Halloween Part II

Davenport eyed the object on his table. "What is that?"

"Oh, see, this is called a flashdrive."

Davenport seethed.

"I know what it is, I meant what's inside."

"Video footage. David installed a hidden camera in our living room to keep an eye on the kids. I copied all the files into the drive. I'm sure you'll find something."

"Wow, Amanda, thank you."

"You can thank me by making sure this son of a bitch suffers for everything he's done."

"It could be a girl."

"Ehn, I doubt it."

"Yeah me too. Well, whoever it is, I'm gonna catch 'em."

She raised an eyebrow "You mean you and Giovani are gonna catch 'em?"

"That's what I said."

"No, that is absolutely not what you said."

Bruce rolled his eyes. Here we go again. He knew what she was getting at.

"You're not in this alone, you and Giovani are a team. You can't keep carrying this hero compl—"

"I do not have a hero complex."

Everyone knew he did, that's why he could be a bit overzealous sometimes.

He was in denial, but she knew better than to argue with him.

"Just be careful, ok? I love you guys dearly. I lost Robert and now David. I can't lose you guys too."

PARK

"I'm waiting." Paul stared at them.

"Nothing! Nothing's going on." said Macy, but her nervous laugh told him otherwise.

"It's obvious you're hiding something from her."

Alex intervened.

"We can't tell you."

"Why not?"

"Because if we do, you'll run to tell Camila. You're terrible at keeping secrets."

Paul glared at them.

"Hey, I can keep secrets."

"Really? Remember the seventh grade, when I drew a large butt on Troy Barella's table? Troy just asked you for an eraser and you confessed everything!"

Alex bristled as he remembered the painful betrayal.

"And then he beat the shit out of me!"

"Well....ok, you got me, but still, is this secret really that bad?"

"Oh look! Here comes our dear friend Larry!"

Alex pointed enthusiastically at Larry, eager to change the subject.

"Guys!" Larry, dressed as Levi Ackerman beamed at his friends and girlfriend. "What's going on?"

"We're just waiting for Mia, why is she always so late?" asked Alex, annoyed.

Before Macy could answer, they heard a truck's horn.

"Oh, that must be the coffin with the animatic!"

"I'll go get Camila and Kai!" said Paul, taking off.

PARK

Kai and Camila had walked some distance away from their friends.

"Ok, listen." he said. "The other day, some dude was brought to the ER. I attended to him and he looked really familiar. It was Julian. He's back in town."

She sighed.

"I know. I caught him stalking me and Paul yesterday. I bet he's here right now watching us!"

Kai looked around.

"Paul, does he know?"

"No, he doesn't even know I used to date him!"

"Well are you gonna tell him?"

"Do I have a choice? Of course I will. Just not yet."

"What do you mean?"

"If I can make Julian stay away from us, then Paul doesn't have to know."

Kai chuckled.

"Yeah, because that always works. Why don't you just tell him?"

Camila sighed. "I just don't want him to be jealous. I love him, and what I had with Julian is dead, I'm afraid he won't understand that."

"Look Cami, you guys love each other. I see it, the whole town sees it. He'll understand. But you'll have to explain why nobody besides me knew about your relationship, though."

"You're right." She smiled up at him.

"Thanks for always saying the right thing."

Kai pulled her into a hug.

"You can always count on me."

They jumped away when they heard footsteps approaching.

Paul stopped a few feet away from them, trying to catch his breath.

"Guys! I've been looking everywhere for you. The Dracula coffin is here. Let's go!"

He turned around with another burst of childish energy and started running back to the party.

Kai smiled at Camila sheepishly.

"So, uh, handshakes and fist bumps from now on?"

Camila smiled and rolled her eyes before they went back to the festivities.

POLICE STATION

Amanda had just left after promising to keep in touch.

As soon as she left, Bruce Davenport grabbed the flashdrive and connected it to his laptop, it had a lot of files but he easily found the clip of the night David Cress was murdered and clicked on it.

He saw David walking in, taking out his phone from his pocket.

The lights went off and everything went black, a second later, the camera's night vision was automatically activated. He saw the Slayer, and the ensuing fight.

Davenport had to force his eyes to stay open as he watched his friend get killed. The Slayer just stood there, watching David die.

Jesus Christ.

No clue about the identity. But now he knew how The Slayer dressed.

He called Giovani.

"Hey Bruce, did you find anything?"

"Yes, it's a long story but I know what The Slayer wears.

Black boots, gloves, trousers, a jacket with a hoodie.....and a Guy Fawkes mask. Hello? Giovani, whoa, what's going on over there?"

"I'll call you back in a minute!"

Giovani yelled over the growing commotion in the background.

He hung up. Davenport sighed and hoped that it was just kids being noisy.

PARK

The crowd left the other festivities and gathered in front of the coffin, which was placed in a vertical position against a wall.

The final show of the festival was that the the automated Dracula would walk out and scare everyone.

Alex approached Macy.

"Still no sign of Mia?"

Macy shook her head.

"Ok, well, you should keep the show going. I'll try calling her."

Alex dialed Mia's number while Macy stepped forward and stood next to the coffin, ready to open it.

"Ok, kids, ready?"

Everyone cheered.

"Meet Count Dracula!"

She opened the coffin.

But instead of cheers, there were screams as kids ran away.

She looked down just as a bloody body with multiple stab wounds fell out of the casket and hit the ground with a thud.

A woman.

"Oh my God!!" Macy screamed as she instantly recognized the bloody blonde on the floor.

Alex stood there frozen. It felt like his entire body had shut down. He crumpled to the ground.

"No..."

There was pandemonium as people pushed and shoved each other to get out of the park.

Giovani had just hung up and had to plow his way through the crowd to the main focus of the commotion.

Sara checked the body just for the sake of it, but the ugly stab wounds and gouged-out eyeballs already told her Mia Larsson was dead.

Larry called 911 in a shaky voice as Giovani called Davenport and kicked everyone out, which was redundant since the crowd already wanted to get away from the park.

In just a few minutes, the paramedics and the police arrived.

The park was now almost empty and there was absolute silence.

The atmosphere was charged when Macy screamed

and pointed at something.

Everyone turned to see a man dressed in black, wearing a mask and holding a bloody knife.
