Trivial Affairs

[ Third Person POV ]

Marine Fleet

Sengoku and Garp continued looking on as they saw the silver haired individual make his leave in the distance. They were both shocked at how cordial the man was, unlike the other pirate who had escaped amidst the chaos. Had it not been for the fact that Garp and Sengoku being among the fleet, it was obvious that the fleet wouldn't be returning to Headquarters in such fine condition.

Sengoku's decision to let Boris leave was quite strategical on his part. At this current point of time, they couldn't afford to pick a fight with Whitebeard. Not when they were currently having a World Conference, moreover, the consequences could be irreperable should they lose to him. It just wasn't worth it at this current point of time. However, this wouldn't be the status quo forever, there would be a point of time where Whitebeard and Boris would get old.

A transponder snail could be heard ringing before a soldier picked it up and answered. After a few seconds of introduction, the marine's back stiffened before he quickly rushed to Sengoku and handing the transponder snail to him; it was Kong.

"This is Fleet-Admiral Kong. Report your status"

"This is Admiral Sengoku, we are currently retreating back to HQ"

"What of the pirates? Were you able to complete the mission?" Kong asked.

"No, unfortunately, there were too many variables within the battle that we ended up having to retreat to ensure the safety of the men."

"What of Roger and Shiki?"

"Our attempts were interrupted when Boris attacked us."

"Boris?"

"That was the name that Shiki gave to the Storm Dragon of the Whitebeard Pirates."

There was silence coming from the other end of the line. It was a well known secret that the World Government had been going out of their own way to find any information about Boris. However, nobody really knew anything specific about him, and the ones that did often refused to say anything out of pettiness; people like Charolette.

Getting his name wasn't much, but it wasn't nothing at the same time. If anything, this could be seen as a first step to approaching that goal. It would take quite a bit of time considering the fact that Boris wasn't one to go out of his way to cause trouble. However, all good things came to those who waited.

Kong sighed quietly and chatted a bit more with Sengoku before hanging up. Knowing that the fleet that he had sent on that mission was returning without any deaths was a miracle in itself. they needed as much forces as they could so that they could bring the other members of the alliance to Mariejois for the World Conference. This would be taking place in about four days, more than enough time to have Sengoku and Garp back to base.

On the other hand, Sengoku hung up the transponder snail in frustration. It was rare for him too fail a mission, it simply hurt his pride as an Admiral. However, the consequences of following through with the mission was just too much for the World Government to bare. Garp, who had stole another one of Sengoku's snacks, snuck to the back of the ship and sat on a chair provided by one of his subordinates and promptly enjoyed it. He was still grumpy over the fact that he had to avoid combat not once, but twice. This frustration increased by the fact that Garp still wasn't able to catch Roger.

Flying Pirates base

A bloody Shiki could be seen soaring through the clouds and approaching a floating island base. The Golden Lion's mood was absolutely foul, and this was all thanks to that damn bastard Boris.

He recalled exactly what had happened for things to go off the rails like it did.

Shiki was chasing Roger after hearing some rather interesting news about some weapons. Not just any weapons, but world devastating weapons to boot. Shiki was infatuated, having those weapons along with a subordinate like Roger by his side would make him basically closer to being the Strongest in the World.

This was an oppurtunity that Shiki would be damned if he missed, as a result he chased Roger deep into the New World. He had gathered his entire fleet just for the operation of catching the Roger Pirates. However, the Roger Pirates retaliated hard against the fleet; this gave the Golden Lion Pirates quite the hard time when fighting them.

Shiki thought Roger had given up when the Oro Jackson had anchored mid-way. The route that the Roger Pirates had taken was dangerously close to the Whitebeard's territory. It wouldn't have been shocking to find the likes of Boris, Whitebeard's lapdog, sniffing around. However, Shiki simply didn't care.

Well, he didn't until he heard an explosion coming from the rear of the Golden Lion Pirate's fleet. He was fighting Roger at the time, and he couldn't afford to look away from the fight. However, he used part of his Observation Haki to look into the situation just to see if there was any potential threat to his fleet.

Sure enough, it turned out that Boris started a fight with the Marines who were trying to launch a surprise attack on them.

Frustrated, Shiki started to add more offensive pressure on Roger so that he could break his guard. However, Roger instead deflected those attacks and started inflicting minor injuries on Shiki before ultimately kicking Shiki down to the sea. By then the sea had began churning for the worst, a storm could be sensed on the horizon.

Shiki needed to think quickly if he needed to maintain the situation and achieve his goals. However, it kept getting more out of hand the more time passed. It simply reached a point where he could do nothing but watch as his fleet started sinking one by one.

Shiki was furious, leading him to do the things he did during the battle. He thought by taking that brat hostage could have incentivized Boris to join him. This only brought more harm to his own self than it did to Boris. It was an embarrassing loss on his part, one that he wouldn't be forgetting anytime soon.

He landed on his base, and quickly went to tend to his wounds. He needed to re-evaluate his plans to catch Roger again. He would be leaving Boris for future plans.
