Cosmic Dragon in the Multiverse

A dragon in the multiverse story. I read 'Abyssal Phoenix - Multiverse' and liked it enough to want to write a similar story myself. That said, this story is very much written for fun, there won't be any romance, and it'll be fast paced. Main character is reborn as an infant Kaiju in Pacific Rim. He gets stronger pretty damn fast, and does so by eating (similar to Rimuru). I'm undecided on whether I'll give them a human form yet, since I didn't plan ahead and instead am writing as I go. If you want a better written and more fun version of this story, please go check out Sorrest story called Abyssal Phoenix - Multiverse ---------------------------------------- 1st World - Pacific Rim: 3 chapters 2nd World - Atlantis: The lost Empire: 1 Chapter 3rd World - Godzilla Earth: 3 Chapters

Something of Me...

Time passed while I slept. Months, years, decades… centuries and millennia. All passed by in what may as well have been seconds. My mind was still active, yet in a hazy state- only to wake if and when I should detect a threat or annoyance.

I was dimly aware of my body shifting and becoming more proficient over time… specifically toward the role I was mimicking. At the beginning of my slumber, I saw fit to assume the role of the Sun, the giver of life in this solar system… and truly I was doing a rather terrible job at it. Aside from gravitational effects and generating heat, I wasn't anywhere near as effective as a true star would be…

…That had changed shortly into my slumber, as my body unconsciously improved upon my shoddy mimicry- at first making it so that I was on par with the original, meaning life could once more arise on Earth. But it didn't stop there… Soon it went further, with the heat and light being able to affect each planet separately- basically tailoring the amount received to be the perfect amount to help life flourish.

The final stage had seen my light become a herald OF life- with it providing far more nourishment and causing life to sprout in what once would have been nearly impossible environments! Whether that be through generating an atmosphere or causing life to sprout up that was capable of surviving regardless.

Volcanic hellscapes now had silicon-based lifeforms beginning to spread, icy tundras had either crystalline beings immune to the cold, or aberrant leviathans living deep under the ice. Even Jupiter had given rise to its own crazy life…

Mercury Omni POV~

At first there was a gray, lifeless ball of rock rotating around the Sun, but… as time passed, small patches of land were beginning to turn black. Looking closer, a giant black flower-like plant was beginning to take root- its petals acting like solar panels as it absorbed the harsh light and converted it to nutrients to help it grow and procreate.

As it did this, it also filtered the atmosphere and nurtured it to become far more hospitable- this combined with their canopies creating safe zones free of the harsh radiation, led to bug-like organisms rising up. These bugs would also latch upon the flowers to feast upon the energy they were filtering… eventually leading to a peculiar instance of a beetle and flower creating a symbiotic relationship, as the flower took root upon its back- providing the beetle some of its energy, while the beetle in turn could move around and reach the well-lit areas.

This single individual was incredibly successful- and over time became the norm for their species, even learning to harness this solar energy offensively against predators that soon rose to challenge them.

Facilitated by the flowers, the beetles grew to enormous sizes- more akin to walking mountains- with thousands of other species of both fauna and flora flourishing upon their backs under the protection of the solar flowers. And upon one such beetle's back- a species of moth-like humanoids would emerge… and though far weaker than life around them, they had something that the rest lacked… cunning.

Venus Omni POV~

Venus was a place of intense heat and horrific volcanic activity… something that really hadn't changed much, in fact… it had gotten hotter. This world led to the rise of a giant species of worm- similar in composition to that of the atlantean leviathans… thus allowing them to easily resist the ambient heat and in fact draw energy from it.

The planet at first was swarmed by them, as they had no predators and basically had a perfect environment… something which led to multiple volcanos going dormant as too much of their energy was being siphoned. This left only the largest and smartest of the worms alive- either being large enough to bully opponents away from any active volcanoes, or smart enough to develop extremely primitive family units that would dig down and create their own.

Both efforts eventually led to the surface being almost eternally flooded with a volcanic sea- which also led to more forms of life beginning to arise. Just as fitting then, that this volcanic sea led to the rise of lifeforms that looked quite similar to marine life on earth- with whales, fish, coral and even deep sea horrors. All of them are also silicon based and filling their own niches in the environment.

Back to the worms…

The larger bullies diversified into almost draconic looking serpents of immense proportions- becoming more akin to natural disasters, while the family units eventually became smaller and grew extra appendages to manipulate tools and facilitate craft.

The serpents were essentially the dragons of myth to the tribes, and only through devastating losses and ingenuity would they occasionally be capable of taking one down- which was also seen as the greatest feat of strength. Thus an equilibrium was reached, with the sulphuric seas being contested for thousands of years, as both sides took part in an arms race for rulership of the planet.

Earth Omni POV~

Earth… the big blue marble. That's what it was, once upon a time… not anymore. It was a barren world of scorched glass and pockmarked destruction. Even as the other planets gave rise to life… Earth still remained barren for far longer. It was only rather recently (in the last few million years) that the planet was seemingly revived from the dead.

Unlike the conditions that once graced this world- now it gave rise to the harshest and bloodiest conditions imaginable- as if the planet itself held spite toward the life it contained. Everything was deadly… EVERYTHING.

