The house felt unnaturally empty despite there being hours where Len wasn't around before. A sense of something lacking filled the surrounding as I trudged over to the sofa in the otherwise monotonous room.
I reached for my phone, thinking to fill the silence with a distraction when it slipped from my fingers just as I picked it up. I glanced at my hands, noticing how they were trembling after weeks of being wrapped in a cast.
I shook my head as I unconsciously smiled, my thoughts drifting back to Len's serious expression as he tirelessly tended to my bandages. I decided then and there to give it another shot before I reached for my phone once more— this time succeeding in lifting it onto the palm of my less dominant hand.
