Chapter 89:- Maki's Choice

After a few minutes of contemplating, she sighed and looked at Izuku while she narrated her story to him. 

Hesitantly, she spoke, her voice a dry rasp from disuse. "I… I'm Maki Zenin. No, My name is only Maki. My Quirk is called the Cursed Eye. It shows people their worst nightmares."

To summarise it all, she had awakened a quirk that turned her left eye into what it is now, her quirk made it so that anyone who looked at her left eye would fall into an illusion that would showcase their worst nightmare not only that she could also sense if someone was lying to her or not. 

This caused her to be isolated by everyone, even when she covered her eyes, people avoided her like she was cursed. But the quirk affected her as well considering her eyes would ache or even bleed when her quirk is used. 

Despite that, growing up she had to go through verbal abuse and even physical beating from time to time, even her parents denied her as their daughter. Yesterday, she was being bullied like always and she finally snapped and pulled her bandage, putting her bullies in an illusion as they screamed and begged for it to stop. This however caused her to be kicked out of the clan and that too a few days after her 14th birthday which was never celebrated ever since her quirk awakened. And since she didn't have a place to live, she came here to shelter herself from the snowfall. 

Izuku sighed hearing her story, while he was abandoned because of being quirkless, Maki was abandoned for being born with a quirk that was strong enough that she became feared by her 'family'. 

Izuku couldn't help but laugh at the situation, seeing him laughing offended Maki as she glared at him and shouted "What's so funny huh?" 

"Our Life dear… you know just like you, I was abandoned by my family when I was 4 I was completely forgotten by them, totally neglected by my family, bullied by my friends and classmates, to the point I decided to commit suicide" Izuku said 

Maki remained silent for a while, seeing no lies in his words, she sighed and questioned "Are you a ghost?" asked Maki.

"And what makes you think that I am a ghost?" asked Izuku.

"You said you decided to commit suicide, so I thought you were a ghost," said Maki.

"Ohhh, sorry about that, when I was about to get impaled, I awakened my quirk and that's how here I am," said Izuku

"What do you want from me and what will you make me do?" asked Maki

"You don't have to worry about being treated like some slave or tool, I will not force you to do something you don't want to, I won't give you some crazy reason like saving the world and shit, I have no interest in doing so, heck I am planning to destroy it, I just want to survive in this world and that doesn't want people like us to survive, and so I am going to force my way through them.

So I wish to give you a home, a home where you aren't feared, you aren't abandoned, you aren't hurt, you don't need to think that you shouldn't have born, I wish to turn all the sleepless nights filled with nightmares and cries, into nights filled with love and joy, I wish to give you so much love that all the dark past you have gone through are overwhelmed by love, give you a home, where you are respected, people loving and caring for you and all they want is good for you.

I wish to give you something that you wanted for your whole life, a family, and most importantly I wish to give you revenge, revenge for everything you have suffered, and most importantly I wish to give you revenge against your parents, something that you could only dream of" said Izuku. 

Maki kept silent for a while but then nodded her head and said, "Is it true, can I really have all this, am I really worthy of feeling such things?" asked Maki as tears started rolling down her eyes, as she cried uncontrollably, both Izuku and Kaina stood up, sat on either side of Maki as Izuku hugged Maki, while Kaina hugged Maki from behind, Izuku continued caressing her head as Kaina held Maki's stomach tightly.

Both of them refused to let her go, and so did Maki as she didn't let Izuku's embrace go, using her strength, as much as she could, feeling the warmth and love from Kaina and Izuku, Maki's heart calmed down for the first time since her misery started, soon she fell asleep, Izuku feeling she had slept, he let her go, as he then laid her in the bed, Kaina who had tears in her eyes on listening Maki's plight, and didn't let Maki go even after she had fallen asleep.

"Stay with her, make sure she isn't left alone for even a second, she's going to need it," said Izuku, to which Kaina nodded and slept beside Maki holding her tightly in her embrace.

The next morning Maki woke up to find that she was being held lovingly by Kaina, something she had been deprived of since she was 4.

Feeling the warmth from Kaina she had a smile on her face, as she snuggled deeper into the embrace of Kaina as she went back to sleep.

The morning sun peeked through the curtains, turning the room into a warm golden glow. Maki stretched, a soft smile playing on her lips as the memory of a warm blanket and a full belly danced in her mind. It had been a long time since she woke up without gnawing hunger and the chill of loneliness. Then, she blinked. Empty. The room was empty. Panic clawed at her throat, squeezing out the air. The cozy bed, the gentle whispers of a stranger-friend, the feeling of being safe – all gone, vanished like morning mist. She went hysterical trying to search for her or Izuku.

Tears welled up, blurring the edges of the unfamiliar apartment. Her chest ached, not just from emptiness, but from the warmth of what she'd briefly glimpsed. It was like someone had dangled a piece of candy, let her suck on the sweetness, then snatched it away before she could swallow.

Just as she was about to stand up, Izuku came from a door beside the bed as he had a coffee cup in his hand.

"Good Morning, What happened-?" Izuku was about to continue but he was cut before he could say anything as Maki started crying, crying like a small child as she held Izuku tightly and she said, "Please don't leave me alone, please please," Said Maki as she started crying loudly. 

Maki when had woken up in the morning was happy but when she woke up again and saw she was all alone, she felt the things she finally had got were taken away from her all of a sudden, all the happiness she had felt in last few hours was taken away from her in an instance, as if it wasn't real, and she didn't want that to happen, she had grown attached to it and she had grown possessive of this feeling not wanting to lose this again, the child inside her who didn't want to lose this again as a result she held Izuku tightly and not wanting to let him go, what Izuku had promised to give, she had assumed to have already accepted.

Izuku then started caressing her head, as he said, "Don't worry, I won't be leaving you alone, I'll always be with you, never leave you alone for a single moment okay, here drink coffee, I made it for you." Said Izuku, handing her the cup of coffee.

Maki calmed down after a few minutes of crying as she made Izuku sit down and sat on Izuku's lap making sure he didn't leave, she was going to lock his arm with her but then she all of sudden decided to sit on his lap as that way he cannot escape.

She was acting just like a child would, throwing tantrums, showing possessiveness asserting her dominance over him, she had turned into a kid after finally being treated how a child should be, so Izuku decided to treat her like a kid, at least until she calmed down enough to realize that Izuku wouldn't leave her alone.

Once she drank coffee, calmed down, and realized what she had done, her face was flushed, totally red filled with embarrassment as she just turned her head quickly and hid her face in Izuku's chest.

Izuku just held her tightly in his embrace as he whispered in her ear, "I can give you this life where you wake up with me every morning, do you want to live the life I promised to give you?"

Maki just nodded her head as she said, "Unn"

While this was happening somewhere in a closed off room of a secluded house.

"Dammit, why did he have to do that?" shouted someone shrouded in darkness.

As thrashing sounds could be heard, followed by a destroyed room becoming visible in a small light bulb, barely hanging from the ceiling, dangling like a pendulum.

"It's okay, the next one is still going as planned." Said the person calming down and getting back to what he was doing.
