"Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick off from the ground, hard," said Madam Hooch. "Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet, and then come straight back down by leaning forward slightly. On my whistle -- three -- two --"
But Neville already nervous and jumpy frightened of being left on the ground, pushed off hard before the whistle had touched Madam Hooch's lips.
"Come back, boy!" she shouted, but Neville was rising straight up like a cork shot out of a bottle -- twelve feet -- twenty feet. Draco saw his scared white face look down at the ground falling away. He just can't comprehend the boy's IQ, well what else can he expect from a Gryffindork, atleast he has guts.
Then everyone saw Neville gasp, slip sideways off the broom and -- WHAM -- a thud and a nasty crack and Neville laid face down on the grass in a heap. His broomstick was still rising higher and higher and started to drift lazily toward the forbidden forest and out of sight. Only his crying can be heard across the ground.( Maybe not now )
Madam Hooch was bending over Neville, her face as white as his. "Broken wrist," Draco heard her mutter. "Come on, boy -- it's all right, up you get.".
She turned to the rest of the class.
"None of you is to move while I take this boy to the hospital wing! You leave those brooms where they are or you'll be out of Hogwarts before you can say 'Quidditch.' Come on, dear."
Neville, his face tear-streaked, clutching his wrist, hobbled off with Madam Hooch, who had her arm around him.
Millicent Bulstrode, a rather bulky girl in Slytherin said, "Did you see his face, the great lump?"
The other Slytherins started to laugh harder.
"Shut up, Millicent," snapped Parvati Patil.
"Ooh, sticking up for Longbottom?" said Daphne. "Never thought you'd like fat little crybabies, Parvati." Although she talk less, she still stick for the girls of her house.
Pansy quickly went to pull Daphne back, as she felt that they were getting into some misunderstanding. But it was already too late, the Slytherins were already laughing their asses off and the Gryffindor's faces were ugly.
"Wow it is really a Remembrall. Seriously Longbottom is so silly that he needs this thing, tsk tsk", Blaise said. Looking at the marble sized glass ball, though it looks intriguing but is not anything useful to him so he decided to return it to Neville's roommate who will give it to him later.
"Give that back, Zabini!" Suddenly Ron's voice echoed.
"Just going to give you back" Blaise said, not wanting to get into an argument over something like this.
"Lies." Ron raised his voice, "Don't think, I don't know about you Slytherins, you probably want to steal it."
All the Slytherins were irritated as they glared at Ron like hungry wolves.
"Do you want me to hex you, Weasely?", Pansy said angrily.
"Or I can give you your daily dose of Babbling Beverage, must be rough on you" The sarcastic comment made by Theo with his usual stoic face makes Slytherins giggle.
Seeing the situation getting worse, Hermione came in front of them, "Ronald I think he just wanted to give the Remembrall back to Neville, don't make it a big deal."
"Why are you supporting them we are all Gryffindor's, remember." Ron whose face looked ugly now glared at Hermione, "Oh! I forgot you are also a supporter of the so-called genius."
Ron has been frustrated with Draco and his friends for days now. They do everything without any consequences and they still keep getting praised for it. Ron was insecure about other Slytherin students making fun of him and his new friend Harry. And he blamed it all on Draco. Draco, yes.. he was the center of all of it. Even though he only hung out with three of his friends, he knew how every Slytherin students respected him deep inside. The Slytherins are proud that Draco was in their house like how Gryffindor's are with Harry. Even Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students are fine with Draco and they all wanted to be friends with him. Because of him... Harry was getting pressured by other students. No more like 'he' is getting suffocated by his fame and achievements. Previously he can attribute it to Malfoy's dirty money. Now faced with the harsh reality, he refused to accept it. Even though no one said anything they could feel it. They could hear people talking how the Great Harry Potter isn't anything, he is just a stupid boy with a weird scar. Harry isn't affected by this rumors instead he was glad that people's expectations of him are getting low but Ron is different. It is his time to shine with Harry being his close confidant but it is all ruined. He blame Draco, for affecting his friend's influence. The last potion class multiplied all the complains he was carrying about Draco.
Snape, their professor hated Gryffindor especially Harry but favored Draco in every way and what's more, the professor didn't need to cross a line, Draco is perfect himself. So Snape only have to throw bad comments at Gryffindor and keep praising Draco. The other person he is pissed at is Hermione, even though he didn't like her very much due to her bossy tone but seeing her act friendly with a Slytherin student made him dislike her even more. To add to the complain, Hermione's bossy tone seems to be gone in front of Draco as she spoke normally with him. This made Ron feel that Hermione is looking down on him and Harry for not being as talented as her and Draco. And today he saw one of Draco's lackey trying to steal Neville's Remembrall but even though he caught him red-handed, Hermione still seems to believe in Slytherins lies then him, a fellow Gryffindor.
"I--" Hermione wanted to say something but under the glare of other Gryffindors, she couldn't.
Draco seeing this was extremely annoyed, "Enough! Weasley." He said with a powerful tone.
"Do you think if you keep barking in front of me, I would just stand still and listen to whatever insults you throw at me and my friends. This is the last warning I will give you, Weasley; because next time I will throw you straight into the lake."
The Slytherin students impressed by Draco, stood behind him in support; glaring at Weasley with a nasty smirk. Ron seeing their faces can't help but step back a little.
Draco didn't want to waste his time on them, so he started walking away. But he stopped, hearing Harry's voice.
