Unbreakable love: Only one I love

Alex had one goal in life to make enough money so she could give her mother a comfortable life. But her efforts always seemed less fruitful even with her adoptive father and step-sister by her side. "Am not crying, just got something in my eye " Alex sniffed. "Am sorry, here is something that might help" the stranger said passing his handkerchief. "Thank you," she said taking it. After wiping the falling tears she turned to look at the stranger. His long brown hair was moving with the breeze around him as his dark orbs stared down at her. He bent down took his hankie and gently wiped the still falling tears from her eyes, "you missed a spot" he smiled. She smiled remembering that night, it was the day she had met him. Nathan Livingston. The man who claimed to only have eyes for her and soon had proved it.

"Will mother forgive me for leaving like that?" asked Alex.

Nathan smiled, "All she has been saying was if you were alright, she never blamed you for leaving"

"I hope it wasn't too much for you to leave her in your care"

"She's the mother of the woman I love and I like her so much so it would never be a bother for me to look after her....although it seemed father enjoyed her company mostly," he said.

"I thought she was at your place?"

Nathan shook his head, "No, Dad insisted on taking her to the main house, to give us some privacy but then you left. She had refused to stay at first but I told her you desired to be under our care until you returned"

"Mother is stubborn and kind of like me. We don't like encroaching on others' personal space" she let out.

"Your family Alex that is not encroaching. And mother with time seemed to like it too" he smiled.

"Am glad she's okay?" she said.

...

"You have been so quiet since morning and didn't touch your breakfast, are you feeling unwell?"

Rosa glanced at Nathan's father, "Maybe a little fever but I will be fine after some rest".

Nathan's father moved closer gently touching her forehead, "You seem to have a temperature, maybe you should go lie down" he said.

She smiled slightly shaking her head," Am good, been doing a lot of sleeping these days it's affecting my strong body ".

George smiled, "Your strong body still needs a rest when you're sick"

"I have been doing hard chores for a long time that I never got sick, so I don't think am that weak now" she let out.

"I know but that phase has ended, now when your sick you should really rest. And you haven't been doing much sleeping lately, I noticed you wake up early doing all the chores even with the maids around" he said.

"But I can't stay here and do nothing, & am so used to them so it's not a hassle," she said.

George frowned, "Your our guest, the mother of my son's girlfriend you can't be doing all this. And do you know what my son will think of me when he finds out that I let you do all that? We pay those maids to do all that so ease stop bothering yourself" his hands slid into hers holding her.

"Thank you but I can't just do nothing all day," she said.

"Why not Rosa, you are in my house and as long as you are here you won't do those hard chores, please listen to me. Am worried about your health" he said.

She sighed, "Alright, but am only laying down for a few minutes"

George smiled, "Maybe we try the garden, it has a wonderful view & fresh air. It might help lighten up your mood," he said getting her up.

"You have a garden?" Rosa asked.

George nodded proudly, "I look after it myself, it's gorgeous. I nurture it so well it looks amazing"

She smiled listening to him as they walked off outside the house.
