Chapter 9
Faraway in an unknown part of the Galaxy
Swarms of hunched back creatures could be seen loading equipment into ships.
Tall muscular creatures were shooting at targets
As of late this army of aliens have just completed assimilating a newly conquered world
Now with the boosted resources they are rebuilding their army.
One of these aliens was sitting in front of an advanced radio.
Tooning in to many broadcasts, he would listen in and write notes before changing stations.
This creature was in charge of finding the next target for the glory of the empire.
And these radio signals were all operated by scouts observing different solar systems across the universe
One such system was made of 33 planets surrounding a Star. 6 inhabited and the rest were Gas giants.
The scout has observed that the dominant species are a hairless ape.
Knowing that these apes are strong but have a low birth rate, the alien sends out a deployment request along with other fleets to join.

On Asgard
Two Old men stood on a rainbow bridge looking out into space.
The tallest looks to the one-eyed man and speak.
"Odin, are you seeing anything? My sight has become clouded, without my name being invoked I can not observe others freely any longer."
"Heimdall, this is not due to any failure on your part. My sight is also clouded, the last thing I could see before this change is Burst of power that originates from the infinity stones."
"The stones?!" whispered Heimdall in shock.
"Yes, we are into a time of turmoil, I will send envoys to our allies to prepare for unrest, and I will prepare Thor for his Coronation." States Odin.
"What about HER" Heimdall asks
"I will find a way to bind her indefinitely to that realm, we can not allow HER to ally with any of our enemies, especially the Mad Titan that amasses an army to seek the Power of the stones."

A Titan with purple skin could not help but grin looking at the marching armies around him
The Chitori were a beautiful Hive minded race, obeying all orders even if it meant death.
Soon his mission will begin
Soon the universe will be brought to balance
Soon he will ask for the Hand of his love

In a mountain on earth
A group of super powered beings have gathered
A woman of beauty and strength, Wonderwoman
A man clad in red, Flash
A Dark Haired man wearing scales, Aqua man ( I am using the looks of Jason Momoa.)
A Man a mix of Flesh and Steel, Cyborg
A man of amazing feats clads in Blue and red, Superman.
And finally, a brooding bastard clad in the darkest colours, Batman.
"Have you all heard of the attack in New York?" asks batman.
"Yes, I did not know at the time since I was off world. but have you found the culprit?"
"These Cyborgs" at this everyone seemed to glance at the one in their midst who simply frowned at this information.
"As I was saying these Cyborgs seem to have come from Oscorp, most likely under the orders of Hydra." Says Batman
"What was their goal?" asks wonder woman
"The only thing that happened during that attack was a prison raid, many criminals were taken but no one has seen hide nor hair, so I am unsure as to the purpose of that or the attack."
"Hey how about that cool armoured dude and his robots, or those spider people? Do you have info on them." asks flash
"So far, the only one I know of is Spiderman, he is a student going to New York University, studying Mechanical engineering and Bio chemistry. The other two, Ghost spider and Bastion I have no idea."
"Unfortunately, Nightwing seems to have gone rogue and is learning from Bastion, Batgirl so far is training with him, but she is not able to supply me information yet."
"Due to this attack, I would like everyone to stay observant, we don't know when the next attack will be."
"Themyscira has received a message from Asgard, something is clouding the vision of the All seeing and the All father. All of Asgards Allies have been warned to prepare for a possible war."
"Atlantis has received the same message, could this be aliens?" asks Aquaman
"Superman, can you go inquire on other planets, besides that all we can do is prepare, I also suggest that we start taking on proteges to bolster our ranks. I can offer 1 dozen Amazon warriors who will join to protect the realm of man."
"Currently my son has gained powers, I will ready him" says Flash
With that the meeting ends and they all go their separate ways.

With Bastion
Currently Bastion was sitting on the harbour Pierre. The moon was high in the sky.
Soon a figure joined him.
"So Nghtwing I see that you decided to show, I guess Batgirl was not interested?"
"Not tonight, she went home to see her father, maybe another time. Anyway, what's the first thing we will do tonight?"
"First, we will look at your aim. I have rented a gun range; there we will find what suites your style best."
The two then start running along the boardwalk.

After shooting, they found that the best for Nightwing was a Walther P99. He would have one strapped to his right thigh in the future.

