Beacons Of The Dark Age

An apocalypse that wiped out 82% of humanities population. Myths that seemed to come out of a kid's story book or folklore and the 'Curse of time' that lingers on every human's skin. In a world ravaged by mythical creatures, where one must kill in order to live and see another sunrise. Vic is born into this post apocalyptic world, where he watches his father succumb to the curse of time. By becoming a beacon, he swore to evolve himself to the limit and destroy the 'void of myths' that had caused suffering and misery to the remaining population.

Believers of Time

"At first the name doesn't really strike fear, after all there were many religions in the previous world"

Disbelief filling his face, he had heard that the world of trancenders wasn't safe, but he assumed that was because the tattoo would appear when someone hit 13years, believing that danger was a possibility only because a 13year's old weren't fully capable.

Now hearing how fellow humans would kill for another ones time, he immediately understood why his father had refused to teach him anything.

Drawing him back from his train of thoughts, Anna continued " the group grew exceptionally first and so did the chaos and death.

"They started raiding the minor groups, snatching a third of peaceful groups time and killing anyone who would retaliate"

Now Vic was confused, she was talking as if the Believers of Time outnumbered the sole groups or were somehow far stronger than them.

"Why don't you just destroy the group then? Aren't you all trancenders? I'm sure if the small groups banded together they would be stronger than them"

Anna was speechless for a moment before glaring at him her eyes cold as ice

"Don't tell me, you don't even know the stages of evolution? Weren't you saying how you were gonna evolve to the limit? Seriously what were your guardians thinking?

"Huh! I know about the stages, they're nine of them, but my dad said that everyone currently on earth, were all trancenders and that no one had ever evolved a second time"

When Anna heard that, her face seemed to have eased up a little, explaining the foundation of the new world was one thing, but explaining the evolution path was another. His father must've really loved him Heaving a sign of relief she decided to explain further.

"I'm sure you saw the sight from before, and looking at you, you're a very intelligent kid so you must've figured it out, that, that wasn't something just a mere trancender would be capable off"

She was right, Vic had figured it out, but he didn't think too much of it, he just thought there were variations of levels and the experience of the trancender, but looking at her expression he figured he was way of mark.

"There aren't only trancenders on earth, infact there are over 100 manipulators, and I'm one of them"

Vic almost tripped from his orthodox stance he was on this whole time, he had expected some kind of weapons he read in books being the cause, but now Manipulators, never in his wildest dreams would he have guessed, and one was standing infront of him right now.

"What's your ability?" Looking at her with admiration and an expectant gaze, he asked.

"Swordmanship"

"What? But everyone can learn it, that's not really unique like how dad explained it"

Instead of explaining to him, she decided to just show him.

Drawing her black katana, she slashed a couple of slashes in the air, aiming them at the iron door of the warehouse she had forcefully closed, which was five meters away from them.

A second passed and then suddenly the iron door was sliced into countless tiny pieces.

Vic stood there motionlessly, he was surprised and at the same time afraid of the woman Infront of him and manipulators in general, all this power wielded by one human was outright against the laws of nature_then again everything was in this world, but even after the display something still bothered him.

How did they figure out the conditions for the second evolution, his father had told him about the ancient writings, and it never spoke of the conditions for the second evolution, but he didn't ask her that question, he knew she would tell him one way or another.

But the one thing he wanted to know was why they weren't really fighting, Vic had always been a clever kid so he knew that something was a miss.

"Why haven't you destroyed the Believers of time yet?" Knowing he had previously interrupted her explanation, Vic asked, Manipulators weren't really the cause, he was sure about that, even if the Believers of Time had multiple Manipulators there was no way they outnumbered the ones on the many groups.

"I was getting there eventually" Anna shot him a cold look before continuing "You see evolving from one level to another comes with it's perks. An example is when a Trancender evolves into a Manipulator, in addition to abilities, they gain ten times their original strength . Simply means a Manipulator can take on 15 Trancenders and if he or she were going all out and using their ability to the max, winning wouldn't be an issue"

At this moment Vic now knew why every time he would go out, his father and almost everyone from his group would warn him about venturing far or at night. Pulling him away from the train of thoughts she continued and what she revealed next made Vic shudder in fear.

"You asked why we hadn't attached them yet, the reasons aren't that hard to guess, Believers of Time are the strongest group ever known to man.

Having the first batch of trancenders who managed to evolve to Manipulators, they have the strangest of abilities and are way more experienced in using them.

But that's not the reason we haven't retaliated, it's because of their leader, who's already evolved to a Rezer."
