The train that pulled into Anhalt station was almost a wreck. The engine had a massive hole in its topmost cylinder, the forward cars were full of bullet holes, and Zai's green-painted frame was the least damaged thing on its platform as she stood next to it.
Taking out her frustrations on the royalists had provided her with a surprising amount of post-battle clarity. The fact that Fulcrum had challenged her to take as many of them alive as she could made things difficult, but she'd won despite the restriction. Now the first people offloaded were the royalist prisoners, who were all tied together by lengths of rope.