When their time at the range was done Bastion then began a lecture on deciding when to use lethal force, and where to shoot people so that they can still live but cause no problems, i.e. the joints.
During this time Nightwing could not help but be impressed. He originally thought that Bastion just killed everything, but finding out that there was a process behind the madness rose his respect for the other man.

Time skip 1 year
A long time has passed since the Cyborg attack on New York.
During this time Charles was not idle
He increased the production of his Battle droids and Emergency droids to the point where he was selling to all of the Police Departments in the Eastern coast states.
His name could now be as influential as Starks.
Though Stark did take a political hit when his friend Obadiah Stane was found selling weapons to terrorists, this was found out after he rebuilt Tonys first Iron suit and tried to kill Tony along with many others.
With Charles having reached out to Tony so early about the Palladium poisoning and protecting the world, this kept him out of SHIELDS hands after discovering the notes to a new element that his Father left. This Element he made and named Badassium.

On another front it seems like Captain America has been found and dethawed. But not much is known about that to Charles.

A hammer has fallen from the sky in Mexico but Thor does not seem to be acting as in the movies, so he is unknown at this time.

Bruce Banner turned into the Hulk in Harlem
Unfortunately, Charles was in space traveling on the UNSC freighter looking for inhabited planets.

Training with Nightwing was extended to include Gwen and Batgirl.
These two seemed to hit it off in costume also, so many nights they Patrol together.
Nightwing surprisingly cut ties with Batman, along with that he quit the Wayne Enterprises.
But Charles should have known this, since the Joker has just killed Jason Todd, and Batman only put Joker back in prison again the 350 time in 3 years.
Nightwing having quit found a job at Woods enterprise, working in the R&D of the Automotive department.
This made Charles wonder if he should show his real Identity to Nightwing.

Present time
Currently Charles is in space.
But not as Charles but as Bastion.
He decided to bring Nightwing with him to test out the new Starhawk class battle ship.
On this ship he had 5 different fleets of Starship fighters
Tie Fighter, improved with better speed and fire rate and equipped with heavy shielding
A mix between a X wing and a F22, armed with 8 naquadah torpedoes.
Vulture Starfighter, including a Hive minded adaptive learning AI that was Layered with limitations for safety purposes.
V-19 torrent, same improvement as the Vulture
Y-wing fighter and bomber, increased torpedoe capacity and stronger guns.
The star ships excluding the V-19 and the Vulture would be piloted by improved B1-P (pilots)

The face on Nightwing seeing the Starships for the first time was hilarious, when we approached the Battleship, he almost had a stroke.
Flying to the next solar system which was uninhabited, I unleashed older ships I have made and the Vulture droids for a demonstrative skirmish.
Seeing them fight was interesting. At first, they were pitiful, but the longer the fight went the better they fought, but they did lose half the squadron in the process.
I did the same thing for the 4 other models, taking notes for improvement on future iterations.
Looking beside me, I could only laugh at Nightwings giddy expression of seeing real spaceships fight.

After approximately 32 hours of skirmishing, I called the tests to an end.
Having the scrap recovery droids drag in all of the ruined ships, I begin the sequence of flying back to earth.
But before I could activate the hyper drive two gigantic battleship appear.
"Holy shit! Are there really Aliens out here? Those are some pretty armed ships, you don't think they are here just to talk, do you?" asked Nightwing.
Bastion acting quickly activated the Communications.
Bastion- this is the Battleship Nighthawk, what are your intentions.
Aliens- Gak Kro magna tin doth.
Bastion and Nightwing look at each other puzzled at the strange language.
Bastion- Please repeat, we did not get that.
Alien- give us your ships or die, SCUM!

