"Hero Killer Arrested!"
"Thank you Endeavor!"
"The End of the Hero Killer!"
"Special Report, Hero KIller. The three villains arrested and restrained in Hosu city's riots are all men with unknown addresses and identities. However, judging from their appearance using cameras, it seems they're all related to the League of Villains."
"The Hero Killer, Stain, has killed more people on his own since the appearance of All Might than any other criminal. However, with the appearance of Zero, criminal rates had also dropped."
With that final sentence, Eira turned off the television, and rested her head on the sofa.
"Out of all the things they could've thanked me for, it's for crime rates dropping? Like I didn't just save three students and beat Stain. Why is Endeavor getting the credit?" Eira rambled.
Yu chuckled, "Who knows? The media only sees what they want to see, not the facts. Remember, the truth is crazy to the world that is full of liars."
"Hey…Yu." Eira said.
"Hmm?"
"What if I told you that my nickname, Zero, wasn't just because of my quirk? What if there was something more to it?"
Yu looked up with curiosity.
"Explain."
"Three years ago, I went on a mission to purge villains, and corrupt heroes. I traveled everywhere, different cities, different states, I've seen it all. I became a killer, the second coming of Stain. My hands were drowned into a pool of blood. The reason I had the nickname Zero was because there was never a target I missed, zero."
Yu unconsciously took a step back in shock, she was left speechless, and was still processing everything Eira had told her.
"So you lied to me? Saying that you were just training and gaining experience while you were out there murdering people with your quirk?!" she exclaimed.
Eira looked down at the floor, "I was scared, scared of that fact that you would resent me forever. I hated the thought of you disliking me even if it's a little bit. If you were to look at me with hatred in your eyes…"
She suddenly found it hard to breath and gripped her heart, "I…I don't think I can-"
Before Eira could finish her sentence, she felt Yu's pair of arms wrap around her neck, and was pulled closer to Yu.
"Eira, no matter what you did or what you became. As long as you did not lose yourself and remember everything that you cared for. I could never hate you." Yu said, gently patting Eira's back.
"Stain told me we were alike, that we had much more similarities than I thought. He called me the next Hero Killer and the only one besides All Might who was allowed to kill him." Eira said, closing her eyes as she buried her face deep into Yu's neck.
"So what if you were alike? You're a better person than him, Eira. You put your life on the line at the age of thirteen or fourteen to make the world a better place."
"But what if I were to end up a villain, what if I happen to join the League of Villains? Would you view me as a traitor?" Eira asked, staring into Yu's eyes.
Yu smiled, "Is it right for me to say that no matter what you become, you'll still be Eira in my eyes? Would I become a villain as well for saying that?"
"But that won't happen. For you, I'd do anything to protect you, even if it means that the world would be against me." Eira said.
Yu froze at the sentence, she could see how genuine Eira was by the look in her eyes. That's when Yu realized it, Eira wasn't born a tough girl, she as well needed to be protected.
After all, the icy heart was meant to be melted.
There was a moment of silence before Eira's phone rang.
Yu watched Eira's expression change from interest, confusion, and to an expression similar to acceptance. She sighed before ending the call.
"What did they call you in for?" Yu asked.
"Apparently Class 1-A is having their final exam or something like that. They want me to be the final challenge they have to deal with." Eira said.
Yu gave her a lopsided grin, "Why don't you do it? I think it'll be fun for you."
"But then I'll have to let them win." Eira said with a small frown.
Yu's laughter echoed around the room.
"Well of course! How are they going to graduate if they're going to be stuck with you in the exam forever? And you should be a little nicer, they're still kids at the end of the day."
"I'll think about it, what are you up to next?" Eira asked.
"Hmmm, nothing much. How about we head towards your house and see what we stumble upon on the way?" Yu suggested.
"Alright, but go change. You're on patrol tonight so wear something you're comfortable with." Eira said.
"Okay, okay, what about you?"
"A haori is fine, it can be a hero outfit as well as something comfortable."
"Then I'll be right back."
Eira nodded and headed out the door, waiting for Yu to finish changing. The moon had already started to illuminate the city and the stars seemed to be brighter than ever.
The cold breeze hit her as a familiar voice called out to her.
"Are you ready?"
Eira froze for a second as the wind perfectly hit Yu's face, her blonde hair that waved in the sky seemed to shine bright from the moon's illumination. She wore a simple sweater and dark cargo pants.
Yet, there was no word in the world to describe how beautiful Yu looked in Eira's eyes. Eira closed her eyes and took a deep breath before smiling. It was like she fell in love all over again.
"Yeah, let's go." Eira said, wrapping her fingers around Yu's. "But you know that my house is quite far from here right?"
Yu grinned, "So what? Right now, the night belongs to us only."
The two went on to visit the night markets that were open only at night, eating candy apples, and takoyaki as they explored the endless gallery of street food.
Out of enjoyment, the two bought a pair of matching traditional kimonos. They were quite the eye-catching pair, with men and women looking at them whenever they went to a different vendor.
But who could resist? A blonde and light blue beauty that somehow harmonized with each other. That night, they were the highlight of the event.
Once they reached Eira's house, the two immediately crashed onto the bed, and smiled at each other.
"What a night, how I wish this could last forever." Yu said.
"Perhaps someday." Eira added.
"Tomorrow we'll have to return to our normal lives, patrolling the city, and doing what a hero is supposed to do." Yu said. "How boring."
"One day, I'll give the entire night to you."
"I'll be waiting."
