Chapter 7 | I came to watch the show.

Having a dinner at a large table, sat all the Ra Yellow students. After a small welcome speech the dinner came under way.

I sat beside Bastion while enjoying the meal, though Bastion was quite awkward to talk to, he sounded like a robot and sometimes he'd just talk about long math equations I couldn't fathom even being connected to duel monsters. I mean seriously he was a fucking genius, but couldn't understand how to beat someone who trusts in his card?

Man I was beginning to understand why Kaiba was so jaded about Yugi's heart of the cards, the 'heart of the cards' is pure bullshit. Honestly, with all his money Kaiba could change the entire game or make an auto-win deck, but Yugi would pull some 'heart of the cards' bullshit out of his ass and probably still be able to win... unless their needs to be any character development in the plot.

After the dinner ended, I lied tiredly on my bed, however I remembered something.

''Aren't Jaden and Chazz going to duel later?'' I mumbled roughly remembering something about that.

Deciding to watch, I quickly got a soda, popcorn, and some snacks, before heading out.

Going towards the same Obelisk Blue arena I discreetly avoided cameras and campus security using my heightened senses and physic.

Soon reaching the arena I noticed talking, it seemed like Jaden wasn't here yet and only Chazz and his fan club where here. Deciding not to show my self I discreetly walked in the shadows like some edge lord and moved to the stands, but stopped half way as I noticed someone.

Quickly heading to the hallway they where in and sneaking behind them I greeted them.

''What a wonderful night for a walk, right Lexie?'' I said from behind them, causing them to jump but just barely holding in a scream.

Breathing heavily she turned over to me and angerly screamed just loud enough to not be heard by Chazz's lackeys.

''I told you to stop doing that Aticu-'' She exclaimed but stops mid-sentence when she sees my face. I didn't hear what she said at the end, but she seemed genuinely pissed so I raised my hands in surrender and apologized.

''Sorry, sorry, too far?'' I said and took a step back to give her space.

''Illumi?'' She said to make sure, after hearing my voice. It was then I remembered it was kinda dark and she probably couldn't see me well. Thought for some reason I could see pretty well, is it an added affect of my body, I wondered.

''The one and only.'' I said in confirmation and she seemed to relax.

''Don't do that again.'' She said with a rebuking tone and I complied.

''Yah, my bad. Won't happen again.'' I said and she nodded in acknowledgment... even though normally I wouldn't be able to see her.

''So why are you hear?'' She asked me with a suspicious glare.

''Nothing weird, I swear. I thought that Chess guy would pull something with Jaden and Syrus so I decided to make sure everything was alright, but seeing them here I'm guessing Jaden's on his way.'' I explained, while intentionally getting Chazz's name wrong, and she seemed satisfied with my answer.

''Fine, I believe you. I'm here because I thought Chazz would pull something too.'' She said and I nodded.

''Well, what's the worse that could happen? They duel and one of them loses?'' I asked, trying to ease her conscious, and it seemed to work.

''I guess your right... if they want to duel each other not much I can do about it...'' She agreed sighing at the end.

''huuh... I shouldn't of calm, I just got paranoid and thought something might happen...'' She said, her shoulder slumping as she let's out a frustrated breath.

I guess she's kind of paranoid after her brother disappeared... I can understand that, but she should get her mind off of that.

''Well not much you can do now that your here. So, wanna go watch the duel? I brought snacks~?'' I asked, emphasizing the snacks, while raising my hand holding the bag of snacks. Alexis seeing the bag giggled gently and smiled the stress and anxiety slowly leaving her eyes.

''hahaha~ fine might as well. Have any chips?'' She asked after falling for the devil's temptations(snacks).

''Which type of chips? I've got normal, salted, sour cream and union, everything, even vinegar and I hate vinegar.'' I said trying to brighten her mood, she once again laughed as we situated ourselves on the bleachers and shared some snacks and drinks as we waited for Jaden. The entire time, Chazz and his lackeys hadn't even noticed we we're here.