At the moment of hearing this the alien ships started to charge the canons.
Bastion immediately Barking orders to the Droids on deck compiled mostly of CHAPPIES, who would learn much of navy battles today.
"Activate shields" "prepare Battle stations!" "Hold on the Starfighters."
"Hey Bastion, we are low on fighters after the testing, should we not call back up?"
Bastion shook his head sadly.
"I have not yet developed a trans solar system communication yet, the mars base will not hear us. The only thing we can do is fight."
"Could we take one of the smaller ships and escape?"
"That will lead these pirate bastards back to earth. They must be destroyed."
Nightwing nods. "Alright what should I do?"
"Follow me, I will get you a cannon to operate."
The two then go to a turret and place Nightwing there alongside a gunner droid for back up.
Bastion then goes back to command
Putting the gas to the pedal Bastion orders full throttle forward in between the two Battleships.
As they pass, all gunners are ordered to fire.
As they pass the two much damage is left in their wake.
Clearing the two ships, Bastion orders a turn to port, behind the enemy, allowing them to attack the behind where there are fewer guns.
In retaliation, the aliens send out swarms of fighters, all are incredibly fast but they do not seem to have any proper shielding.
Bastion then orders the remaining 85 V-19 and Vultures to attack, after these gain the attention of the enemy, Bastion sends out all 35 X-f22 to attack and run.
During this time the Alien ships turned and began returning fire.
Compared to the fighters this alien ship was something else.
Bastion could feel the Ship shake from the impacts, but surprisingly the Shields held only dropping 5%.
Soon an explosion was heard on his own ship.
Calling for an update, the answer was a turret towards the front of the ship was destroyed.
Thankfully this was only a smaller turret and not something bigger.
Suddenly seeing a lull in the enemy fighters, Bastions sent the Y-wing bombers escorted by all remaining fighters. He sent them to one enemy ship.
Many explosions were released
And after support from the Bastions Battle ship one of the Aliens ships was broken in half, sending hundred of creatures floating in space and removing one piece from the board.
With its brother ship destroyed, the last alien ship was made quick work of, fortunately this ship was left mostly whole.

After the battle was done, Bastion and Nightwing convened in the Hangar
Putting on armoured spacesuits, the two get on a shuttle headed for the second destroyed alien ship along side 4 CHAPPIES.

The first thing they all noticed was the corpses, in one hallway there must have been hundreds.
It did take a moment for Bastion to realise what kind of aliens these were.
Covenant. Halo Aliens were here. Its not just DC but others! Life became much more hazardous.
Ordering the Chappies to sweep the hallways, the group started heading for the bridge.
Along the way Bastion saw many pieces of tech he has not bought yet, but now will never need to.

Soon they get to a large sealed door.
A chappie activated an energy sword, and started to slice its ways through.
The rest of the group stood a ways away with shields up, in case of attack.
Fortunately, the moment the door opened the aliens inside were killed from exposure.
Entering the command room, Bastion hooked himself up to the nearest computer and started downloading all available information.
As his arms memory banks absorbed the information, his eye allowed the skimming of information.
He found out that this was a Scout team from the Covenant. Currently they were on transit to hook up to the main fleet in preparation for an invasion of a solar system. Unfortunately, they did not have the system coordinates listed.

"So, anything on those computers?" asks Nightwing.
"It looks like this was a scout patrol heading for a rendezvous with the main fleet in preparation for an invasion on a solar system."
"Based off the sound of your voice, can I assume we have no information as to which solar system this is?"
"No, we do not, and we probably don't have time to go searching."
"Well, what the plan then?"
"Well first off, we will get rid of all evidence of this battle, burn all of the bodies and I will have droids haul all of this material for study." "Also, can you contact Batman and tell him about potential hostile aliens?"
"I can, do you want to team up with him?"
"no I will be making my own team and bolstering my Droids so that we have a defence force ready for moments notice."
"Who is on the team?"
"So far Myself, ghost-spider, Iron Man, and if you will join Nightwing."
"Nice! you love me! I will definitely join your team."
"Alright if we are going to work together to protect Earth, I will trust you to hold an important secret."
Saying this Bastion retracted his helm, displaying Charles Woods underneath.
NightWing was a little surprised but not much, since he kind of expected it especially woods enterprises dealing in advance robots.
In turn NIghtwing removed his mask.
Smiling the two clasp hands in solidarity.

Back on earth
After getting on earth Charles made a bee line for the police station in his Bastion suite.
"Captain Stacey, can I talk to you in private?"
When the two were in George's office, Bastion brought up what happened in space.
"George, I have not told you yet but I have created spaceships. Just a few days ago I took a new Battleship for testing. There I was encountered by Aliens whose first action was to kill us." "I believe that these same aliens will come to attack earth in the near future based off of information left on their computers." He then shared the data about the fleet invading another solar system.
"a proposal I have for you is to start secretly training Officers to be ready to combat these sorts of threats. I have begun designs of a Power suit and A Mecha suit. By training your people I am hoping to make an organization to protect us from invaders as we join the wide Galaxy."
George frowned "I know in the past you did not want to deal with the military due to other shady organizations, but this really should be a task you trust them with."
"I want a force that interacts with the public daily and can respond within minutes, this is not possible with the military they will take 1 hour at the least and most likely more time to be mobilized.
"Alright I will cooperate with you, but I think we should bring some other Captains and Chiefs from other cities into this."
"Very good I can agree to that. Could you select a group of trust worthies and bring them to the harbour ware house 71 in 2 weeks?"
George nodded

