Chapter 7

This was the last day Gil had before school started so he chose to stay in the training hall all day. He woke up early and done his morning run and arrived earlier then normal. Today he wanted to try mixing his swordsmanship and mana attack's together. Walking over to the dummy he, started his warm up. By the time he had finished another person had arrived in the training ground. Gil didn't bother looking and started to attack the dummy with his sword, after he got into a good pattern with one hand he lifted his left to fire a water blast. Gil realised that the time before attacking with his sword to attacking with the blast was to long. Again Gil started again this time with a file blast then with wind and finally with earth. Gil though the fastest was fire and decided to practice this some more.

At this point the training was fairly busy and people started to notice Gil was doing the same thing again. Some assumed he was mute as they've never heard him speak or engage with any one.

"I bet he's trying to look tougher then he is." Joe said to his group of friends staring at Gil. "I reckon I could beat him in a fight in 5 moves"

"Go challenge him then if your a man" Tom edged him. Even though people have talked about it there hasn't been any actual fights since the tests on day one.

The rest of the group wanting to see a fight started encouraging him and other heard this and talked about it to there friends. Soon Joe had no opportunity to back down without losing face.

He slowly walked up to Gil and stood there waiting for an opportunity to talk.

*cough*

Gil didn't react and focused on his attacks. Joe did the same and got no different results, on the third time he stepped between the two when Gil took a breath.

"I challenge you to a fight" Joe said this loud enough that everyone heard.

Gil wasn't sure how to respond and looked around to see who the man was talking to. After realising it must be him he pointed to himself.

"Yeah you Mr Silver." Joe scoffed. "Silver" was the nick name that Gil had been given, due to his silver hair. Other students had nick names as well either self imposed or given. Once it's was given that was how you where known.

"Umm okay.." Gil responded not knowing who Mr Silver was. "How about at 4 in the evening"

Gil suggested this time as he felt he was getting the hang of attacking with mana and sword.

"Good don't be late" with that Joe left and Gil went back to attack the dummy. With the duel set at 4 Gil wanted to grasp what he felt, so started practice hard and causing a few people to watch.

News of the first duel spread like fire and soon everyone know. Even the new students that had just finished there test where aware of it. The reason this spread so fast was because Joe was going to fight. Joe came from a family who specialised in strength and where always very powerful hunters.

As the time got closer to 4 there where talks about the duel and who was going to win. Soon the training ground was full of all the first years and a few older people that where the teachers.

With ten minutes before the duel a middle aged man raised his hand and a raised platform emerged from the ground. The man walked onto it and again raised his hand, however this time we was indicating for silence.

"Good evening first years, I am the person in charge of you for the time being. My name is Dell. Before we begin the first of many duels I would like to talk about tomorrow whilst your all here." Dell paused for a bit before continuing. "When you go back to your rooms tonight, there will be a map on your bed with directions to where in the castle to head to. Based on the tests done when you joined we have split you into different classes. These classes are:

Attackers- these will be people facing the monsters from the gates

Support- they will provide support where needed.

These will be split more but this is a breath overview. These classes aren't set in stone and can be swapped but we think this is the best chooses. I now believe that it is time for the duel, will both parties pleas make your way to the stage."

Gil made his was through the onlookers and onto the platform after a second of waiting for people to let him through. He got into the habit of activating mana detection whenever he saw a teacher to view how they use mana. This time he received a message when the platform raised from the ground. He wanted to read it hoping for a new skill but decided it was best to hear what the man had to say.

As he stared at the boy waiting there he inspected him.

"Now, I believe no rules have been set. How about first to surrender" Dell proposed. After waiting for a second and hearing no complaints "Also, we have a healer over there so don't hold back. With this, let the duel begin"
