(Well since you wished for the one-piece world to be more interesting, a lot of things have changed especially the marine ranks, the number of powerhouses, and the number of pirates. From the marine rank from Captain going on, you have tiers. The Captain rank has 3 tiers that show their power level, the final tier of a captain is like a smoker in canon's power level. The same goes for commodore till Rear Admiral. After Rear Admiral, you get Marine Vice Admirals who have 5 tiers. The final tier has the power level of Garp who has the power of a Fleet Admiral.)
(The Fourth Tier of a Vice Admiral has the power level of an Admiral, and the third has the power level of someone like Doflamingo, Gild Tesoro e.t.c, there are also many powerful Marines and more marines.)
(Then you have the Admirals there is no tier 1 for an admiral but only a tier 2 or a tier 3, a tier 1 admiral would be considered as an Admiral Candidate, then you have the Fleet Admiral rank which has no tiers. There can only be two people holding the fleet admiral ranks, then the final rank of the marines is the Grand Admiral....only the strongest or second strongest marine can hold this rank, they are also known as the Symbol of Peace.)
