Chapter 5: A Visit to UA

With properly defined terms of Good and Evil, we can now define Hero and Villain. Admittedly, we have all, at some point in our lives, done some sort of selfish or evil act. That is entirely human. This of course does not mean that everyone is a villain. It is the same with heroism. Giving to a charity but having no clue about what your money is being used does not make you a hero. In the same way, however, someone who actively uses their Image to grow the abilities of a charity or individual such as Heroes like Gang Orca, Uwabami, and Native. These heroes can be described as heroes despite Gang Orca's presence being largely dominated by sea rescues without many recorded land appearances. Uwabami's meager rescue participation still recorded millions of dollars in charity donations in the last year to women's shelters while making appearances at children's hospitals and providing much of her product line at cost to hospitals and shelters. Lastly, Don't forget the political advocacy for those of Native American heritage living in Japan represented by the dual profession Hero/Lawyer, that is Native. Each of them is a hero for specific groups of people that need assistance. The other side of the coin is much the same. Here is a hypothetical to think about: A father turns to crime to provide for their family. Traditionally, quirk use would define this man as a villain if a crime was committed while using his quirk, his actions have Good intentions but harm another and are therefore Evil. But the man is no villain that is for sure. A criminal maybe but it is time to redefine the meaning of Villain in this case. No mass murder or felled buildings. But a hypothetical scenario where a father with an invisibility quirk steals a gallon of milk for his family would suffer nearly three times the sentence due to quirk usage in the courts of Japan.

A new definition is necessary to identify the greater Evils that are present in our society. Because without them we fail to differentiate the petty crime from the monstrous Evil that are villains such as Stain, Toxic Chainsaw, and the greatest Japanese supervillain of them all, All for One who systematically killed nearly 125,000 individuals before his death so many years ago. It is entirely unfair to classify every individual as a villain which would leave them juxtaposed against the most evil people since the Dawn of Quirks.

The Anime and Manga emphasized how large the main UA gates are but seeing them in person is completely different. I don't really understand why, but it is intimidating. Especially when I am the only one here.

I had to meet with Nezu before the recommendation exam. I'm not taking part in the normal academic exams, just the normal physical due to my degrees.

Aizawa was there to greet me at the gate. "It's good to meet you Eraserhead, I am a fan of your work." I gave him a semi-formal bow. I snuck my fan out of my sleeve to hide my face.

"You may have to tell me where you saw me working, I try to get pictures and videos removed." He seemed unamused.

"My mother is good friends with a very 'funny' hero." He rolled his eyes so far, I thought he passed out. "I've mostly heard stories. Nothing more." I giggled behind the fan.

"If you don't want to be labeled a problem child before you even attend, I would forget those stories." He let out a long sigh and slumped over tiredly. "Just follow me."

We moved quickly through the halls. It felt like Aizawa was trying to lose me a few times but after a few minutes, we arrived at the principal's office. The door slid open and I could see Eraserhead already slipping away. I couldn't help giving him one more jab. "Say hi to Emi for me."

He choked on his coffee and almost fell over and I could hear Nezu nearly spit his tea out as well before he chuckled.

"Come in Lady Nataka. Thank you for the show. Would you like some tea?"

"Of course, Principal Nezu. My mother is always the one who likes tea but it has never really grown on me. I'm sure it will at some point. I've heard you brew a mean cup though and could never turn it down."

We small talked for a few minutes about niceties but nothing more before Nezu pulled out a large stack of papers. "Well lady Nataka, since your family considers you an adult and because you are a clan leader in the eyes of the law, you qualify as an adult legally in the country of Japan. This test is likely not what you were expecting today. Here in my hand is a test for teacher candidates at this school. After which you will fight a staff member to show your abilities."

This is a twist I was not expecting. "Are you sure sir? I do not have a hero license. This seems a little fast." I did not hide behind my fan fast enough and I certainly wore surprise on my face.