Enjoying the snacks me and Alexis talked for about 7 or 8 minutes until Jaden and Syrus entered. Jaden had his usual marry attitude, while Syrus seemed to be nervously lagging behind him.

Turning to Alexis I nudged her with my elbow and pointed towards the door. Turning towards the door she noticed Jaden and was about to walk down, but I grabbed her hand and sat her back down.

''What?'' Alexis asked confused

Turning to me, I pointed to my face, taking a second to understand she realized she had crumbs on her face. With slightly red cheeks she whipped her face with her handed got off most of the crumbs. Looking over to me, Alexis asked if she had cleaned it up.

''Did I get all of it.'' She asked not knowing the little smudge on her cheek, from a Cheetos like snack.

Taking out a white cloth, I threw it at her face. She reacted belatedly and the cloth covered her face, as she picked it off her face and glared at me.

''You've got a little on your cheek.'' I said with a teasing smile before walking down the bleachers (running away). Alexis, who's face turned slightly red from either anger or embarrassment... maybe both, wiped off her cheek with the cloth and hurriedly followed after me.

What really surprised me was her ability to run with those heel boots on.

Reaching the ground, they had already started the duel. Naturally I walked up behind Syrus and greeted him.

''AH!'' I shouted and Syrus absolutely lost his shit.

''AHHH!'' He screamed as he jumped forward and turned around, his head wiping from side to side looking for the source of the noise, ultimately landing on me.

''Not funny, Illumi!'' Syrus said, glaring at me.

On the other hand me and Jaden laughed hysterically while Chazz and his lackeys looked dumbstruck, Chazz a little startled himself. Even Alexis was standing at the back shaking her head.

''It was funny a little bit. But sorry Sy'' I responded and Jaden nodded along.

''It was funny.'' Jaden agreed.

''Bunch of children...'' Alexis mumbled shaking her head.

'Ya sure MOM' I thought in my head in response to Alexis, but she seemed to have been a mind reader.

''Did you just think something rude about me?'' She asked turning to me and I choked up slightly.

''N-no.'' I quickly answered, sounding unconvincing.

However as we talked Chazz decided to focus on the duel first.

''Tch, I'll deal with you later. For now I'm gonna wipe the floor with this fonney who got lucky.'' He said addressing me and continued on with the duel, he had just placed a trap and summoned Reborn zombie.

Remembering what his face down card was, I decided to mess with Syrus and Alexis.

''I bet you two 100DP, that Jaden summons his Wingman.'' I said to both of them and Syrus and Alexis looked at me oddly.

''It's not good to bet, Illumi.'' Syrus said.

''It's just a game, besides it's only 100DP.'' I replied and he still seemed hesitant.

''What about you Lexis?'' I asked, but she seemed against it.

''I don't think-'' Alexis tried to say, but I cut her off.

''Are you chicken?'' I asked using a 5th grader insult, but it seemed to work on Syrus.

''Fine your on!'' Syrus said with an invigorated tone.

''I'm still against it.'' Syrus said crossing her arms.

''No problem just me and Syrus, who ever wins gets 100DP.'' I said but Syrus seemed to realize something.

''Umm... but we don't have any DP yet, since the school year just started.'' He said looking at me.

''That's fine, just give it to me when you have it.'' I replied and after a moment Syrus agreed.

''Deal, but I think his summoning his Wingman is quite obvious.'' Syrus said and I could understand so I changed the bet.

''In that case, I bet; Jaden will summon Flame Wingman and Chazz will use some trapcard or something to take control of it.'' I said and Syrus confidently nodded.

''Ha sure, there's no way that'll happen! It's just free DP.'' Syrus said and Alexis nodded seeming to think I'm gonna lose on purpose.

However soon the game continued and Syrus was humbled.

''What's Chthonian polymers... stuff?'' Syrus asked and Alexis interjected.