Time skip 2 weeks
Waiting for the Police officers and George to arrive, Charles looks at his creations
The Power suit from Space trooper universe
The Power Mech from Avatar.
By using these they would most definitely gain a leg up on both the covenant and the Chitauri when they come.
Of course, there were other techs like the Mjolnir Suit that would be better, but if for some reason something gets leaked to other organizations like Hydra and League of light, these were the easiest for him to combat. It would only be when Earth focused more on space that better tech would be released. But also this was more cost effective for large groups of people.

As George appears what must have been 150 people showed up.
George introduced them as Police captains, chief and Veterans from the military.
"Good day gentlemen, Ladies. I am Bastion, a Vigilante who works with the NYPD. You might know I have exceptional tech. this allows me to build spaceships." "a few days ago, I encountered hostile aliens. I have gathered you here to create an organization to protect our home from that threat."
A random man stands up "why do you want our help? Go to the military and government!"
"As much as I would like to, there are many different organizations on earth that would much rather kill each other, that have a hold in our Military." "I have chosen to use those who can react quickly, the attack on New York last year showed us that we need a strong abled force than can mobilize in minutes compared to hours." "I am offering you to get specialised Technology and training to be prepared for such occasions."
Once saying this Bastion removed the tarps covering the Mecha suit and Powersuit. He then walked off the stage allowing for others to voice their thoughts.

After much arguing, all 150 gathered agreed to help. Many of the older folk planned to focus on intelligence and resources. This left a force of 90 that could be trained.
After a few more debates it was decided that after 6 months of training the current group they would start inducting new members, with each original member acting as the platoon leader of the newbies.
It would be 5 power suits in a squad 3 Mecha suites in their own squad. 4 power suit squads and 1 Mecha suit squad equal 1 platoon.
Getting to the end of the meeting they soon decided to name this new organization
The Sol Network
During this time Bastion also Had some assassin droids checking for Signals broadcasting information.
Getting none, he could only hope there were no spies.

Timeskip 7 months, it is now 2 years since New York Cyborg attack.
During this time much improvement was made
The original members of the SOL network, finished training thus allowing for the recruitment of new members.
Many SOL members took this seriously, for each potential member their records were combed along with all social relations i.e., family, friends and coworkers. SOL did not want any traitor amongst their midst.
SOL now had 500 new members going through the same training along with minor indoctrination to make them vehemently loyal to the Earth and humans. Not so loyal that they cant kill another human but just enough that they would not become turncoats to SOL.

Unfortunately, due to my success, I have had to defend myself against assassins and spies snooping in my workshops trying to steal information.
It never got old seeing a person's eyes widen seeing my arm turn into a cannon before getting their heads blown off.

Taking inspiration from the Hive minded adaptive learning Vulture starfighters, I developed 3 special divisions of CHAPPIES
1 infantry, 1 navy, 1 shock troopers
By implementing the hive minded system, a group of Chappies could immediately learn from the mistakes of another and immediately adapt, compared to the droid itself having to survive to learn.
I ended up creating 4 Skyhawk Battleships. On these I would have a 1 Navy Chappies unit, 3 Infantry, and 2 Shock troopers. Along with these I would have a compliment of Y-wings, X-f22, V-19 and Vultures.
I left the Tie fighter out of these and only placed them on larger Ships that would be in production.

Timeskip
1 year
SOL has expanded to 700,000 loyal members.
Due to the size, I introduced them to space, running training simulations whenever possible, hiding our movements with Cloaking devices on the ships.
During one such training excersize we encountered a Convenant Scouting fleet of 3 Battleships.
The members of SOL and the Hive CHAPPIES operated beautifully.
The Skyhawks barely took damage.
The Covenant ships were quickly hauled to mars for repurposing and the corpses burnt.

