Chapter Six: Awakening
CHAPTER SIX
AWAKENING
Fog lays in a pool of his own blood on the battlefield
"Is this the end?"
Fog looks into the distance at Metal Silver
Fog thinks back to the future he saw when he first touched Velocity
"Is this the future I saw?"
"Is this really my end."
Fog thinks back to the future he saw. The one of an adult Velocity standing over the body of Superior Metal Sonic
"At least in the long run I ensured my purpose. He will grow up to become a fine man."
Fog's vision starts to go to black
Velocity peaks his head out through the rubble as explosions are heard in the background
Velocity exits the rubble and starts to stumble through the battlefield looking for Fog
VELOCITY
"Where is he?"
15 meters away from Velocity someone opens a manhole cover
Onyx exits the manhole looking around
ONYX
"That damn kid. I told him not to go."
Onyx sighs
ONYX
"This is what I get for looking away from him for just five seconds. Thinking about who he's related to."
Onyx looks in the distance and sees Velocity looking around
Onyx clenches her fist and bolts toward Velocity
Velocity looks around and a second before Onyx gets to him he spots her
Onyx hits Velocity in the head with a loud "CRACK!"
Velocity rubs the area he was hit
VELOCITY
"Owwww!"
Onyx sighs
ONYX
"What did I tell you about running off? It's dangerous out here."
Velocity looks at the ground with a shameful look
VELOCITY
"I know, I just. I'm just worried."
Onyx sighs
Onyx looks into the distance and thinks for a second
Onyx looks back at Velocity
ONYX
"Me too kid."
An explosion is heard fifteen miles away. Causing Velocity to jump
The ground, under a giant piece of a building, collapses. Unveiling another part of the city
Velocity looks in the distance and sees something that turns his face from a look of worry into a horrified look
VELOCITY
"Fog!"
Velocity runs from Onyx as Velocity runs toward Fog's body
Onyx looks in the distance and sees what Velocity is running too
Onyx's eyes become wide
Onyx bolts toward Fog
When Velocity got to Fog, Velocity picked him up and laid his head in his own lap
VELOCITY
"Fog! Fog! Please be alive. Please! Wake up!!"
Onyx looks down at Fog with a surprised look
Onyx clenches her fists
ONYX
"Another one.. Lost to that bastard…."
A fiery look starts to unveil in Onyx's eyes
Fog opens his eyes to look at Velocity and Onyx
Fog tries to talk but only wasted air escapes his body
"Please don't mourn me guys."
Fog closes his eyes
"Don't be sad. I was supposed to die anyways."
Fog thinks back to when he was younger
Younger Fog holds a dying friend in his arms
"The future can't be changed. I've tried so many times to change it."
Fog holds a female anthromorph in his arms with tears flowing down his face
"I'm done. My time is over….."
VELOCITY
"Please Fog, don't die…. Please… I need you.."
Tears start to flow down Velocity's face dropping onto Fog
Fog opens his eyes and looks up at Velocity
A tear flows down Fog's cheek
"Velocity…"
Fog thinks back to when he was younger
Younger Fog and younger Onyx stood over Velocity when he was a baby
ONYX
"What are you going to do with him?"
Fog thinks for a second
Fog looks at his father's old bracelet
Fog takes a deep breath and then breaths out
FOG
"I'll take him in and train him as if he is my own son."
Onyx looks at Fog with a surprised look
ONYX
"Really? Are you sure you can handle this."
Fog smiles and looks at Onyx
FOG
"I'm sure it will all be okay Onyx. Just let me do this."
Onyx looks at the ground and then back up at Fog
ONYX
"Okay, if you say so."
Sometime later Fog holds baby Velocity's hand at a doorway
Velocity looks up at Fog with a mesmerized look
Fog looks back at Onyx with a smile
FOG
"I'll see you later. Just make sure to stay alive, okay?"
Onyx smiles
ONYX
"You too you, you dummy."
Fog and baby Velocity sits around a campfire
Velocity looks at Fog with a mesmerized look
FOG
"Got something to say?'
BABY VELOCITY
"Who are you, mister? We've been traveling for an hour and I don't know your name."
Fog gives a warm smile
Fog looks at Velocity
FOG
"Well, there's a simple answer to that."
Fog looks at his father's old bracelet
Fog walks around the campfire to Velocity
FOG
"I am the person who's going to take care of you."
Velocity looks down at the ground
Velocity mumbles something
FOG
"What's that?"
Velocity looks at Fog
BABY VELOCITY
"Will you ever leave me?"
Velocity looks at the ground
BABY VELOCITY
"I heard you and the lady talking about what to do with me and I'm scared…."
Velocity looks Fog for a second then looks away again
BABY VELOCITY
"I'm just afraid to be alone."