The soil only grew plants that were poisonous or carnivorous… many times both. Flowers would spread poisonous pollen and contain hidden sets of sharpened teeth to consume anything that got too close. Regular looking trees were made of a material so strong, and so sharp, that carelessly running into them could see an animal bisected. Hurricanes and tsunamis were a semi-regular occurrence, as were almost all types of natural disasters.

Any creatures that survived this gauntlet would either be similar to how life once was on this planet- if larger, stronger, fiercer and deadlier. Or, they would be some strange combination of multiple different species… or occasionally some monstrous new creature far beyond any that had lived before.

Insects could be small and numerous- like a living tide of destruction that ate everything in their path, or large and bulky enough to fight for the higher spots on the totem pole… OR, they could be either of these with the addition of poison, spitting acid, or eusocial and organized- the most destructive of all.

Reptiles had become even more powerful than the dinosaurs at their highest- with creatures similar to Tyrannosaurus Rex looking puny in comparison. The 2 most powerful (land) species on the planet were reptiles- the first being a version of European dragons that could get as large as a stadium and breathed fire, and the second being a species of large ground-dwelling lizards that were just… tenacious shall we say. To put it in more unkind terms, they were a living trash compactor that could eat anything, were immune to almost everything, and were incredibly aggressive and territorial.

Mammals and avians hadn't been left out of the mix, with the skies being full of the smartest species on the planet- a type of toothed crow as big as a car that would incite fights between different creatures before swarming whoever won and eating them both. Mammals had become much like the reptiles- bigger and stronger in almost every way, with the 3rd place on the totem pole of life on land belonging to a species of giant bear that had a back lined with sharp quills. Ironically they were perhaps the ones that resembled their ancient predecessors the most…

The ocean was simultaneously the safest and most dangerous place on the planet- with the massive chunk torn out of the planet filling up with water and creating the largest and deepest pit the planet had ever seen. Leviathans which were large enough to put those from Pacific Rim to shame were what populated such a place, and as a wise man once said… there's always a bigger fish. And truly? There always was.

Multiple times, a species on this planet would reach the point of possibly advancing and starting a civilization… Yet like clockwork, they would always face a sudden and dire turn of events, always ending in their annihilation. Plagues, swarms of deadly creatures, natural disasters, famine, war and droughts… all had wiped a species out on the cusp of stepping forward at least once.

Wit and ingenuity only got you so far in this deadly world… strength, whether that be through sheer power, numbers, skill or tenacity… was the only way forward.

Mars Omni POV~

Unlike Earth… or perhaps similar to what it once was, Mars had started off by being covered in a layer of green algae- which over the course of thousands of years had made the atmosphere rather habitable- pair this with insects coming along and consuming the algae, and you already had a small ecosystem.

It followed a path very similar to what Earth once had- with large oceans creating strange organisms which eventually led to fish, then reptiles, birds and mammals… or at least their equivalent. Millions of years later and it looked remarkably similar to Earth during the age of the dinosaurs.

Millions of years later again, and not having any mass extinction level events occurring, had given rise to a group of large bipedal bird people. Like humanity, they spread out and conquered their planet- with vast towers of steel, glass and concrete cities dotting the planet. They'd also gotten to the point of being able to look at the other planets, and also the sun- being amazed to find that they were not the only planet with life… and that the very star they orbited was in fact a giant being of unknown origin.

The discovery related to the sun had at first been covered up by their government… but over time the seal could no longer hold, and a massive wave of religious panic spread throughout the planet- eventually causing a war that unified them all under the banner of 'The Golden God'. This was helped along by their leader- a female priestess who happened to be born with golden feathers, a stronger body, and a greatly enhanced lifespan.

A few thousand years had passed since then, with the race making great scientific leaps under the leadership of the golden royals, as they then began efforts to colonize and contact other planets.

Jupiter Omni POV~

Jupiter itself looked practically identical after so much time, though it was feared by every nearby civilization for a good reason- every few centuries astronomers on other planets would catch a glimpse of what appeared to be an enormous worm… which would fully emerge once every few thousand years only to consume one of Jupiter's moons.

A shame since several of those moons appeared to foster life… and the question eventually became… What happens when it runs out of food? This led several civilizations to gear up and create contingencies for such a day.

None more so than the tri-species federation established between the civilizations based off of Jupiter's moons- The underground sea squids of Europa, the also underground sea whales of Ganymede, and the golem looking giants of Callisto.

Interestingly this monstrous creature acted in a similar manner to nuclear contingencies- with the general threat being that should war emerge, the loser would lead the worm to the opponents planet to ensure it was destroyed… thus forcing them to all be cooperative.

Saturn Omni POV~

Unlike Jupiters facade of lifelessness while realistically housing some monstrous creature, Saturn was almost entirely barren- with the only life being a type of bacteria that propagated in its upper atmosphere.

Its moons on the other hand…

Titan was the best example- with it becoming rather similar to Mars… if becoming habitable and gaining life far faster. It became a fully aquatic world, with oceans spanning the entire planet, and even leading to the birth of a species of dolphin people… a people who got on very well with the whale people of Ganymede- even offering to house them if they didn't feel safe near Jupiter.

