DARK MAGIC

Wendy was filled with thoughts, every time she would think of that voice,the mark on her neck would feel tingly.She had looked at herself on the mirror this morning and what she just saw confused her a lot. Every time she would look on the mark on the mirror,it would give off a faint golden glow.

This made her to ask herself if everyone who has undergone a breakthrough has this same marking. Something about this power and the voice was making her nervous. She could feel the power causing through her veins and she felt somehow full of energy and stronger.

'This power can't even be held by a wand?'She thought as she looked at her palm. Her eyes widened as she saw nothing there but just blood with no wound. She was sure that when the wand shattered,she was cut by a piece of it,but now,there was nothing at all.

"Intermediate tier materials aren't that easy to break. They are even stronger than any strong natural materials from Earth,maybe diamond and gold. But this power just broke it with no problem. If it keeps on breaking my wands and maybe even my staff,what am I then supposed to use to activate my mana?'

'Or maybe...'She held out her hand and opened up her palm wide.' Let me try to activate one of my skills.'The dark smoke formed like a ball,and when it disappeared,a ball of swirling water appeared hovering just above her palm.'I...I...Can perform magic without a wand,wait a minute...I also didn't chant,I just thought of it.'

Excitement was filling her as she felt like screaming all about. But then her face dropped.' Does that mean that this alpha tier staff is now... useless?'

'I think I need to see that yellow head...I Mean ...Lenny,yeah,Lenny and see what he can do about it.'She prepared to leave,just then, someone touched her on the shoulder.

"Leaving so soon?"Hellen asked as they shortly hugged."Yes,I need to see Lenny. I think I now need a weapon,since this staff is now useless."

Hellen was confused. She had seen the power this staff on topic firsthand,and now it's being called useless. It had even burnt many intermediate and advanced tier beasts to nothing."What the hell do you mean?"

"After that breakthrough,I now realise that I can perform magic skills without the aid of a wand or staff or chants."Wendy said in excitement.

"Hold on."Hellen said as she stretched her hands outwards as if stopping someone."I don't know what you are talking about. Even the greatest wizards and witches who have undergone countless breakthroughs still require wands and staffs to use their magic."

"I think it has something to do with that marking. And if that's the case,many will chase you and try to study that unique power you now have,so I think it's better you cover up that marking —"Hellen stopped mid sentence.

"What's wrong Hellen?"Wendy asked. She had come to learn that when this smart girl suddenly went quite like this in an explanation,she was always about to say something horrible,and that's just what Hellen said.

"Wendy,there is something horrible about this."She almost whispered. They quickly asked for permission to leave from Eugene and they were granted. Hellen was pulling Wendy by the hand as she paced towards the school library."Where are you taking me?!"Wendy asked in resistance.

"Shut up and follow me!"They soon got to the library,where they could only see the very very top ceiling roof inside of the tall cylindrical building. On the walls were countless number of books. "Sit here."Hellen said as she gestured at a table that had two seats opposite each other. Wendy complied as Hellen went of to the counter where there was a dwarf with spherical specs larger that its face.

Hellen soon returned with a giant book and banged it on the table. At the center of the table was a small blue globe. They each placed a hand on it and began speaking. This globe helped to stop any noise from the two,and only making it able for each of them to hear the other as long as they touched the globe.

"Why did you bring me here?"Wendy asked already running out of patience."And are you planning to memorize that book?"

"No."Hellen began."I need you to know something,and please pay attention."

Hellen opened the book with her other hand and began reading it. At first,Wendy was bored,but then she got quickly intrigued.

The book explained that,there was a war that broke out,and it took place on Earth. This was the first ever war,to occur and it was before any other conflicts between the races. This war itself was unique, because it included none of the races,but gods. It was unknown why they were fighting,but one thing was clear,that this war would definitely destroy Earth If it continued.

At the time,the races were under one Brunner,and one ruler,Emperor Ng'ang'a. When Earth was sent to a dire need,a young man walked to the throne to meet the emperor. He had a proposal,and it was to help Earth as long as it fulfills his desires.The man sounded like the devil in patience. He said that he needed acceptance ,and since the emperor didn't understand what he really meant,he thought of the young man as a fool.Many would ask for wealth and power,but this one asked for acceptance,so he agreed to it.

None of the races knew how he did it,but the war had stopped that day when the deal was struck. Ever since,no one ever saw that person ever again. It passed ten whole years of peace,but something happened. A large number of the people went on a breakthrough at the same time,and mysteriously their aura turned dark,and they called it dark magic.A powerful version of the other common magic,so they began training others.

Emperor Ng'ang'a saw no threat on this,until each and every day,a person who had the dark aura would become mad and turn to zombies and feast on others. It continued for a whole month with others getting the dark magic and later turning to zombies,that the emperor got the practice of this magic banned.

Each and everyone who had this magic was caught and executed,and as a result, the number of dark magic usage decreased,but it would be heard that some people here and there received the dark magic. This brought on the bounty on them.

Wendy was shocked and worried by this news."The biggest confusion is,why hasn't the man acted yet,after the emperor broke the deal?And another question still lies on us,is he responsible for the dark magic?"Hellen added.

'Is that why that voice sounded angry when it mentioned about Earth.Is that man from the story the one that spoke to me?'Wendy thought.'But I now have the dark magic too,will I turn into a zombie?'

"And that is why you need to keep your power a secret. Don't forget that Mars is a place owned by Earth,so they would learn of you and start hunting you."

Their conversation continued,and later they were leaving the library. To their surprise,there were posters everywhere, something they did not see when they came to the library. On approaching one that was on the wall of the library,they were again surprised to read what it said.
