(8) Dealing with the Oni-Masked Crew!

[Marines POV]

A den den mushi went off in an all white room, the room had a blue logo on the wall; of course it was the logo of the marines.

A marine of the rank of Officer answered the call.

"77th Marine Branch, of the East Blue. What's the pro-" The marine officer was interupted by an older mans voice.

"Pirates are attacking our village, we can only hold them off for a short amount of time." The older man said his voice being rushed.

The marine officer was dazed by this and he quickly spoke.

"Pirates! How many, and what is the name of your village?" The marine officer asked hurriedly.

"The name of our village is Shimotsuki village, since we've lasted this long with barely any people defending, I'll estimate that there's roughly ten to twenty pirates." The older man said.

"Okay! We'll send Marines to help your village, please last until they get there!" The marine officer said, with compassion in his voice; it seemed he really cared for the people of Shimotsuki village.

[Avery POV]

"Too...many...damn...PIRATES!" I yelled out in anger, as I dealt with one pirate another came and replaced him!

It's like never ending! As I took down another pirate, I heard someone yell my name.

"Avery!" Mr. Koushirou shouted, garnering the attention of everyone fighting.

"The marines are on the way!" He shouted, causing the pirates to groan.

"Damn! It's always the marines ruining our fun!" One of the many pirates shouted.

"Okay! Thanks Mr. Koushirou but we kind of need some help down here." I shouted.

"On my way!"

With the help of the sword master—Mr. Koushirou, we were able to get rid of the so called "Oni-Masked pirates" rather quickly.

Of course we used the marines a bit which I feel ashamed about.

A pirate being helped by the marines Ridiculous! I mean I may not be one yet but I still identify myself as a future pirate captain.

Well, looking back Roger did it as well. As he needed the help of Garp to take down Rocks D. Xebec, but that's a different story!

They faced one of the most powerful pirates of that time, so there partnership was reasonable. But me, I was facing a no-name crew! Hell they weren't even mentioned in the main storyline once!

I stopped my little mental debate, and was met with notifications from the system.

[URGENT QUEST COMPLETED] [Obtained: Pirate Hunter (Title), four hundred thousand berries, and a Grand New World Box!]

Pirate hunter?! Who do I look, Zoro 2.0?! This damned system had been getting a little too bold lately.

"Phew" I sighed in relief.

"You alright Avery?" Aoki asked as she walked over towards me.

"Oh, yeah I'm fine. Just tired" I responded casually.

"That's reasonable as you fought all of those pirates, by the way you looked really cool fighting them." She said, giving me a thumbs up and a bright smile.

"Really? I thought I looked really weird using all those different techniques." I said as I scratched my head.

"Speaking of those techniques, where did you learn all of them? I don't remember you ever meeting anyone capable of teaching you all of those techniques." Aoki asked, a suspicious look on her face.

"Oh that? One day I helped this homeless looking guy, gave him some berries and food. He repaid me by giving me this beat up book and it was filled with all of these techniques, that's why I've been training throughout these four months."

Of course, this was all a blatant lie I didn't really think she'd believe me anyway. But It's not like I could tell her about the system, even with how close we are I wouldn't just reveal I had this gold mine.

After a good fifteen- or twenty-seconds Aoki finally said.

"Hmm, you really lucked out big brother." Aoki said.

Thankfully she didn't pry too hard into it, lying to her just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Anyway I guess it's time to open the Grand New World Box now.

I thought as I opened the system interface and went over to the lottery section, I saw the box in the rewards section and clicked open.

That's not really what I was expecting to get but equally good nonetheless, my memories of the main story were getting a little hazy anyway after absorbing the memories of the previous owner of this body.

I felt a little bad about that too, like did the previous owner die or something and I took over his body?

Way to make me feel even worse, baka system. So where are the memories at wasn't I going to get them? As soon as I thought this a wave of information came crashing inside my mind, hell I thought my brain was going to explode!
