The Heart

Everyone stood up, wiping their clothes and looking at the 4 people.

"What? Why were we drugged and brought here like this then? Where was the Bus?" A kid with short white hair and a fancy robe spoke, radiating arrogance.

"The Military academy's location is a national secret, not even the Royals know its location. What makes you think we'll show you the way?" A Man with long black hair tied in a ponytail and round glasses spoke, he looked educated and well versed.

"You can't do this, my family must know where I'm at or there will be consequences" The kid spoke once more, pointing at the 4 robed group.

Whispers and murmurs came from the group of students behind him, some laughed while others looked at him with pity.

"How did the academy let such a spoiled pathetic disgrace like you in? I believe there shall be some employee clean up." The Woman from the 4 spoke. She was short, her eyes were sharp with some hints of the color red, her hair was long reaching her waist.

"How dare yo.." Before the kid could finish his sentence, one of the men spoke. "You are hereby expelled, your actions are ridiculous and you hold no respect for our academy, staff and the Royal family. You and your family will suffer the consequences"

The kid opened his eyes, moving his mouth to speak when a white light shone from underneath his feet and the next second he was gone. All the other kids were shocked, they did not know who that was or from which family was he from, but what he had said will reflect negatively on the future of his family and himself.

"Now, does anyone else have something to say?" The Man asked, when silence fell he smiled and spoke once more "Alright then. Again, Welcome to Rechanguard Kingdom's Military Academy. My name is Ramsy and this is Tommy, we'll be your Teachers for your first year, for all the boys please enter the doors on the right." As he finished, the trees started expanding and 5 doors appeared to the right of Ramsy, all male students started heading in, as that was happening, one of the female teachers spoke. "My name is Rose and this is Yana, we will be your teachers for your first year as well, we'll keep an eye out for the girls and Ramsy and Tommy will keep their eyes on the boys, so behave. Girls, enter the doors on the left."

Link and Samuel entered one of the doors, they walked a long road with trees blocking each side entirely, no gaps at all.

A while later a building appeared in front of them, it was huge, even the door was enormous, as they walked through their vision blurred.

"What the hell?" One of the students spoke, Link looked around, finding the whole environment had changed, he frowned. Behind him was the door he came from, but something was odd.

On the other side, there were no more trees, no more dirt road or any sight of other students, what he saw was a long stone path which led in, as Link followed with his eyes he saw other buildings and people walking to and from places.

"Ok, for all that don't know what happened i'll give a quick explanation, that forest is named the 'Heart' it is a testing ground, many spies and uninvited people attempt to sneak their way in and we counter that with the help of The Heart, after the test you are teleported inside our great Academy" Tommy smiled as he explained.

One of the students lifted his hand and asked "I didn't feel anything, did it really work?"

"You don't have to worry about it. The Test is simple, for all who manage to walk the path and enter the Academy is a student and for the ones who failed will walk and walk without any finish line, being lost in an endless forest until their death" Tommy smiled.

Students looked back again, shivering.

"You were split in 2, your groups reside in the same dormitory but since you're all new we were assigned to keep an eye on you. One group which I will be overseeing and the other will be taken care of by Ramsy, now that all of you are here let's get you your rooms" Tommy walked forward, grabbing a shiny orb as he slowly hovered his hand on top of it until it started glowing and cloning itself. the white balls of light flew to every student and landed in their hands which after a while melted into their skin, leaving behind the mark of an eye with a number underneath it.

Link was surprised, he didn't feel anything from it but he could see smoke as if it was burning him, but he felt no pain. What startled him the most was that Samuel was not in the group he was in, he looked all over the place but he still couldn't find him.

"Did some mistake happen in the Test?" He asked himself.

Link looked around, surprised by the fact that the numbers of students were greatly decreased. Now there were 170 students, half are probably in the other group but 60 missing students is a terrifying number.

Link listened to Tommy as he explained the dorm and it's rules, it was not that much different from his world's rules so Link didn't take much time to understand, so he walked away and started heading for his room.

What was special about this place was that each room was unique, he only needed to find his door, which was located on the fourth floor, and just turn the knob.

He needed to use his hand with the mark on it and from what Tommy explained, no one else can open his door except himself. Link approached a door with the number 423 on it and opened it.

Click!

It opened with ease, not showing any sort of resistance.

"This is awesome" Link muttered.

The room was average in size, not any different from his old room in his world. A bed, dresser, some nightstands and a desk. There was everything he would want in a room, plus a huge window looking down on the roads downstairs.

After decorating it Link wanted to leave, but his door won't open.

"What's happening?" He thought.

"First years are not allowed to stay outside after 8, it's dark out so just get some rest. Please respect the curfew and thank you for your cooperation" An automatic voice spoke.

"What was that?" Link asked.

<Probably an AI of some sorts, not sure>

"AI?" Link frowned, he didn't think this world had this sort of technology.

<Not the AI you're thinking of, it's called a Spirit, an imprint of a simple command written with Mana, this one is only set to lock doors and play that message when someone tries to go out after a certain time>

"What's an Imprint?" He asked.

<You will learn what and how it works, your school life just got started, so get ready>

"Aren't we going to learn how to fight and train like any normal Military school?" Asked Link.

<This universe is one lead by Magic, they have to learn its form and understand the Elements, unlike you and your System>

"I want to go back home already," Link laid on his bed, playing with the black Core.

"That useless Human, how can he die by the hands of villagers. Not only that but a 13 year old kid, what do you have to say for yourselves." A Man with purple skin and Horns like the wildest Bulls sat on a majestic chair, looking at 2 Orbs shining in dark light.

"We're sorry Master, the kid is not simple. We underestimated him" A voice came out of one of the Orbs.

"Peter would not listen, he wanted to do things his way and look where he ended up" The other Orb spoke.

"You're the one which wanted to fight that Human in the first place" The first Orb yelled back.

"I wouldn't have even had to if it wasn't for the both of you and your incompetence" The second Orb spoke.

"What did you just say?"

"QUITE" A loud roar shook the cave they were in, small rocks fell from the sealing as they landed on the wet floor. "All my resources were wasted on you lot" The demonic man spoke "I'll take care of things myself"

"Master, the Royal Guards have been keeping an eye out after the incident was reported, we have to tread carefully" The first Orb spoke.

"I am aware of that, those Inferior scum will pay"

"Hey Zero, now that we're stuck here do you have any ideas on how we can Level Up again?" Link asked.

<I can give you the Daily Quests back>

"The push ups and running bullsh*it? No thank you" Link quickly said "Plus, they won't even give me enough Exp to Level Up, that sh*t will take months to even make a difference"

<I'll think of something, but until then you're gonna have to make do with what you have>

Link sighed, laying down on his bed again. With nothing better to do he slowly started drifting to sleep.
