Chapter 60: Saving Private Robin

Luffy heard this and looked up to see Kai, Robin, Franky and CP9 step out of the hole Kai made in the wall and walk onto the balcony. They were all standing across a giant ravine looking down on Luffy who was on a shorter building than them. Luffy looked up and smiled.

Then he said. "Phew. I'm hungry. I need meat."

He then reached into his pockets and pulled out multiple large pieces of meat and ate them whole with the huge bones still in them.

"Ahhh. Much better!!" He shouted out with a large smile on his face.

"ROBIN!! I'M HERE TO RESCUE YOU!!" He called out across the ravine causing Robin to smile with a happy look in her eyes.

Before anyone else could say anything though, Spandam cut in. "Are you insane Straw Hat? Don't you know who I am? I'm the leader of CP9! What kind of idiot would go against me?"

Luffy looked up at him and tilted his head confused. "Uhh? Am I supposed to know you? I've never seen you before."

Spandam's eyebrow twitched. "Yes! I'm the leader of CP9! You stand no chance if you keep fighting! CP9 is invincible!"

Luffy looked confused but before he could answer someone stepped on Blueno. He lit a cigarette and said. "Do you mean these guys? The one our captain already beat?" Sanji walked up to Luffy and stood beside him.

Spandam got pissed again. "That was only one member! And he was one of the weakest!"

Someone else showed up. "You don't look much stronger than him though? Could you have gotten your position from nepotism? Maybe I could get some money if I kidnap you then!" Nami said with a smile on her face that didn't reach her eyes.

Spandam choked on his words. "W-What? No! I earned this position myself!"

Another person climbed out of a hole in the roof and started gasping for breath. After a few seconds he said. "I know a lie when I hear one! And that is definitely a lie!" Usopp said as he walked with Nami to join the line.

Spandam's eyebrow twitched. "Shut up! This woman is a monster! She is a devil who wants to destroy the world! She has no place among humans!"

Someone else appeared on the roof through the same hole. "I don't want to hear anything like that again! Just like me, Robin isn't a monster! WE BOTH DESERVE TO LIVE THE WAY WE WANT WITHOUT BEING CALLED MONSTERS!!" Chopper roared out as he lined up next to Usopp.

Everyone stood still for a moment. Then all the Straw Hats looked around for something. Spandam was confused. "What are they waiting for? Are they doing something?"

Kai waited a moment before he smiled and said "That."

Suddenly something came flying through the air and landed on the roof. It got up revealing that it was a person.

"You damn giants! I wasn't lost!!" He turned around and saw the crew.

"What are you guys doing here? We're in the wrong place. The tower of Justice is over there." He pointed towards the east wing.

The crew all shouted. ""WE'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!""

Zoro looked around and saw the CP9 agents and Robin across the ravine and went. "Oh." He joined the line with his swords in hand.

The six Straw Hats were lined up side by side looking up at Robin. Luffy looked serious with no smile on his face. "ROBIN!! WE'RE ALL HERE TO RESCUE YOU!!" He yelled out across the ravine.

"WAHAHAHA!! You stupid pirates!! Don't you realize that no matter what you do nothing will ever change! We have the full strength of CP9, the gates of justice that are impossible for a human to open, and I have access to this buster call!!!" Spandam screamed.

Robin flinched slightly when she heard Spandam say buster call. Even thought she had the real den den mushi with her, it wasn't like her past experiences disappeared and she forgot about her trauma.

Spandam saw her small reaction and looked at her. "That's right!! The same buster call that destroyed your hometown 20 years ago!! The one that caused the word Ohara to disappear from all maps and become history!!"

Both of the buildings that everyone was standing on started shaking and an immense pressure washed over them. Kai's eyes glowed but he said and did nothing. No one present knew what was going on and just thought that the buildings were unsteady from the fighting. They didn't know anything about the waves of mysterious pressure washing over them.

Spandam looked around scared when he felt that pressure again but when he saw Kai doing nothing and staring out at the Straw Hats he sighed in relief and went back to what he was doing. He raised his finger and allowed it to hover over the golden button. "Stop! Don't do that!"

Spandam laughed. "Wahaha! I like that response! Maybe I should pressed the button anyway!"

Robin was really pissed at this idiotic asshole. "You don't understand what will happen if you press it!"

"Of course I do! The chances of those pirates getting off of this island becomes zero!" He shouted.

Robin screamed at him. "No! You said Ohara disappeared from the map? Not only did it disappear from the map but everyone on the island also disappeared! I was the only survivor! Buster calls don't separate between friend and foe! They kill everything that is on the island! If you press the button, not only will we die! You will die too!!"

Spandam got mad. "DON'T GET CHEEKY WITH ME!!"

He raised his fist to hit Robin only for the pressure around him to multiply exponentially. Throwing him to the ground, hard, as he could no longer stand it. The ground underneath him cracked. It looked like someone had increased the gravity only around him.

