Year-1/ Flying Class-1

After that day, life again return to the dull and repetitive school days. For the school's established courses, now that he has set his own future direction, Draco decided to focus on specific subjects. Practical potions, spells, and transformation courses are his focus. He decided to study harder; Astronomy class, Professor Quirrell's defense against the dark arts class, herbology class, flying classes, he was perfunctory. As for OWL and NEWT exams and future employment? Come on he has much more hard pressed matters than these exams. The advantage of being a top student is that the teacher will open some privileges, such as not having to do homework or turning a blind eye to his proxies which makes Theo and Blaise envied. There is also the admiration of his peers even from other houses. It is very important to have a good relationship with students. When doing homework, he often see people asking him for all kinds of doubts. At the same time, he is also be challenged by some people—for example, a little lion with fluffy hair.

Hermione seems to have discovered that Draco is the biggest obstacle to becoming the first in grade, so Hermione is determined to surpass him, not only to answer questions more actively in class, but also to observe how he learns so well after class. It is also a means of gaining recognition from him as a friend. So whenever Draco was sitting in the library reading a book, she always secretly observed how he learned which he found rather amusing. However, this is of no use. Draco's theoretical knowledge is already very complete. What he lacks is only practical experience and the magic power that is sufficient for him to release a stronger spell. And these two can only accumulate slowly over time, and can't be anxious. Maybe if he was the old Draco, he can enjoy this behaviour but not now. How can he as a eighteen year lad enjoy the petty jealousy of an eleven year old girl for his intellect? Obviously not.

His running and other physical exercises increase his Stamina while draining all of his magic daily increase his magic value. Although it results in severe headaches. But finally his hard work paid off. He is visibly confused by this 'Level' stat which has progressed but then he guessed that this may be related to his overall combat abilities. Flying lessons begin on Thursday-this lesson is taken with Gryffindor. The approach of this class was heavily anticipated by all students, who often told exaggerated tales of past flying achievements. Of course, you could tell that they were mostly bluffing. Draco is simply listening to their bragging with an eye roll. Not that he can complain since he was also like them at one point of time. Now he only enjoy it as a hobby which gives him a sense of freedom with thrills, away from his worries in the open sky. The boy who once naively want to be the best Quidditch player is already a war casualty in the war forgotten by everyone but him. A hand on his shoulder make him break away from his thoughts and he is met by a familiar pair of eyes which are gleaming with excitement and challenging. Blaise always has a knack for Quidditch like him and is always competing with him which mostly resulted in his loss but that did not stop him from trying again. Draco cracked a smile seeing his friends posture.

Among all the bragging first years, you could clearly see the nervous Harry, Neville, and Hermione. Harry being Harry was uncomfortable and overthinking things, like he always did. The relation between Draco and Harry wasn't good as the first day they met. In fact, they didn't even have a simple conversation ever since they got off the train. Draco didn't really care much about it since things would be better this way. Draco didn't want to get in the way of Dumbledore's plan, and with his identity as Lucius's son, being friends with Harry would be very suspicious as well as it would only get between his plans. The savior can garner all spotlight. He would be better working in the shadows till he is strong enough to bare his fangs like a true Slytherin.

On the Slytherin's table no one was nervous at all, instead, they were sharing stories of their first flight. Daphne and Pansy were chatting about their own flying experience, Blaise is among the most bragging kids and Theo was sitting there reading his book.

Their teacher, Madam Hooch, arrived. She had short, gray hair, and yellow eyes like a hawk.

"Well, what are you all waiting for?" she barked. "Everyone stand by a broomstick. Come on, hurry up."

Draco looked at the worn- out brooms and sighed, 'I really need to talk to father about this.' Dumbledore was basically spending the school fund's else were while fooling the school Governors that the school was in top condition. He didn't want to be nosy but looking at the brooms, the money is clearly being wasted somewhere else. Even though Voldemort is both their mutual enemy, Draco would never consider Dumbledore as an ally. Dumbledore has and always will be a potential enemy in Draco's mind, so funding the enemy with your own money and making the enemy stronger is the stupidest thing Draco could think of.

"Stick out your right hand over your broom," called Madam Hooch at the front, "and say 'Up!"'

"UP" everyone shouted.

From the Slytherin's side, Draco's and Pansy's broom jumped into their hands at once. Blaise could do it on the second try and Daphne was still trying her hardest. Theo being Theo did not try until Madam Hooch's screech. He really is a lazy bum who avoid every chance of exercise.

On Gryffindor's side, other than Harry whose broom jumped to his hand on the first try, the remaining were struggling to get the broom to come up in their hand. After everyone got their broom. Madam Hooch then showed them, how to mount their brooms without sliding off the end, and walked up and down the rows correcting their grips. Madam Hooch corrected Draco's posture since it was a little off. Draco didn't know why Ron and Harry were snickering at it but he just kept quiet and didn't say anything. He would like to see their expression if they knew that he has intentionally offset his posture. Madam Hooch surprisingly complimented Blaise, since his form is perfect.
