Lost love

When I had taken the drink and paid for it, I started home.

I silently prayed that Diana would be okay when I reached home. It would be bad if she was celebrating sick with me.

I got in and parked by her car. At least she had not gone anywhere. I could see my brother's car which told me he was here.

When I entered, I didn't call her name as I wanted to catch her off guard while she slept so I crept up the stairs silently.

This was going to be fun, I told myself, but I was wrong.

When I reached the door, I heard moaning just as my heart flipped.

I couldn't tell if she was having a sexual encounter with someone or just watching a movie. Either way, the sound was too loud to be from a television.

There was only one way to find out.

I threw open the door, walking in to find a man dancing with no clothes on him. Diana was cheating on me with my own brother!

"What is going on here?!" I yelled, getting the two of them to stop what they were doing and turn to me.

I was shocked to see them sitting on the bed while drawing the covers to their chest.

The wine bottle fell from my hand, shattering as I slowly walked to the middle of the room.

"You were supposed to be at work," she said calmly.

"How could you, Ron?!" I yelled. "With my own wife?!"

"I can…" but before he could say anything, I cut him off with a yell.

"Don't you lie to me!" I screamed before he could defend himself. "And Diana. You said you were sick. I had to be out there doing your job. Going for meetings that I wasn't supposed to be going for. I did all of this for us!"

I turned to look at the girl who had a dirty smirk on her face.

"And you are supposed to be my wife," I sighed. "To be honest, Diana, I don't even know what to say. How could you? Why? Have I wronged you in any way? Why would you decide to use him as my replacement?"

"I'm not your replacement," he said with a defensive tone which had me scoffing.

"Then try explaining what you're doing in bed with my wife. A woman who is literally married to your brother. What? Are we sharing the same woman now? Is that it?

I immediately knew this was not the first this was happening. This was a regular occurrence.

"No, no, no," I gasped. "You two have been sleeping together for some time I see."

Ron wore his briefs before standing up to face me. He wasn't the least bit remorseful.

"Listen to me…" he said as I raised a finger to stop him from speaking. I had listened to enough lies.

"Don't you dare try to lie to me," I growled in anger. "Do you know what you've done? You've ruined everything we had together. And I thought you were a family."

"I am still your brother. I just wanted to relieve myself and your wife was there so we did it."

He said it so casually that I knew the both of them had been sleeping with each other for some time.

"And you couldn't go to a whore house?! You could have called someone else! I sleep on the same bed with her! How long have you been sleeping with my wife?"

"I don't want you to be like that, Kane," he sighed, getting closer to me.

"How long?!" a growl left my throat as he stopped in his tracks to look away from me.

"Since the day I first met your wife."

This meant he had been sleeping with her even before we got married.

I couldn't take it anymore so I ran out of the room and entered my car.

I was not going to deal with this. I needed to get out of here.

I would not stay in that place that made me cry.

I drove to a hotel with the attendants looking at me like I was crazy due to my drooping face but I didn't care. I was just here for the room.

I paid for the room, grabbed the keys and went to the room to cry my eyes out.

For hours while I laid in bed, all I could think about was the pain which hurt me deeply.

I got out my ring and placed it on the table. This marriage was finally over.

***

Ron and Diana really slept with each other and treated me like nothing. Did he really cheat on me? I couldn't believe that my own wife had treated me like I didn't matter.

Why would they do that? Everything I did was for them. Why would they do this to me?

How could they do that?

The sun was blinding me from the windows while simultaneously notifying me that it was morning. This had me awake as I stared at the ceiling with the events of the other day causing me to cry out tears.

How could Ron do this to me? After all I had done for him. I was so mad at everything that had happened that I could only groan in the pillow and wish him the worst. I wished he would fall off the stairs. Who did he think he was?

And my own brother? To think we had grown up together and he would see me as his elder brother and respect me but instead he had decided that he would cheat on me. That was something I could not understand. I couldn't wait to give him a piece of my mind.

At some point I started to beat myself up for being so stupid that I would run away from the responsibility of fighting for my own home.

Why would I do such a thing? I was to stay there and fight for what was rightfully mine.
