Chapter 34 Lein’s Monologue: The Problem of the Lone Philosopher

I also want to know why… If Ken didn't mention it I would've forgotten everything about it…

If I tried to analyze everything. It would be because she reminds me of someone… or maybe because of the first impression? No… that's not right… Humans tend to feel attracted to those who are the same or opposite of them… So I am attracted because we are similar? But I have a feeling that's not the right answer… That will only be the tip of the iceberg…

"Let's see…" I sat on the couch, laid my back, and stared at the ceiling.

Haruka, Haruka… I am sure that this is our first meeting… Or was it? Was it really our first time meeting? No… I am pretty sure that it is our first meeting… I would've remembered her if I did… Or maybe it was because of magic? But…rejected… I always have backup memories stored in myself or Philo…

Unless…it can also affect the backup memories… "It is possible…"

But it lacks the motive… Why would it target me of all people? In the case of an entity known as Haruka was inevitably removed from my memory… Why would that be?

"Nope… Let's think again"

There are some phenomena where people feel like they know a person they only met… Is it Deja vu? If it is… it wouldn't be still enough to explain why it felt like we know each other for years…

"Is it because it's interesting?" my philosopher instincts are telling me I must answer this… I must solve this problem… I MUST… whatever it takes…I WILL.

The first thing to do is to state the problem… My main problem is "Why do I feel like I know everything about the entity called Kisaragi Haruka"

Indeed why is it? Except for the questions I stated before… If I never met her then there is no record… if there is no record then it means I never met her… But the question is… is there a possibility that my memory was manipulated? Or changed? Was it replaced?….

But still, if I analyzed every memory I have there are bound to be contradictions… It is impossible to rewrite everything… Memory is a part of our soul… To change the memory of a being it can be scientifically or magically… The scientific process is plausible but it does not explain why my other backup memories were changed… And it takes a lot of process, we are talking about science here… For magic… it is hard to conclude… there are a lot of magecrafts in which it can affect the mind but…none at this level…

"I can feel it. There is something tampered in my mind" I might be crazy but I am without a doubt correct… It might be subjective but it is nonetheless correct…

"How just how?" I pondered. I walked around the room. Thinking. I kept thinking… I went to the table and read random stuff. I walked away and went to the shelves. I picked a random book and flipped it quickly browsing the pages. I am lacking something… It is not magecraft nor science… "THEN WHAT THE H*** IS IT???" I shouted

I went back to my seat and laid my back again staring at the ceiling… Just what is it? I kept asking myself… I stood up again and walked around… I flipped random books and walked again… "Agh! This is harder than when I was creating Philo" I grumbled

Should I give up?….

"Ha! Not in a million years! If even Philo says that it is not a Magecraft then what will it be?"

It must be something… Something that exists in this world… Just…just a little bit more… I feel like I can…

"It must be impossible…something only miracles can do…" I said while laying down on the messy floor.

"MIRACLE!!!" I sat up because of my sudden realization "THAT'S IT!!! A MIRACLE!!!"

It is impossible by using magecraft or science. It is impossible for these two… But it is not impossible for that thing…

"Why didn't I think of it?!?"

I stood up and grabbed the paper closest to me. I don't care what it is as long as I can write on it. I then grabbed my pen and open it.

In theory, our soul contains our memories. This is why some people admit that they remember their past lives or this is why people remember things that they never knew or have never encountered yet.

But this theory is something I can't just debunk. "Why?"

"Heroic spirits themselves can be considered as something like a soul"

They are not technically souls but they are the greatest examples of a human or a demon or something…remembering their past life…they are spirits! Spirits of the once living beings! And they are beings that are continuously summoned at every time, doesn't that make them temporal beings? No to be precise, they are not temporal beings… but beings that can be summoned to different timelines… it does look redundant…

"But what does this mean???"

If a heroic spirit can remember their past lives or even just a fraction of their vague memories… If they can… then if a human was also engraved to the throne of heroes…

"Ah! I see now"

Soul, memories, servants, temporal, past lives, and impossible or miracles…

"I see now… I see" I just laughed at the scribble I made on the paper. "Haha this is crazy"

"Ah, now I remember… It was me all along… I was the one who tampered with my memory… I must be an idiot"

"It was the holy grail all along…"

"I see…this explains everything… HA! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" I laughed and gripped the pen so hard it crushed

"So Haru-nee was the key to everything… just how many times will you make me go crazy…no matter the times…" I sighed and stared at the ceiling again

"So that is why I feel like something is wrong…no…that is why there is something wrong… in 'This Hallowed Grail War'… the entity known as Kusanagi Ken…should've died from the first battle…"