Robin took this chance to tell the crew. "My past still haunts me! It will never stop! The more I wish to be with you all who have become my nakama, the more my fate will bear its fangs at you! No matter where I go I will have an enemy following me. Because my enemy is the world itself! I don't want to place that kind of burden on all of you!! I would rather die than be betrayed by the people who have shown me such kindness!! I don't want to lose everything I have once again!"

The crew listened intently to Robin's feelings and her burden. They all had the same thoughts in their hearts. Just then Spandam got off the ground and shouted as he pointed at a world government flag. "That's right! Don't you realize? That is her enemy. The world government is made up of over 170 different countries and rules the world!! No one would ever want a burden like that on their ship! She is useless to you! She is a devil who can destroy the world! Her existence itself is a sin! She doesn't deserve to live with people like us!!"

The two towers started to shake even more violently but Kai still showed no reaction on his face or with his body. The entire crew started to get really angry and they all glared at Spandam with a deep hatred.

Luffy looked up at Spandam, meeting his eyes directly.

"No, I perfectly understand who Robin's enemy is. Sogeking, shoot down that flag."

Usopp nodded. "Roger!" He said as he pulled back his new slingshot kabuto and released a firebird star at the flag.

As soon as the flag was hit it burst into flames and its ashes scattered into the wind.

"Tell us what you want Robin!!" Luffy yelled across the ravine.

Robin took a deep breath with tears pooling in her eyes threatening to spill out. "I WANNA LIVE!! I WANT YOU TO TAKE ME OUT TO SEA AGAIN!!" She screamed as she declared to the entire world her own desires.

The moment she called out the two buildings stopped trembling and the pressure disappeared. A huge smile formed on Kai's face under his mask as he looked across the ravine at the Straw Hats.

Every single one of the Straw Hats had a huge smile on their face as Robin's words reached their ears. Just then the drawbridge under them started to lower, ready to connect the two sides on either side of the ravine.

Luffy punched his palm with a huge smile on his face.

"HERE WE GO!!" Everyone on the Straw Hats nodded and waited for the drawbridge to lower.

They all looked at each other before yelling at the same time.

"""""ROBIN, WE'RE GOING TO RESCUE YOU!!!!"""""

Hearing this Kai beamed in joy and Lucci's face twisted into a devilish grin of anticipation.

Franky saw how everything was playing out and made a decision. "Hey Spandex! Look what I have right here." He pulled out a piece of paper.

"THE BLUEPRINTS FOR PLUTON!!" Spandam yelled as he saw the paper in Franky's hand.

Franky smiled and tossed the paper in the air before blowing fire out of his mouth and setting them ablaze.

"I'm making a wager! I bet on the Straw Hats to win this fight!!" He yelled as he saw Spandams eyes contract in fear and shock.

"You bastard! What did you just do?!" Spandam yelled out causing Franky to smile.

"These blueprints never should have existed! They are too dangerous to exist in this world! I'm doing the world a favour!"

Spandam ran at him in a rage and pushed him off of the ledge. Franky fell down the tower towards the ravine, only to land on the lowered drawbridge and get up without a scratch on him.

The drawbridge was never stopped from lowering due to the fact that Kai had ended up knocking out everyone in both buildings with his haoshoku haki. Luffy saw this and leaped off the building towards the drawbridge while grabbing the crew. They all cursed him as they fell towards the ground.

When Spandam noticed what had happened he yelled. "All of you! Defeat the Straw Hats! Nico Robin and Lucci! You two are coming with me!"

He went to grab Robin only to hit something in the way. Kai was standing next to Robin and offering her a hand to step down from the ledge she was on. She giggled lightly at the scene of Kai helping her and Spandam startled as to how Kai got in front of him so fast.

Once Kai had helped Robin down from the ledge he turned to Spandam and said. "I'll come with you."

Spandam tried to say 'no' but even when his mouth moved no sound came out as Kai had made a sound barrier.

Kai waited for a moment before he just nodded. "I guess I'll take that as a yes. Thanks Spandex!" He said as he patted Spandam on the back like he was an old friend.

Robin leaned in and whispered in Kai's ear seductively. "That will be useful for later." Kai froze and his legs nearly buckled before he cleared his throat. *ahem*

Kai started thinking. 'Maybe I should just kidnap her right now and find a private room?' He started seriously pondering if that was a good idea before he felt a nervous gaze on him. He looked back to see Robin looking at him with nervous eyes. 'Cute' he thought before he realized he still hadn't replied to her. He smiled to himself as he was glad he wasn't the only one who was still nervous.

Kai leaned in and whispered back with a mischievous tone to his voice. "It's going to be very useful." He winked at Robin before turning back around. Robin's footsteps froze for a moment as her heart skipped a beat, before she smiled to herself and kept walking with Kai accompanied by a slight blush on her cheeks.
