Amri
Some realities of military life were hard for Amri to get used to, like when to wake up. When she awoke at what she considered to be a decent hour, it was to a room devoid of Zai.
Zai had gone off to battle, and Amri realized that she was very much at risk of losing the woman who'd saved her life. The woman who was fighting not just for her but for everybody... the woman she was growing increasingly sure she loved... And there was nothing she could do about it, not without taking away everything that made Zai who she was.
She touched her forehead, remembering the small kiss Zai had delivered when she whispered her goodbyes earlier in the morning.
Sitting up in bed, she reached for the switch on the lamp that occupied her desk, flicking it on as she stood off the bed.