Fog looks at Velocity with a surprised look
Fog places his hand on top of Velocity's head
FOG
"My name is Fog. I promise I will take care of you no matter what. And I'll never leave you."
Velocity looks at Fog with a surprised look
Fog smiles
FOG
"I promise!"
Velocity's grin turns into a wide smile and he jumps at Fog hugging him
BABY VELOCITY
"Then I'll stay with you dad forever and ever!"
Fog holds Velocity as he gives off a warm smile
"Dad, is this how you felt when you left me?"
Fog thinks of his father Silver
Silver looks down at a much younger Fog
Silver takes off his golden bracelet and gives it to Fog
Younger Fog looks at the golden bracelet and then back up at his father
FOG
"Dad, please come back. Please promise me!"
Silver looks down at his son with a smile
Silver places his hand on Fog's head
SILVER
"I promise!"
Silver then stands up and turns around walking toward a doorway
SILVER
"Just make sure to be strong for me son until I get back."
"He never returned. He was killed by Superior Metal Sonic before the world fell."
Younger Fog stands over his father's coffin with an angry look
"That was the moment where I pledged to myself that I would kill the son of a bitch."
Younger Fog looks at his father's golden bracelet and proceeds to put it on
Younger Fog clenches his fist
"So for years, I would try my best to take down that android's empire."
Younger Fog gets knocked to the ground
"I failed so many times after that."
Younger Fog sits on a stretcher, taking place directly after he lost his arm to Metal Knuckles
"I even lost my arm in the process…"
"I was about to give up. But after that point that was when I found him."
"He is meant to be the hero of this world."
Fog opens his eyes for a moment and sees Velocity in tears
Fog closes his eyes
"I'm sorry for everything….. Velocity…."
Velocity is crying over Fog's body
Onyx clenches her fists
Onyx looks down at Fog
ONYX
"He's not breathing."
"He's dead."
VELOCITY
"No, this can't be."
Velocity starts to tremble
VELOCITY
"You promised me Fog, you promised you would never leave me!"
Tears stream down Velocity's face
VELOCITY
"Please don't leave me…"
Velocity starts to scream in emotional pain
A blue aura starts to appear around Velocity
Onyx looks at Velocity with a surprised look
Onyx takes a step back from Velocity
Fog levitates to his feet as his blood pool float back into his wound
Velocity looks at Fog with awe as he glows with a blue aura
The rock that originally pierced Fog's heart floats back through Fog's chest to the entry wound. Going back to where it was initially found
The wound in Fog's chest begins to close and heal
Fog opens his eyes with a surprised look
Velocity's blue aura dissipates
Fog looks around at his surroundings
Fog looks at his hands and clenches his fist. Then unclenching them
FOG
"How is this possible."
Fog looks at Velocity
FOG
"Did you awaken your ability?"
Velocity lunges at Fog and gives him a huge hug
Velocity starts to cry into Fog's chest
VELOCITY
"I thought I lost you!"
Fog looks down at Velocity wide-eyed
FOG
"You saved me."
Fog looks ahead of Velocity and sees Onyx looking at him
Tears start to flow down Onyx's face
Fog puts down Velocity as Velocity starts to wipe away his cheeks
Onyx runs toward Fog and hugs him
ONYX
"I thought I lost you too."
Fog puts his arms around Onyx
FOG
"I'm sorry to make you worry."
ONYX
"You dummy."
Onyx lets go of Fog and takes a couple of steps back
Fog looks at Velocity
FOG
"This shouldn't be possible but you just saved my life."
"You changed the future."
Velocity looks at Fog with a confused look
VELOCITY
"Did I really?"
Fog feels the area where the hole was from Metal Silver's attack
Fog stretches his arms out and then his legs
FOG
"I feel like how I did before the fight with Metal Amy. I feel great."
Fog looks back at Velocity
FOG
"Is your power to reverse the time of anything you touch?"
Velocity looks at his hands
VELOCITY
"I don't know. I just- I just felt something. Like a smooth rushing power and when I touched you it looked like you this happened."
ONYX
"So the kid wasn't really powerless after all."
Fog puts his hand on his chin and starts to think
FOG
"If you can reverse time. That means you might be able to speed up time too."
An explosion is heard in the background
Fog turns around and looks in the direction of the explosion
FOG
"I can't beat it on my own."
Onyx looks at Fog
ONYX
"You don't have to."
Fog looks back at his two compatriots
FOG
"I know that now."
Fog walks up to Velocity and crouches
Fog puts his hand on Velocity's shoulder
FOG
"Velocity."
Velocity looks at Fog in the eyes
FOG
"You might be the key to us winning this fight."