Acting on a suggestion from George Stacey,
Charles began moving willing Homeless people who joined SOL to planets in the neighbouring Solar system, this allowed them to gain a new home, but also act as a first line of defence.
Something neat though is that since Charles let the people develop their new home their own way, they went with a communist route, and since there was no Dictator operating it actually worked.
Everyone got the same a mount of resources, if one did well the rest did too.
Charles believed that the reason why this worked was that these people were once homeless, so that probably made people more willing to share to become successful.

Unknown to Charles
On the planet of Bulwark
What were once homeless men and women from Canada and the U.S.A
Now walked Proud Citizens of Bulwark and members of the SOL network.
In a temple in the middle of the city Bast stood a stone statue with the looks of Bastion.
Soon an armoured women walked out in front of the Statue.
"PRAISE BE THE SAVIOUR, THE LEADER OF HUMANITY, THE Man who defends us from the demons of the universe!"
Hearing this all the spectators began to cheer.
The women spoke again "Brothers and sisters! We have been the first brought to salvation by the Lord Saviour Bastion. We have been saved to act as the Bulwark of our ignorant brethren from earth! To honour and serve the lord put your all into your work, and in your training so that when we are called upon to serve, we will be unmoving like the GREAT LORD BASTION!!!!!!!!!" "GO FORTH AND BECOME STRONG!!"
Shouting in fervour the crowds marched to the training yards and began target practicing, throwing themselves at shield walls, back breaking obstacle courses, Starfighters could be seen flying all of which they did in the name of Lord Bastion.

Of course, the happenings of Bulwark were completely unknown to all on Earth, even Bastion.

One day as Charles was pressure washing Clint.
His Satellites in space warned him of an energy spike in Mexico.
Looking through the video recording he sees what looks like 4 warriors armed with swords and axes.
These must be the warriors 3 and Sif.
Calling upon Megatron, he heads to Mexico.

After 10 minutes of supersonic flight, he appeared near the Asgardians.
Getting close he jumps out of Megatron, flying the rest of the way with his suite.
Landing Megatron transform and stops right behind him.
Looking at the warriors from Asgard, he saw Thor was now there along with what must be Dr Foster and her friends.
"Who are you Friend?" shouts Thor.
"I am Bastion the Protector of Earth. What are Asgardians doing here?"
"Bastion? Don't you operate in New York?" asks Jane foster.
"No, I go wherever I am needed."
"We have come to bring Thor Back to his rightful place on Asgard" declares Sif.
"No, I refuse to go back, my brother spoke to me in my dreams and told me due to my error, Father has passed away! I will stay here to atone for my Sins and to not affect my brother's rule" shouts Thor.
"Odins not dead? He is in Odin-sleep. Your brother lied." Says Fandral.
Before anyone else could speak a flash of rainbow light appeared.
When the light disappeared, a giant robot stood.
This was the Destroyer that Odin made centuries ago.

Bastion commanded Megatron to evacuate Jane and her friends before coming back to help.
After these orders were spoken the Destroyer attacked heading for Thor.
Bastion started firing all rockets and canons, seeing that not work he jumped on the back of the robot, and turning on light sabers before slicing down.
This seemed to do very little damage but did cause a dent to form.
The Destroyer the span itself throwing Bastion away being buried under the soil.
Getting out of his hole, Bastion saw Thor approach the Destroyer and beg his brother to stop, offering his own life.
His warrior companions were lying on the ground in pain.
Just as the destroyers fist was coming down, a Storm formed in the sky and with a flash of lightning a Hammer shot into Thors Hand, empowering him enough to halt the Destroyers hand.
Immediately seeing this scene, bastion super charges his canon till the point of melting.
Firing the blast destroys the Destroyers left arm.
Taking this chance Thor punts the robot in the air with his electrified hammer.
With the Destroyer in the air, Megatron swooped down firing dozens of high-powered torpedoes.
Finishing up with a crushing punch the Destroyer of Asgard layed in ruins.

"Thank you, Friends, for coming to aid me. Now Let's head off to stop whatever plans my brother has."
Seeing Thor about to leave, Bastion says "Thor! Aim for the head!"
Right after the Bifrost came down enveloping all 4 Asgardian warriors and the Destroyer remains.
Now all that was left was Megatron and Bastion with a ruined arm.
"Alright Megatron, lets take a cruise back home."
going Back Megatron took his time, completing many stunts and loops even racing a military plane that tried to get us to land.

Once back at home, he was greeted by Gwen who came by for supper.
Seeing his ruined arm she became frantic, checking him for injuries but seeing none let him go get a replacement.