''Chthonian polymer's a nasty trap. It allows you to take control of an opponents fusion monster by sacrificing one of your own creatures.'' Alexis explained and Syrus's eyes widened.

''Oh no Jaden just summoned a fusion monster...Wait that means Illumi won the bet.'' Syrus belatedly realized and I smirked, Alexis too widened her eyes when she realized.

''Ha Ha Ha, maybe I should become the next King of Poker instead of Games?'' I joked but Syrus fell to his knees.

''Oh no! I lost 100 DP...'' Syrus exclaimed and I decided to let him off.

''Double or nothing?'' I asked and after a bit of contemplating Syrus replied.

''Fine, I'll win this time.'' Syrus said.

''I don't think it's a good idea to keep betting Syrus.'' Alexis said but Syrus ignored her.

''Just this once!'' He said.

''Fine then... I'll bet that Jaden will somehow get his monster back too his field.'' I said and Syrus nodded assured of himself. Alexis too seemed to be listening intently.

''Ok deal! There's no way that's gonna happen.'' Syrus said as he watch Jaden's next move with his breath healed.

And by the end of Jaden's turn Syrus sighed in relief.

''Few! Seems like I won. Sorry, Illumi but you owe me 200D-'' Syrus said but I smiled mischievously and cut him off.

''Be patient.'' I said and soon Jaden played Mirror Gate.

''Nice move Jaden!'' I said but Syrus and Alexis stayed silent. They where to busy contemplating how I could know what's going to happen.

''Illumi... are you a prophet?'' Syrus asked and I broke into laughter.

''No, that's so stupid. How did you even come up with that?'' I replied trying to contain myself.

''So... triple? I asked but he didn't reply.'' I asked like the devil whispering.

''...'' Syrus didn't answer and refused to answer.

''Suit yourself.'' I said and a silence filled the 3 of us.

''Out of curiosity, what do you think would happen next?'' Alexis asked.

''Oh! next, we would stop the duel because of campus security.'' I said and Alexis's face froze.

''Campus security!?'' She exclaimed and like the anime stopped the duel.

This time however I was dragging Jaden with me.

Reaching the outside I put Jaden down.

''I had him too...'' Jaden mumbled and I interjected.

''Hey Jaden.'' I called out to him.

''Yah?'' He asked back and I smiled smugly.

''That was more than 3 turns.'' I pointed out and Jaden chocked up and started counting the turns on his fingers, after a moment Jaden exclaimed.

''Ah man! Your right...'' He said his shoulders slumping down.

''But I'm sure you'd win next turn.'' I added and Jaden seemed to regain his energy.

''You bet! I had him that last turn!'' He said and I smiled warmly.

At his words everyone started laughing including me.

''Hey, their something I said?'' Jaden asked slightly confused, only making us laugh harder.

Deciding it was enough I lightly smacked Syrus over the head.

''OW!'' he said and everyone turned to me.

''Syrus let today be a lesson to never gamble, ok'' I said and he became speechless.

''Wait you gamble, Sy? That's not a good habit...'' Jaden added and I nodded along. Syrus looked at both of us admonishing him, with a wronged look.

Alexis knowing having seen the bet and understood the situation became speechless and didn't know how too respond to my words, in the end she gave a tired sigh and smiled.

''It's alright as long as you learn.'' I threw him a save and grace before turning to Jaden.

''And you...'' I said, causing Jaden to take a step back.

''Don't get goaded into a duel like that again, ok?... and if you still do, tell me first.'' I rebuked him.

''Fine...'' Jaden replied in confirmation and I nodded my head.

''Alright time for you guys to get back to your dorms... Oh right.'' I was about to send them off but I remembered something and turned to Alexis.

''Thanks for looking out for them Alexis, get home safe.'' I said with a nod of appreciation to Alexis and she seemed unsure of how to respond.

''No problem, I didn't do much anyways.'' She replies and waves it off.

After that we all separated paths and went home.