Other miscellaneous moons around Saturn also housed life, yet most were extremely primitive, or in the case of Enceladus and its subterranean crabs, simply never reached the surface.

Uranus Omni POV~

Uranus remained (from an outside perspective) practically identical over time, yet had given birth to perhaps the strangest creatures of any planet- with crystalline sea-urchin looking creatures with an outer shell made of a type of ice… that was hot instead of cold.

The only reason it even could exist was due to Uranus' extreme pressure, and due to the Sun's influence. They had no brain to speak of, and used their needles to stab into the ground to eventually grow into a new urchin. They passively absorbed heat to continue their limited biological functions… And it's not like they needed much energy anyway when the currents pushed them from place to place and food was abundant.

Neptune Omni POV~

Neptune, being very similar to Uranus both in size, conditions and distance… had ironically changed immensely- as the once blue planet had shifted to become completely white from the clouds which had begun covering the planet.

The clouds originated from gigantic slime creatures which passively generated steam, as they sucked up the ice and consumed the microorganisms that dwelt within it before exhaling the excess. Combined with their prolific rate of procreation, it ended up creating a cycle of constant cloudy weather which also eventually harbored its own unique organisms.

Even stranger, this eventually created a greenhouse effect for the planet- heating it up further and spawning more life… which ended up becoming food for the slimes, which exploded in number and made more steam, which made the planet hotter… and so on and so forth as the slimes and other creatures entered an evolutionary arms race to survive and thrive which caused the planet to enter a period similar to the cambrian explosion, as life went wild.

The life that developed was never very smart on Neptune, but let nobody say it wasn't abundant.

Pluto Omni POV~

Pluto- due to the slight changes in gravity, had actually collided with Charon… its largest moon. Even after millions upon millions of years, the entire planet was still a giant melting pot of volcanic activity and molten rain.

No life had sprung up (surprise surprise), but its composition did lend credence to the idea that one day, it most certainly would.

Pavoros POV~

.

..

With a start, I suddenly found myself seemingly in the middle of a collection of swirling galaxies and twinkling nebula… ones that looked mighty familiar.

"Welcome back… hatchling"

And lo and behold I was correct, as the thousand yet one voice that echoed in my head caused me a slight amount of pain, though noticeably lesser than the previous occasion. Damn that's annoying…

"Good to be back… grandpa"

The universe rumbled with what sounded like a low chuckle "Cheeky aren't we?... I'll let it slide this once. Your transformation is nearly complete, as is your ascension. Once it is, I will have a task for you."

Task? I'm not a fucking dog!

Despite not saying anything out loud, it was clear that he'd heard my thoughts as a thunderous laugh echoed from all around me "HAHAHAHA!! And that's why I chose you! Feel free to say no, just know that you'd be missing a chance at greater growth."

"The first thing I'm doing once this is done is visiting my daughter, anything you need will have to be after that."

Again the universe rumbles an approximation of a chuckle "Very bold of you to assume you even have the ability to say no… but fine, visit your spawn first. The task will come afterward, speaking of which…"

I was annoyed at his casual dismissal of my ability… at the fact I knew he was right.

"...Your task is simple, I need you to visit my idiotic brother and help raise his daughter after he dies."

He knows his brother is going to die? "...Why not just save him from death then if you know his end is nigh? For that matter… if he's your brother and is even a thousandth as powerful as you are, wouldn't anything that kills him absolutely mop the floor with me? Or is it a case of mutual destruction?"

I swear he sounds almost exasperated "Nothing like that… he knows his death approaches, yet accepts it due to it creating a (in his own words) better sequence of events. Also… he's an idiot because what kills him is a result of his own power!"

This sounds… oddly familiar "Your brother… could you tell me his name?"

With obvious disdain he says a single line just before I wake up "Veldanava"

And like that I opened my eyes back in reality.

…Fuck.

Veldanava huh?… guess Tensura is on the list then. And I have to raise Milim? I don't have much time to think about it as the notifications showing me what's changed cover my vision.

[Acknowledged]

Now… I separated out and created a smaller body while sending my main gargantuan one back to sleep. I also made sure that it was creating a new star in the meantime… didn't want to just leave and watch all of the life I'd created die off.

Also, being smaller didn't mean I was weaker. Hmm… maybe I should say hello at least once before I leave this reality? Not like I have much else to do while a new star is cooking… and they shouldn't be… too zealous right?

Meanwhile on one of the nearby Avian aliens ships~

The Queen of the avians looked out of her port window with a dropped jaw…

"He… He awoke?!"

She could swear she even saw him glance in her direction!

Her nearby servants and guards were equally caught off guard (no pun intended), as everyone rapidly prostrated toward the port window and began fervently praying. Multiple guards also restrained the Queen as she tried to run.

"THE GOLDEN GOD AWAKENS! PREPARE THE QUEEN FOR SACRIFICE!"

Back with Pavoros~

Eh… should be fine.

Heyo! My leg is kinda normal again, and I no longer have to do a zombie shuffle! Should be back to normal-ish (if you can call my update schedule normal) updates from here on.
