Halloween Part I

The Halloween party was a complete success.

Children, teenagers, adults, even grandparents came to have some fun in a very promising event, which was taking place in the park.

It was like a festival, with games, a haunted house, music and a real feel-good atmosphere.

Exactly what Macy, Mia and the other organisers were aiming for.

Macy, who was dressed as a witch, was looking over everything when Alex approached her with Izzy in tow.

"Hey, Macy."

"Woah." she grinned, looking at their customes.

"Love your costumes."

Alex was dressed as Timmy Turner, Izzy was dressed as Frankenstein.

"Where's Mia?" asked Izzy.

"She sent a text saying she'd arrange to bring a coffin where we'll put a life-sized Dracula doll."

"That's great. This party is going to rock."

Izzy spotted her friends waving her over.

"Later, losers."

"So...." Macy arched an eyebrow, watching the 14year old walk away.

"Are you going to tell her?"

She asked, referring to the recently-discovered relationship.

"No. Not now, losing mom was already too much. I don't want my sister being weird over this."

"Do you think Mr Glavas will come?"

Alex nodded "He should. But I doubt Mr. Glavas will come and face me."

"Why?" said someone behind him.

Alex and Macy turned around to see Paul and -more importantly- Camila, who was standing there with a concerned look on her face.

POLICE STATION

"So, Bruce," said Giovani, walking in already in costume "What will be your costume?"

Davenport was sitting in his desk. "I'm not going." he said, never taking his eyes off the papers on his desk.

Giovani rolled his eyes.

"What the hell are you wearing, anyway?" asked Davenport, pointing at him.

"I am Sherlock Holmes." replied Giovani.

"And you expect me to dress like Watson, right? Hell no. I'm staying here because, unlike you, I'm serious with my job." he replied.

"Come on, live a little."

Davenport rolled his eyes and decided to change the subject.

Davenport rolled his eyes and decided to change the subject.

"I can't stop thinking about what Clarke said."

The poison that Paul and Macy ate wasn't rat poison, it was 2C-I, the same thing that killed Martha Stark.

Sara thought it was a different poison because the effects were faster, but it turns out the Slayer administered the right dosage, if the poisoned duo had gone five minutes without treatment, they would've died on the spot.

Clarke was released as soon as the results were out but his words after he was thrown into the cell still spooked Davenport.

"I'm praying that doesn't happen."

PARK

"So?" asked Camila. "Are you going to tell me why my father has to face you?"

Alex and Macy exchanged nervous looks.

"Oh my God! What are you hiding from me?" she exclaimed.

"Calm down, Cami." said Paul, who was by her side and sensed that she was about to go into panic mode.

"It's probably nothing to worry about."

"Uh, well..." started Macy.

"Hey, guys." Kai bounced over to them, oblivious to the building tension.

"Nice costumes."

Camila was dressed as Catwoman, Paul was the Batman.

"What's with yours?" asked Camila gesturing at his Doctor costume.

"What? I haven't got my degree yet, so a doctor counts."

Camila narrowed her eyes.

"You just didn't wanna spend money on a costume."

Kai smirked.

"You got me."

She rolled her eyes.

"You literally have your parents' whole inheritance which we all know is a shitload of money."

"I'm saving that for medical school!" Kai shot back.

"Anyway, is Sara coming?"

Macy asked.

"Yeah, she's already here actually, in the haunted house. Anyway..." He turned to Camila. "I was hoping I could talk to you for a minute."

He turned to Paul. "You don't mind, do you?"

"Of course not." Paul answered.

They walked away.

Alex and Macy sighed in relief.

Then they realized Paul was staring at them, his arms crossed and a serious expression on his face.

"What the hell is going on?"

POLICE STATION

Davenport started looking through the files of The Slayer all over again to see if he had missed something, but there was absolutely nothing.

He groaned and leaned his head back against his office chair and closed his eyes.

"Bruce."

He swiveled around to face the door, startled to see David's wife standing by the door.

"Amanda."

40yrs ago, Bruce Davenport, Robert Diaz, Giovani Grande and David Cress became best friends with a very rough girl.

Amanda Newport-Cress was practically a second mother to the four detectives, they'd known her long before they even begun to dream of a career in law enforcement.

In middle school, she was the tomboy who would stand by their side and fight bullies with them.

Fast forward to high school, she ditched her overalls, started wearing skirts and suddenly her four best friends were drooling at the sight of her.

They even got to the stage of physically fighting over who had the right to ask her out.

Eventually David's polite, gentlemanly demeanor worked for him and they became a couple.

Despite the initial grumpiness, his three friends were happy and moved on.

David and Amanda eventually got married and had three kids.

"Please have a seat." She shuffled towards one of the chairs in front of him and sat. "How you holding up?"

She smiled.

"I'm alright."

He knew that was a lie. The red eyes and downcast expression that couldn't be hidden even with her smile proved it.

"Is Giovani here?"

"No, he's at some dumb Halloween party."

"Let me guess, he's dressed as Sherlock Holmes."

He chuckled "Yeah."

"And you're not going because you're boring?"

"I'm a career-driven individual."

"Is that police-code for 'I don't have a social life?'?"

He glared at her.

"Bitch."

She rolled her eyes. "Dumbass. I won't miss your attitude, that's for sure."

He frowned.

"What do you mean? Are you leaving?"

She nodded.

"I can't stay in this town any more. Everything reminds me of him and it's probably even worse for the kids..."

"I understand. And you don't have to explain. Just do what's best for your kids."

"Thank you. But there's another reason I came here."

She opened her purse and pulled out a flashdrive.
