BREAKTHROUGH

Hellen had rolled back avoiding the wild swings from Maya,but Caleb and Wendy who were battling nearby were not lucky as they were hit and sent crashing on the ground. Dust filled the surrounding blocking everyone's view. But as the dust shifted,Krad and Maya locked eyes.

Maya gave a smirk before the dust covered Krad's view,and when the dust moved out again,she was nowhere to be seen. Krad turned his head to all sides trying to find her. Just then he bent backwards avoiding a swing from the red club that blew all the dust away.

*Fire fist*

Krad's whole right arm was covered in flames as he swung it behind the club. It successfully hit as flames erupted every direction and the club had shattered into tiny red particles floating in the air. Krad then did a spin and kicked Maya's hand that had been holding on the club. She was off balance as she was met with another kick in the stomach and sent crashing back.

'I see you got some skills.'Hellen said from the side as both of her fists cotted with a pink substance hit Krad in the chin as pink aura burst all over. His head flung back and then he fell on the ground."Now who's the last one standing? Me!"She laughed hysterically like a villain celebrating a quick victory.

"Wrong!"Krad did a quick spin off the ground as he reactivated the fire fist skill and stood strong.'I need to focus.'Pointing both of his palms at her,the flames began swirling and a large ball of fire was made.It then shot out at an incredible speed leaving a line of flames behind it. Hellen reacted by quickly forming a pink wall in front of her,but the fire ball shattered it as it slightly slowed down but successfully hit Hellen sending her crashing back with the flames extinguishing.

Krad fell on the ground knees first, then with his face. He was sweating like crazy,but smiled at what he had seen when he produced the fire ball attack.

Suddenly he could hear screams from the side,and on tilting his head,he could see Wendy on her knees. Her face was showing the intense pain she was going through.'What is happening to her?'Krad thought in a worried look. That's when he remembered that his inspect skill could also tell the state of something . *Inspect*

[STATE;Going through a power breakthrough]

He was surprised to see this. He remembered Hellen explaining that after some time of more magic practice,a person should undergo a breakthrough. Hellen,who was by Wendy's side quickly went up to her to check on her. Soon everyone else was there.

"Now what's happening?"Caleb asked."Can someone say something?"

"Don't you know,she is going on a power breakthrough. What I don't know is what happens when someone is on this process. I've never seen anyone on breakthrough before."

Wendy's screams lowered,but something on her caught the eyes of the gang. On her neck on the left side,a golden glow could be seen. Soon they heard a hissing sound as if that part was burning.When the light died down,they could all see a dark marking. A single eyeball with a sharp vertical eye pupil and a wing at each side."What is that tattoo supposed to mean?"Maya asked.

The others kept silent not really knowing what hard just happened.Never in their lives have they ever seen anything like this. Wendy slowly stood up from the ground holding her head. It felt heavy and she could feel something unfamiliar as she held the particular part of her neck with the tattoo.

"What. happened?"She asked while Krad helped her to stand up. They explained everything to her,and she was equally confused. But a smile appeared on her,she had reached one of her goals,to go through a power breakthrough. After some time they left the area as they needed to eat and then get some sleep.

All that night Krad was worried. When Wendy was going through the process,he sensed an overwhelming power radiating from the marking on her neck. When he tried to use his inspect skill, nothing happened. His system wasn't working at all. And his fear became real when hee tried to activate one of his skill while close to Wendy,and nothing happened.

"Was that some kind of ability block power?"Krad thought while still on his bed."If that's the case,then it would be both an advantage and a disadvantage in the future. How will we be meant to fight close to each other when she unknowingly blocks our powers?"He was even unable to activate or receive any notification from the system of activating his energy resistant skill.

"I now understand that the system is somehow my weakness also. If it gets blocked,I won't be able to activate any skill. I need to find a solution as soon as possible. I need to train myself to activate my skills without the aid of the system."

The following day classes continued as normal.In the elemental class,all students were shocked while looking at a particular person. Eugene was in a complete daze a single line of sweat ran down his forehead as he looked at the student standing in the middle.'Did she...go on a breakthrough...but why would that damn god select her as one of her disciples?'

'Why are they looking at me like that?'Wendy thought as she was still on a stance as if she had already performed a great feat.'They should understand that this is another level of magic.Right?'

"Why was her magic aura dark in colour?"A student whispered to the other.

"I have no idea."The other replied."If I remember correctly,she used to produce a white magic aura."They continued to whisper and Wendy was getting nervous at this.

"Ehem,Wendy,would you mind doing that again?"Eugene asked as he now observed keenly.

'What shall I do?'Wendy wondered as she held out her tiny wand. She thought that keeping her staff a secret would be the better thing to do. On a closer look,the crystal like wand had several cracks on it. She activated her mana and began to produce her magic aura externally. It was like a dark smoke coming from all over the wand as it shook wildly and the cracks became many and shattered falling on the ground in many pieces.

'Is my magic powerful that an intermediate tier wand can't handle it?'Not only that,the dark smoke was now leaving her hand as the mark on her neck began to glow in a bright golden colour.'What is happening to me?'Wendy thought as she was loosing control of her own powers.'Cancel...cancel...cancel!'

The dark smoke covered her whole body and she was loosing her senses. She collapsed on the floor and all she could see was darkness and nothing else. She couldn't feel any part of a body,just a familiar energy to hers but stronger radiating from every side.

"Young girl."A voice resounded from all sides.

"Who—who are you?"Wendy asked as she tried to locate where the voice was coming from.

"That doesn't matter."The deep heavy voice continued."I don't have much time here.What you need to know is that when you were in the breakthrough process,I personally gave you a fraction of my powers,this you must keep secret or else anyone who knows will die. You need to know that very soon,I,Immortui,will be coming, particularly,for Earth."

She soon felt like everything was rotating as she regained her senses.

In the real world,what Eugene and the students could see was the dense dark aura pouring from her body and shifting on the floor as if it was alive. The mark on her neck was already glowing brighter as she sweat buckets. She soon woke up and did not tell anyone what she had just heard.

'Was that a warning,was it supposed to be a threat?'Wendy thought completely ignoring everyone.'Whoever that person was,he did not sound like he was preparing for a surprise comeback party for Earth.And to add the salt on the wound,he sounded angry and is sure to kill anyone I tell about this. I better keep it to myself.'

"Wendy, Wendy,Wendy..."All this time when she was deep in her thoughts, Eugene had been calling out her name."Are you okay?"

She nodded in response."No,you need to see principal Frank."

"Why should I see that—?"Wendy stopped mid sentence with a deep grimace on her face.'They no nothing of what this so called Frank will do.'She thought.

"Do you need a break?"Eugene asked again. Wendy was pleased as she stood up and went to sit on the corner of the hall. Same to the combat hall,this one also had no seats.

'I think that marking on her is not a good sign.' Eugene thought as he became even more worried.