"HEHEHE. You are a hard one to catch off guard Lady Nataka but yes, I am entirely serious. This test is comprehensive, and we happen to have just let go of our ethics teacher. It turns out that he was not a fan of your new book which made us investigate why and we found some connections to Detnerat which you so graciously clued me into.

"If you pass this test and the combat test we will fast-track you through the HPSC and have you take an early full license exam that is before the first day of class. You will likely have to fight a top 10 pro because of your age but it will help quell some of the backlash if you happen to defeat a pro in the top 10."

"I would be a fool to turn down this opportunity Sir."

"Well then good luck. You have two hours." Nezu pulled out a timer and the clicking began only drowned out by the scratch of the pen."

_________

Nezu set down his red pen and raised both his paws. "Phenomenal job Lady Nataka. You scored nearly perfectly." The door slid open just to have Aizawa appear at the perfect time to take us to the gym. The battle of Mina and Kaminari only scratches the surface of this scary rat/dog/bear thing.

Nezu walked towards Aizawa and like it was completely normal, Nezu climbed up Aizawa and into his scarf. Aizawa didn't even flinch. He really has given up. No words were spoken as he walked us to the gym.

"Alright." Said Monokuma, I mean Nezu. "First, we will test you in just hand-to-hand against Eraserhead here. Then you will fight our newest teacher with your quirk to see how you do. Eraserhead will not be handicapped but the other teacher will be for your safety. First to step out of the ring or be knocked unconscious is the winner." I looked at Aizawa and he resigned to his fate and stepped into the ring.

"3,2,1. Begin." Said Monomi, whoops, sorry, Nezu.

(A/N: this is my first real attempt at writing combat. I would love feedback.)

I stood evenly on both feet, weight in my stance, ready to move as soon as Aizawa moved. We circled, sizing each other up for weaknesses.

Aizawa made the first move by stepping forward. His scarf launched from his neck as he approached. The pressure was on. Back-pedaling wasn't an option. Getting caught was also not an option.

I launched myself to the open space on his right where he was ready with a jab.

His punches fell on deft blocks and swift dodges. My martial arts training was always intense, and this was no different. I pulled out my fan and unfurled it clicked a small button to harden the core turning it into a sharp-bladed weapon.

With my reach slightly longer, I played towards my strong hand. Neither of us made a mistake, I needed to speed this up.

I cycled my stamina without activating my quirk, I wasn't a cheater, using it to close the distance between us.

Quickly a swept his feet and from the ground, I launched into a grapple. His scarf caught my arm as I used my legs to lock him down.

We quickly became a tangle of scarf and a classic Jiu-jitsu hold, my blade just above his neck but I was completely wrapped up in the scarf and unable to move. It was my loss.

"Let's call it there. We have certainly seen plenty. Excellent job Lady Nataka. You should not feel bad about the loss. That was some fine martial arts." Said the suited rodent.

Aizawa stood after we untangled ourselves. "Agreed, few people can go hand-to-hand with me. Your hidden blade is an interesting weapon that I have only seen a few times so you caught me off guard for a moment."

I stood up and brushed myself off, "You certainly didn't look like it phased you, I could have used that." I huffed before bowing. "Thank you for the match."

Aizawa nodded before leaving the gym.

"Your next opponent should be here in just a moment Lady Nataka. Go ahead and take a breather. I do request that you keep who you are about to fight a secret."

I knew who it was but was still catching my breath when the loud entrance of the Number One Hero began.

"HAHAHA, I AM HERE. TO TEST THE NEW TEACHER."

I can definitely say that nobody could be prepared for an All Might entrance because even though I had seen him only a week ago, the echo of his entrance complimented his presence.

A/N: Im considering uploading another chapter tonight. I'll need to start stockpiling some chapters for this weekend because I work on weekends and want to make sure you all get your chapters. I know that it might be tough to keep up the pace but I really do want to upload a chapter every day until I drop. This has been so much fun for me and it has helped me relax more than I ever thought possible.

So expect more chapters. Right now I am at 6 in 5 days.
