Chapter 35: Chaos

Vincent quickly planted the bombs in key places in the Mako reactor. He was thankfully using bombs that weren't too high in yield, in order to not harm the civilians that were too close to the reactor. Unlike Barrett's radical cell of Avalanche in the far future.

Vincent gave a satisfied nod at his work as he made his way to reactor 1. Deciding to detonate them all at the same time. He doubled down on his efforts and immediately travelled to the next sector so he could plant bombs there as well.

"Hmph, it seems that Shinra simply aren't prepared for something like this. No matter, I will definitely take down their reactors then, this will be a huge blow to them." Vincent gingerly sneaked at the Mako reactor.

He quickly did his job, already knowing the bomb sites by memory. But at the 3rd reactor, he was met by a few SOLDIERs and they quickly found him. They weren't wearing the typical SOLDIER uniform, so Vincent thought they were just some competent mooks.

The soldiers were quiet and just raised their weapons at him. "Finally, a little challenge. Don't make this too easy for me now." Vincent brandished Cerberus and aimed at them. But he was surprised when the sword wielder on the squad of 4 rushed at him with blinding speed.

The ex-Turk immediately backpedaled, but he was surprised again when the back line quickly casted debuffs on him. A spell to slow him down, the other one then fired his guns at him with deadly accuracy. Vincent fired back with Cerberus and cancelled out the bullets with his own.

He frowned at the strength of his enemies, and he suddenly felt a chilling air behind him as the last one that just disappeared was already there. Preparing to turn him into a skewer with his shortsword. Vincent managed to jump in the air and dodge, but he received a small cut on his back.

"What the hell are you guys? Are you perhaps one of those SOLDIERs? Then it's high time I see how strong you really are." Vincent took a deep breath and calmed himself down. Analyzing his enemies in front of him.

They didn't utter a word, making Vincent think that was weird. But he just reloaded his gun and focused on the fight, talk was futile after all. The SOLDIERs were the first batches of Underground. Hojo's secret SOLDIER force, SOLDIER was the one that stands in the spotlight, while Underground were trained to be the absolute best and undergo secret missions.

Even Turks or SOLDIERs will give up on the horrendous amounts of torture, training, and experiments done to the troops of Underground. The only thing limiting their numbers right now is the accessibility of Minerva cells. As Gast have successfully set back Hojo's production of Jenova cells. And every person is different, Minerva cells weren't a one size fits all.

The battle started once again, with Vincent being outnumbered by warriors that are comparable to 1st class. The dedicated mage of their party buffed everyone's speed, magical defense, and physical defense. Making Vincent frown heavily.

While they were doing that, he cleansed himself of the slow that the mage casted unto him and aimed at the said person. With a muzzle flash, his tri-barreled gun roared. But the assassin type used his immense speed to cut down his bullets.

"Damn, this is going to be hard…" Vincent was miffed and cracked his old bones, preparing for the spiciest fight of his life. The gunner aimed down his sights and Vincent noticed, so he quickly made the first move.

He targeted the swordsman and gave suppressing fire on the assassin while he moved in for CQC. The swordsman brandished his weapon and swung his sword horizontally. The gunner's amazing dynamic vision saw a chance and fired on Vincent as their minds went into slow motion.

Vincent blocked the assassin's blade with the braces on his arms and simultaneously fired at the gunner and mage with Cerberus. He then pre-casted Thundaga as lightning fell on the swordsman. In all under a second, the backline campers got shot in the middle of their forehead, blowing their brains out.

While the swordsman got fried by the violent lightning of his spell. "Fuuuu. That was close, you guys are good. But not good enough, it seems." Vincent's eyes glowed as he stared at the last one, the assassin. His emotionless eyes stared back, with no fear in his mind and body.

They went into a stance and waited for each other to make a move. But Vincent's patience won out as he was a spy. The assassin used his speed and tried to trick Vincent by moving erratically. Though he didn't have the element of surprise anymore and Vincent just waited for him to make his move and counter it with his own.

After a few seconds, the assassin noticed that Vincent wasn't launching any attacks and got impatient. He ran it down and decided to go into CQC, thinking that Vincent would surely be pressured and make a mistake as he doesn't have a weapon to parry or block.

But that was a mistake, as his weapon felt like it struck steel. Vincent transforming to his werewolf form. His hand immediately skewered the soldier on the chest and he coughed up blood. Quickly dying from the injury, Vincent's arm that got thicker destroyed his heart instantly.

Vincent transformed back to his human form and sighed. "Hah, that's still a bit hard to control, I can only use it for a couple of seconds." Vincent sighed and thought that his powers were really useful, but it was really troublesome.

He was about to continue the mission, but he forgot a crucial rule that was a grave mistake. A sword quickly pierced him on the chest and Vincent went wide eyed in shock. "Fuck, I'm getting too rusty." Vincent immediately fired behind him and smoked the swordsman on the face.

"Hah, hah. Damn it!" Vincent looked at the sword on his chest and didn't quite know what to do. Suddenly, Chaos started to take over because of his injury. He turned into a demonic being and pulled the sword out of his chest, quickly recovering from the otherwise fatal damage.

Vincent then flew to the skies and could feel the power, coupled with his psychological damage. He went into a rampage, throwing violent energy at the Mako reactor as Chaos felt it was necessary to destroy the Mako reactors that have been sucking up the lifestream.