"Then give it back!"
Blaise gave a glare at Harry with his dark obsidian eyes, "Oh! Mr. Savior, please don't bother with us. As you probably listened to what I just said, "We will give it back to Mr. Longbottom when he comes out of the hospital." He then started walking away with the Slytherin students smirking.
"I said give it back, Malfoy." Harry said under the support of other Gryffindor's completely disregarding Blaise. He too think like other Gryffindors that Pansy, Blaise and Theo are under the shadow of Draco like other Slytherins. Harry can't just sit there while his friend is insulted. Hermione just stood there neither supporting any sides.
"Have you not taken your medicine today, Potter. Don't you see the ball is in my buddy's hand. Why are you asking me? Do you think everyone here have a sidekick like that rat behind you. Sorry to disappoint but he is my friend not my lackey. So if you want it, find the right person" Draco said smirking. He now wanted to just destroy the Remembrall to show Mr. Savior here that he and his friends aren't someone to be triffled with. But he knew Blaise can handle him pretty well.
"Then Mr. Potter how about we have a challenge." Blaise said smiling. Now this balant ignoring is really getting on his nerves so he decided to teach this ignorant boy a lesson.
"What challenge?" Harry asked getting cautious.
Theo and Pansy were surprised as well wondering what was going through the head of his.
Blaise casually threw the ball in the air and caught it, with one of his hands holding the broom, "A simple challenge, I will throw the ball high up in the air, and as it begins to fall we will both compete to catch it on our brooms, and whoever does catch it is the winner, How about it?"
Draco wanted to fight in his stead since he know how monstrous of a talent Potter has of Quidditch. This is one of his goals of his previous life to defeat him fair and square. Before Draco could speak, he felt a squeeze on his arm.
Pansy appear in front of him and said, "Trust him. I know you are worried for him but we each have our own share of battles Draco".
"You can't always protect us", Theo said coming from the side.
Draco nodded. Indeed he can't always protect them. They need some experience to hone themselves. They are brilliant wizards and he can trust them with his life.
"Mate you will be the referee. No need to go easy on me, you can count this win on me", Blaise said confidently.
Draco nodded. The Slytherin students and Gryffindor backed off a little surrounding them in a circle. Draco in the center and Harry and Blaise in each corner on their broom.
Hermione suddenly came in front of him.
"No! Draco" Hermione came in front of Draco. "I don't expect this reckless attitude from you. Madam Hooch told us not to move -- you'll get us all into trouble."
Draco looked at Hermione and said, " Hermione you have seen that I am very tolerant of Weasley's childish behaviour of picking a fight with me. But now he has done it, he really think he can do anything under Potter's halo".
'Well technically we are children' Hermione mused.
"But you can't stoop to his level" Hermione still persuaded him even though she herself is irritated by Ronald's antics.
"Too late" is the only reply she get. She sighed, well atleast she try unlike her peers.
Saying that he floated up and stopped in mid-air. He threw the ball in his hand high in the air, then he spun in nearly 90-degree angle hitting the falling ball with the tail of his broom shooting it high up in the air.
"Go" He shouted and both Blaise and Harry shot up in the air.
Getting off from his broom, Draco muttered something in Theo's ear. After getting a nod from him, he came forward. Many eyes are scrutinizing his movements, especially Gryffindors.
As soon as Draco's voice fell, both Blaise and Harry shot forward with their greatest speed. Although Harry has talents in flying but he still lacks experience. Blaise took advantage of the gap with his nimble movements and came in between the ball and Harry. He has clearly expected a swift victory but not that Potter will crash on him and the ball left his hands.
Blaise clench his teeth in frustration. He clearly thinks Potter has played foul. Before he can lash out at him, he heard a familiar voice.
"Accio Neville's Remembrall"
The ball reached the hands of one Theodore Nott who has a stoic look on his face but his friends know that he is pissed.
He said indifferently: "Who is Neville's roommate? Can you help me return this memory ball to him?"
Ron stood up angrily and said, "I am, I and Harry are both!"
Theo tossed the memory ball gently. Ron didn't expect him to return the memory ball so easily. He couldn't react to it for a while, and he caught the memory ball in a hurry. There was another ridicule from the sidelines, and Ron's entire face turned red. Theo ignored Ron's embarrassment, looked at the two people who were still flying in the air, and said indifferently: "You two are not coming down yet? I saw Professor McGonagall walking towards here…"
Professor McGonagall came over and saw Blaise and Harry flying privately. She deducted 10 points from each house, but after hearing about Theo's handling of the matter, she just added 10 points for Slytherin. This made all the little wizards of Gryffindor, especially Hermione who obeyed the rules showing dissatisfied expressions at Harry's behavior.
Clearly Draco had instructed Theo to do this at his signal. He can count many reasons for this. First of all, he as repeatedly challenged by Harry and Ron cannot back down or prevent this match. With this move, Blaise already won inspite of a draw. Secondly he wanted Theo to be recognized in his house because of his reserve nature. Blaise is already popular because of his upbeat personality while Pansy and Daphne are already leaders of first year Slytherin girls. While for him, he just get unwanted attention. Sometimes he wish he can swap his position with Theo. Thirdly, he wanted to punish Potter by depriving of his position in Quidditch team. He was already keeping an eye for the arrival of Professor McGonagall. No one knows that Harry lost the opportunity to become the youngest seeker in Hogwarts history. As they say, nothing is as sweet as revenge.
