Prologue (Part 2)

Two decades of living in the B.C.E...was hell. Even with a relatively well-off household, the lack of luxuries that I was used to was very fucking annoying.

It was especially annoying when the Vampires come to the manor, trying to make deals with us, the holders of the land, so we can overlook them taking and killing our people. I don't particularly care about them killing people, it just how they are around me because of my...appearance.

"Alistair, you truly are a beautiful human," Aimee, one of the local vampires said as she got in close behind me, "Why won't you let me change you into a Vampire? You'd be utterly stunning then," she asked as she took sniffs of my scent like some kind of perverted dog-woman. I kept a polite smile on my face despite my thoughts and put down the primitive syringe I was holding.

Currently, it was full to the brim with all sorts of liquids, looking like a technicolor rainbow trapped in glass. It was my newest serum.

"Because like I've said before, Aimee, I do not wish to become a Vampire. I'm perfectly fine with being human," I replied as I readied the four other syringes.

By now, my body could barely even be called human, however. I'd done so many experiments that I was changed down to a genetic level. Every human has a limit on the amount of muscle/power they could use at a time. Usually you can only use between 20%-30% of your potential muscle power. It's a limit put on the muscle cells by the brain to protect the body and to save energy.

Said limits comes off when a person enters a dangerous situation, however. It's usually called Hysterical Strength because it only comes about in the most severe of situations.

Though many years of chemical therapy and self-hypnotism, I've allowed my body to have this hysterical strength. This is why I asked for Peak Human Regeneration straight off the bat - if I didn't have it, I'd no doubt have crippled myself while doing this.

Anyway, if before I had enough physical strength to lift 310kg - a massive amount for the time and something I cultivated through specific workouts, a very strict diet, and chemical supplements that I'd engineered to have no side-effects. But like I was saying - if before I had enough physical strength to lift 310kg, then now I have enough strength to lift between 1000kg and 1500kg. So, my body has reached a superhuman level not seen by any other human, ever.

I've already completed the challenge given to me when it comes to Shapeshifters in their human form - I could definitely overpower one of them. Next is to work toward being able to overpower Vampires and the wolf form of the Shapeshifters.

You may be wondering 'How are you going to do that?' well, I found something when I released the limiters on my body - there are even more limiters after them.

You see, the limiters being removed didn't just give me an enhanced body, it gave me unreal control over my body. I can't change shape or anything but controlling my heartbeat and other bodily functions is as easy as breathing. Literally. This control came with something else - a sixth sense of sorts. One day, when I was messing about with re-creating electrical devices - specifically a power bank battery - some electricity entered my body. Usually, nothing would happen. But this time...this time something did happen.

My body stored the electricity. Spread it across the cells of my body and...empowered them!

From further experimentation I even found that once the electricity entered my body, I even had some control over it. Thus began the process of finding the most efficient way of improving my body with the electricity.

This all accumulated into me finding that revolving a sufficient amount of electricity around my body, in a specific pattern, gives the most efficient and best results.

This reminded me of one thing: Wasn't this like cultivation in those Chinese novels?

This thought became even more prevalent when a few weeks ago, my body seemed to go through a breakthrough. Now I had my own spark of 'electricity' in my body. I knew there was already bio-electricity in the body but not to this amount. The energy inside these few arcs of electricity...by my calculations, it was enough to power every electrical device in a household of four for a week or two.

Alongside this breakthrough came the ability to somehow sense the inside of my body.

This all came together to solidify what I was doing - I was cultivating. Though I don't know if this bio-electricity is Qi or something else. It holds properties of Qi as it's held in where I'm sure the Dantian is, and it has body nourishing effects but other than that, it's not very similar at all.

So, I guess I'm a pseudo-Cultivator, huh?

Bringing me from my thoughts, I felt a cold and slender hand rest on my forehead before pulling me back into a particularly large bust. Aimee leaned next to my ear and whispered, "What if I forced you to become one? You couldn't possible stop me, you know~" she teased and I just rolled my eyes while still focusing on my work.

"You wouldn't do that, Aimee," I stated, knowing that she truly wouldn't and even if she did, I could at least put up a better fight than normal humans, "You wouldn't want me to hate you, would you? Plus, the act of convincing me to do it willingly would be the best part for you, wouldn't it?" I teased back and I could practically feel her pouting as she pushed me away and back to my workbench. Told ya.

"You're no fun, Alistair...all the other humans act like scared sheep around me and my brothers," she mused as she stood up and looked around my workshop - at all the fantastical machines and designs I'd built, "Why do you have to be so clever? It'd be more fun if your were dumb," she laughed.

I chose not to answer as I really wanted to get these serums ready. Aimee had already asked about them, and I'd said that were simply medicine that I was testing to stop human wounds from becoming infected.

She had next to no scientific knowledge - no one in this era did - so she didn't suspect me of lying.

And after I used the serums? I'd just say I failed and scraped the project. What do the serums do? Well, they're meant to empower the body and reinforce the spark inside of me. Like one of those elixirs from a Xianxia novel that makes the MC more powerful just in time for an important event. It's mainly meant to put me into my next breakthrough and evolve my body.

I'll be an Evolved Human after these serums, that is. Or a High Human, if you will.

What will I do after all of this? I'm gonna fake my death and go travel the world. And by travel the world, I mean that I'm going to go and join as many wars as possible.

I live in Italy, near Rome. The Roman Empire is fully in the movement of expanding the empire at the minute...so there's no lack to the wars that are being fought at the moment. I'll go there, fight and kill for as long as it takes for me to become a complete monster at combat. Could be years, could be decades...could take centuries, but, I'm ready and honestly, I'm dying for a bit of a challenge and for some excitement in my life.

"It's nearly sunrise, Aimee - shouldn't you be out hunting or something?" I turned to see Aimee's bright red eyes looking away from me for once as she loomed over a generator I'd made a few years ago - a decent model but far too inefficient.

Her red eyes turned to me as her blonde hair was tucked behind her ears and hearing my question she shrugged, "I guess so. Well, I'll be off, Alistair. Farewell for now, dear," she said before flashing away in a stunning display of speed. Even with my enhanced reflexes, I could barely keep up with her speed. Though it did nurse my fragile human ego to know that she was particularly fast vampire - if her own words were anything to go by.

As she left, I finished tweaking the last of the syringes and I stood up before pressing a button on the wall. The corner of the workshop floor sunk down before sliding under the floor. What was left was a deep dark hole and a missing corner which was about a meter by meter square hole.

Picking up the syringes, I walked over to the hole before dropping down it. It was a 10 foot drop but it barely even put any pressure on my knees - I could most likely jump higher than 10 feet, so it was normal for my body to be able to withstand a fall of that height. Anyway, I pressed another button and the hole above me closed up before light flooded the underground lab.

It was filled with technology thousands of years ahead of it's time with one thing standing up straight in the middle of the room: A chamber.

Walking over to the chamber, I slotted the syringes into the right places before getting to setting up the chamber and the delivery devices. There were already five other syringes in the machine before I even got in here - I put them there yesterday after I finished them. These were filled with a serum I'd made which would, theoretically, push my regeneration to incredible levels. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say Wolverine-levels.

The set-up didn't take too long and I just let it all go on as I took off all my clothes before getting into the chamber.

I call it a chamber, but it was more like an iron maiden in shape. Though before I could think of anything else, the multiple needles stabbed into me. Then it all begun. It was painful - excruciatingly so.

But you know what - Humanity prevails. Always.
