember but still can't land any good hits.

Erika: Hm, I don't want to hurt my challengers too badly but, Victreebel, Poison Jab.

It charges at Leon its hand coated in poison. Fortunately, this gave Leon the perfect opportunity to dodge the attack and land a strong Fire Punch on it.

Erika: My my, you really are skilled! Then looks like you can handle my final attack. Victreebel, Sweet Scent!

The pheromones from the move disorents Leon, giving the Pokemon the perfect opportunity to put Leon in its mouth and try to knock it out.

Erika: I didn't want to do this but seeing as your so skilled, I can't hold back.

He tries to squirm his way out but the poison in it's mouth is slowly subduing him. Eventually, the squirming stops.

Erika: Well, looks like he won't get to fight my final Pokemon, what a sham-

Just then, Leon blast out of the mouth of the beast, with a raging Fire Punch, knocking it out. Even though he won, he's not standing for longer and falls on the ground.
