Nothing is fair

"So, is white your best color? Is that why

you choose the robe?" King Varog asked again

"No. White is the least of my favorite colors" she replied, not bothering to hide the scoff that was visible on her face.

"So why did you choose it then?" Queen

Xavia asked for the first time since she stepped into the auditorium.

"Well, I was just attracted to the image on

it. The image looked so spectacular, especially the way the mist surrounded the Phoenix protectively. It was eye-catching" Madison explained.

Folding his hands across his breast, King

Varog said,

"well I wasn't expecting that"

Immediately he said that Madison saw him

disappear, and before she could blink, he was standing right in front of her.

And he enjoyed the fact that he made her scared.

"You know, even though you passed all the trials, it will be difficult for us to accept you just like that".

Madison didn't see that coming. What does he mean by that?

"What do you mean?" She asked lost.

Sighing sadly, he said,

" I mean, the fact that you are human and a thief moreover doesn't give us a good impression about you"

"And what's so wrong about me being a

thief?"

"You steal from people, Madison, don't you see anything wrong with that?".

Yeah, Madison, knows stealing was bad, but she didn't steal from innocent people, she only steals from criminals.

She doesn't even have a criminal record, so what was he trying to do?

"You also kill people" she snarled.

"That's different and you know it. It isn't

fair, Madison Williams" he said pitifully.

"Nothing is fair, King Varog" she replied

annoyingly.

"You know if you all can't accept me, you

can as well send me back" she said praying to the almighty that he agrees.

"Well I would have loved to, but you know, I can't"

wait what now? Why can't he send her

back?

Seeing the considerable frown on her face,

he grinned and said,

"well you see, your soul is already tied to Begtuok, so I can't send you back" he grinned, looking so damn happy about it.

"Are you kidding me right now? What am I

supposed to do now? Fucking give my life to you?" She snapped angrily.

She wasn't sure whether destiny was playing with her or not, but she was already sick and tired of their games.

When she looked around, she saw that everyone was staring at her like someone who has grown a pair of wings, including the so-called royalties.

Kontas wasn't expecting her to snap at the king, but he liked her fire.

" But there is a way that you could earn

our trust," he said rather suspiciously.

Madison didn't like the turns of events.

"And what way could that be?"

"You just have to do a simple task"

Immediately after he said that, he summoned a soldier who dragged in a crying woman with a crying child.

Madison wasn't liking what was going on.

"Madison Williams, do you know what this

is?" King Varog asked, holding up a dagger.

She hoped it wasn't what she thought he was going to ask her to do.

"This is an ancient dagger, once taken through the heart, the person will be no more. Madison, you have to kill the boy" he said freely.

He must be insane if he thinks she will kill a little boy.

Seeing the hesitation on her face, he said,

"Let me rephrase Madison, you will

kill the boy"

"I will do no such thing" she fired back.

'What did the poor kid even do?"

"Well his mother who is a slave slept with a royal which is against the rules in these land" he said with so much disgust.

"Then why is it only her that has been

punished? What about the royal she slept

with, isn't he also meant to be punished ?" she asked, confused.

"Royals are not meant to be punished, Madison" he replied sarcastically.

"But that's unfair," she snarled.

What kind of rule was that?

"Nothing is fair, Madison, you even said that yourself. Now take the dagger and kill him"

He ordered after using her words against her, still, she resisted.

"I won't"

"Oh you won't want to defile my dear," he

said as he looked towards where prince Kontas, who was the third prince, was sitting.

"Kontas seems like your slave needs a little reminder of where she stands," he said as he disappeared back to his throne.

When Madison looked towards where Kontas was sitting, saw him staring at her like she was the most foolish person on Earth to have disobeyed the king's order.

Well, fuck you master, but Madison was not killing anyone.

Standing up, he stared at her one last time before saying

"Do what you are asked to do human"

"Am sorry but not sorry master but I'm

not going to kill a child or anyone for that

matter'' she said as a matter of fact.

"You know, I hate the noisy and

disobedient ones the most. Now Madison

Williams, pick up the dagger and kill the boy"he said in a thunderous voice that

gave Madison a chill.

But she was damn stubborn as well, so it is either he forcefully takes her hand and kills the kid because as far as she

was concerned, she wasn't going to touch that dagger

"And I said that I am not going to… Ahhh" she went down on her knees screaming.

What the hell?

She felt at that moment the same pain she felt on her first day in the land when she attempted to leave the land.

But this pain was a thousand times worse than the first.

Crushing her teeth so hard, she asked,

" What the hell are you doing to me?"

"That's your punishment for disobeying your master, Madison. Now if I were you, I will get this over with quickly because the more you delay and refuse to do what you were asked to do, the more intense the pain will become. So, the balls are in your court" King Varog said with his annoying grin yet again on his face.

At that moment, Madison felt like clawing his face off.

But he was right, the pain was getting worse each second, and she couldn't do anything but cry.

"Please stop I am begging you" she cried

screaming out to prince Kontas, but he just

played a deaf ear to all her pleading and

screams.

"Just kill him already Madison and save

yourself from all this trouble" Prince

Nazim said already frustrated.

He wanted out of there as much as possible, and Madison wasn't helping.

She couldn't bear the pain anymore, it was so painful and those motherfuckers were

enjoying the show.

Looking up at her so-called master and all the princes, she committed all their faces into her head, promising to get her revenge on all of them.

She was going to make them regret ever messing with her.

Pleading softly that the mother of the kid who was crying and begging her non-stop not to kill her baby, to forgive her, she picked up the dagger and with a sorrowful cry, she stabbed the boy.

"I just killed a kid. I was a murderer. I was a murderer, "Those were the only word that was ringing in her head.

Raising her hands, which were vibrating so much, she couldn't stop the scream that came out of her mouth when she saw her very own hands filled with blood.

She shouldn't have looked at her hand because immediately after she saw the blood, she started throwing up.

She threw up until there was nothing left in her stomach.

She was now a murderer. And the people all staring at her were a witness to it.

She got up on shaking legs to see prince Kontas staring at her with so much longing and pain in his

eyes.

Maybe she was imagining it because the

next moment it was gone and replaced by his normal cold expression.

Madison didn't want to stay there anymore, she would rather not see the faces that turned her into a murderer, so she turned and walk towards the exit, not caring she will be shot down.

She wanted to leave there so badly, but she didn't think she could do it because the moment she took another step, she went down, letting the darkness that has been calling to her finally draw me in.

But before she fell unconscious, she saw the same person who caused her the pain she felt, her master Kontas.
